Joe Farrell (like all human beings) does not play rhythmically perfect, so it was necessary to adapt his improvisation to the staff to facilitate reading.
Sure. Notice how the basic melodic shape of the original is given new vitality and freshness through the use of new rhythmic patterns/ideas. This is a wonderful lesson in that aspect of the art of variation... one that can not only be improvised but also -- gasp -- thought out and -- dubble gassp -- written down. @@igorfomi4033
