Stamping Industry Experts Gather at the First Asia Press-shop Meeting in Suzhou

  • On October 30 and 31, 2018, Oerlikon Balzers hosted its first Asia Press-shop Meeting (APM) in Suzhou, China, inviting over 120 leading OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers from the global automotive stamping industry. Renowned professionals and experts, including representatives from Beijing Benz, BMW Brilliance, Dongfeng Nissan, Ford Motor, Honda Motor, and SAIC, gathered to share their knowledge on punching and forming technology through a series of presentations.
    The event marked the successful introduction of the Press-shop Meeting concept in Asia, following six successful European Press-shop Meetings (EPM). The APM focused on ‘Developing Perspectives - Shaping the Future’ and addressed critical questions such as opportunities and challenges presented by new energy vehicles, the implications of all-aluminium bodies for car stamping, and the interpretation of Industry 4.0 for the stamping industry.
    Highlights included insights on the application of intelligent stamping and die technology, solutions for rapid mold switching between new energy and traditional vehicles, and advanced surface technology materials for car stamping dies. Experts like Yingliang Guo from BMW Brilliance Automotive and Prof. Zeng Dechang from South China University of Technology (SCUT) contributed valuable perspectives and solutions.
