Hi man, does cleaning the throttle feels a difference like more power or fuel economy? Also cleaning it may causes like a problem with the configuration of the car? I’ve heard that

If you have a Ford Focus 2.0L L4 (not sure what the L4 means but that's how car is listed) DOHC (zetec) standard transmission. Sub model LX,SE,Sony limited,Zts, or ZX3. The TPS looks identical to the TPS for manual transmission. If by chance you purchased the manual trans TPS it won't work. Unfortunately auto parts stores and dealership only seem to list 2 TPS parts. TPS for SOHC standard trans.(plug is much larger) & TPS for manual trans.(identical in looks and plug in) They do not list nor can they get in my experience the TPS for DOHC standard trans. After days and days of searching I found one at autopartskart.com for $14.95.

Hi, did you figure out what the problem is with your car?
I have the same problem but also my transmission slips the second speed and my RPM shoots from 2000 to 5000. I have replaced so forth the TPS, the MAF sensor, the whole throttle body, the TPS harness, and the problem continues.

@@rafaelhuicochea7158 this is my run thru on my 2000 Ford Focus SE 2.0L L4 DOHC (zetec) standard trans. One evening got in car turned key start then die. Only after pumping gas several times did I get it to run. But had to keep foot on pedal to keep running otherwise die. There was a strong fuel smell. Found leak and changed fuel pressure valve on fuel rail. Car still start then die. Changed Idol air control valve on bottom side of manifold directly under throttle body. Car start and ran fine for about a week or two. Then when letting off gas pedal it would stick where it was instead of dropping. Changed cable. No change. Pulled off throttle body and cleaned throughly. Problem fixed. Then a few days later when accelerating to desired speed instead of staying their it kept accelerating on it's own. At first I could stomp on the gas pedal a few times and it would stop but further on it got worse. Had to put in neutral and wait for it to stop accelerating. The worse part was that while it was accelerating on it's own the brake pedal could not be engaged. Stomp all you want that pedal would not move. Changed mass air flow sensor. Problem solved. Unfortunately the idol became sporadic, ranging from high to low, sometimes stall. This usually indicates bad throttle position sensor. If things are working properly check engine light then 2 codes P0122 TPS/ A circuit low input & P0123 TPS/ A circuit high input. Not the case here. Through all this I was getting no codes on any parts even though after testing each part I replaced they were broke. Anyways I changed the TPS 3 times until problem solved. Or so I thought. Now when I drive the shifting of the transmission from first to second seemed quick with a slight thud then second to third would rev up then slam into third. It's probably the same for overdrive but I shut that off while in town. Now under normal circumstances that's an indication that your knock sensor is bad. When it goes bad check engine lite will come on. Shut car off then restart. The check engine light will go off. If it does then knock sensor is bad. I changed knock sensor. No change. At this point one might think it must be something with the transmission. A valve or pressure sensor or shift control thing. Not the case here. If it had been transmission related the problem would have existed from the start. Not begin after I changed the TPS. I gow thru my notes and there I find 2 ? One: How come no codes. Two: TPS. I found a video that is a step by step guide to resetting everything electronic on any vehicle. It says that just unhooking battery is not enough even resetting computer with code device sometimes isn't enough. When something electronic goes bad or the part it maintains a check engine light with codes should follow. If not then your vehicle needs voltage drained from everything by unhooking negative cable from battery and jumper cable it to the positive side for 15 or 20 minutes. The positive side will drain away any residual voltage from everywhere. I did this and followed the other steps to completion. Started car drive it and right when the trans. Slammed into third the check engine light came on. Checked codes and says TPS bad. Everywhere I looked and everyone I asked had no clue. I know there are 3 types of TPS. One for SOHC standard trans. The second for DOHC standard trans. The third for manual trans. All parts stores and dealerships list SOHC standard trans. TPS and manual trans. TPS. in order to buy DOHC standard trans. TPS you have to according to the dealership buy the whole throttle body that comes with it for $600.00 otherwise junkyard or online. So online I buy correct TPS and install. Problem solved.

@@rafaelhuicochea7158 I forgot to mention. There are two small hoses on drivers side that connect to the radiator. One from the thermostat housing and the other right next to it from I forget where. These hoses over time get soft and while driving can collapse. Just give them a pinch. If you can easily collapse them change them. I've heard some people say they experienced sporadic shift problems, acceleration problems, and various other false positives. Mine was after changing thermostat housing and thermostat several times I decided to check and see if new hoses collapsed as easy. They didn't so I changed them. Problem fixed. Another thing driver side front of motor there is a sensor with short L shaped rubber hose that connects to metal line at side of motor change both. While your at it check the hose that runs along back side of motor. If you can pinch collapse that hose anywhere change it. As a rule if you can pinch collapse anywhere on a hose from one end to the other then the hose needs replacing. If your concious is throwing doubt your way. Simply go to parts store and try pinch collapsing a replacement hose. If memory serves me the total cost of all new replacement parts for everything I mentioned here was somewhere around $45.

@@rafaelhuicochea7158 another thing. Check transmission fluid. If red still and not overfull then no worries. If not red then change immediately. It will cost you a lot more in the long run if you don't. There is somewhere around 10 sensors inside transmission and all cost $50 + each if they go bad. One of which controls shifting. If fluid is over full line by even a half quart this will cause a gurgling type effect making air bubbles. Bad, bad, bad. If you want a better understanding look up video explaining how a transmission works and other video on how to fill or change fluids in transmission. Heck you might try looking up what happens if I overfill transmission. Off topic let me say to anyone who seeks knowledge. The very first thing you must do is look it's meaning up in the dictionary.

But not always the throttle is the problem, it could be a burn throttle fuse, a toyota highlander has the same problem, no throttle response when you press the pedal, and i checked the fuse first and i fond its fuse is burned, and then i replace it, and the throttle start resoonding to the pedal normally, i mean before going with.an expensive electronic throttle body, just check its fuse first and make sure it is ok, and then you can replace the throttle body. You could fixe with no cost at all just a 5 cent fuse.

You may have to replace the cable going to the throttle body or the PCM may be bad.
