Tim Truman's music was a key element in making Season 5 my favorite. It was a dark season... ugly, full of regret and hopelessness as the series (and the 1980's) wound down. Tim captured this melancholy perfectly, providing a strong backdrop for the inevitable implosion of the characters in the final episode.
music chapters for your enjoyment 🙂 00:00 Borrasca ("Borrasca") 02:50 Dope in the Bag ("Victims of Circumstance") 05:46 Freefall ("Freefall") 08:36 Over the Line 1 ("Hard Knocks") 11:21 Over the Line 2 ("Over the Line") 13:16 Helicopter ("Line of Fire") 15:54 Drive's Up ("World of Trouble") 18:14 Money on the Table ("Too Much, Too Late") 21:09 Shoot You Right Now ("Freefall")
Excellent collection and great audio quality! Sounds like the tracks have been de-noised and remastered! Hope you can upload more Truman Vice tracks in this audio quality!
Serious props to you. To my ears, Tim Truman's music for season 5 was in a class by itself, and it holds up even after all these years. Your mix here not only brought those memories back; it's made me wonder how the (heck) Truman didn't go on to a top-line career in prestige television. The middle tracks (Over the Line, Hard Knocks) are especially fine IMO. Some of today's music execs clearly have a tin ear, that's all I can think. Kudos, respect, and thanks for sharing.
Tim Truman in collaboration with his then production partner session guitarist Michael Thompson eventually went on to compose the musical score for all 7 seasons of the popular '90s primetime Soap Opera Melrose Place.
He really is a person that should be in many film/series scores. Unfortunately there’s not much to listen to with this quality. I came to this score because I was a huge fan of his in the 90s for scoring series like Melrose Place and Central Park West. I remember having tapes recorded with the parts of the scenes where there was any of his scores. He only scored seasons 1 and 2 of MP and as a fan of the series too, his absence from 3rd Season on was noticiable. I was hoping to find any of those melodies with no luck. From time to time I go back to the scenes of Melrose or CPW to listen to his art ❤️
great compilation at a good quality, thanks for that - other than some message boards his music for this Season is hard to come by - his score for Jeremiah was pretty good as well (for J. Michael Straczynski) great to have this available
This is honestly an amazing video - great job cutting them together. Would love to field any music recs for stuff similar to S5 MV. Looking forward to what I think are going to be some active years for Mann as he closes out his career.

Season 5 OST is miles better than Jan Hammer's old tunes, regardless of how iconic they are... We need more! Especially from the episode Bad Timing... and Limo Blows Up
I agree. There's only a handful of iconic Jan tracks that can even compete like the theme song, Crockett's theme, El Viejo, Payback, Stone's War, Colombia, Evan.
I've been saying that for years ever since I watched the last season that Universal needs to officially release Tim Truman's recorded sessions in a volume 2 soundtrack album.
There aren't many episodes that can top the soundtrack of Fruit (no plural) of the Poison Tree and that is Truman. The only other episode that is back to back tracks similar is Prodigal Son
That's true enough. In the series the plate was at the rear only. The photo I used had a modern plate on the front, which I replaced with the series version in Photoshop.
Whatever "Money on the Table " song is I see two scenarios in my head: someone winds up dead or you knock on the door expecting Crockett, but you see his girlfriend instead. She's fresh from the shower dripping wet....

Well said.
TIM TRUMAN is LEGENDARY ! True Talent.
18:15 EP:Too Much Too Late - Money on the table. When the mother sells her own daughter for drugs. Such a great song.
very nice and underrated soundtrack!
Miami Vice, the greatest show ever made!

Tim later did the theme song for Melrose Place of course.
Season 5 of MV is my favorite season of any show, without doubt. Music and the tone it helps set and consolidate is a big reason why.

Probably not a popular opinion, but I #agree.

Both are great but Hammer's defines the eighties and Truman's are ushering in the nineties - different themes for very different times.

"Helicopter" at 13:21 Those synth pads are just absolute bliss to listen to, can you recommend similar music?
Exactly man of culture i see
The second track, at around 3:00, is awesome! It sounds more like Chris Rea than Chris Rea does.
What was the song where they where recruiting those guys in the woods in season 5 episode 1 cus I love it
Great music as always. I hate to be picky, but this picture of the Testarossa is inaccurate. Florida doesn't issue front license plates

13:17 - my favourite cue (Helicopter). :)
Great selection !! And great music quality !! What happened with Tim Truman's Miami Vice OST ? It's not available anywhere, not even on Spotify...
... too spooky....
