An ambitious production, well presented with generous costumes and values. Cannot find much information on the history of this Society, presumably it ceased operation in the 1990s or slightly later, all ways regrettable.
The company was associated with the Rolls Royce in Derby (aero engine division) via their social society (like the football/cricket/ruby clubs). The shows they performed were put on for a week at Derby playhouse each year. They had large budgets, but they had to make profit to survive (RR did not foot the bill). Anyway the society closed, I think it was in the early 2000's, they just weren't getting the audiences. This show was one that was re-vamped and had some new musics and lyrics written by a pair of gentlemen (Phil and Andrew) who were known to the company. I must admit I have never seen it performed since. Hope this info is of help.
