The Bible has been passed down more efficiently and painstakingly accurate than most people think. I'm actually taking a class that has brought this up. I've done the research and it's really amazing how accurate the Bible has been passed down! It's much more accurate than you may believe

I think he has motivational speaker elements to his preaching, which is great because we all go through tough times and for many people it's not enough to just hear God's word without real life examples in present day to motivate us through tough times. Now that I know the attitude God wants us to have in His kingdom I have begun to appreciate Pastor Joel like never before so I pray for him every morning. People God is pleased with Joel. Becareful with your persecution.
He is a great light in this dark world. In the end my friends it comes down to, if you believe in the bible or not. It says what it says, theres no getting around it. I think it maybe because the subject is so controversial no matter what your view it will cause heated debate!Romans 1 vr28 to 32 tells us that many types of persons will not inherit Gods kingdom besides gays and homosexuals if they do not repent! for example greedy and selfish persons but most couldn't be bothered to argue ,maybe because we all are to various degrees? God dose not wish us to be judges as he alone is the judge of all ! but he clearly states in Romans what his judgement is
I sure the people of Sodom and Gomorrah wish Joe had been there! for he would have tried to argue a good case as far as he was concerned that God was not at all very well informed!! and that they were some of the nicest people in the world.So what dose Gods word say is the reason for all this false doctrines by preachers and prophets Matthew 24 vr3 to 14 We love you Joe but not the things you say for they speak against the word of the holy spirit
He just shyed from calling it a SIN!..."The Bible is very clear that homosexuality...(pause)...is not God's BEST"...Well, Osteen, let's go to the Bible and scratch out that nasty word "Sin" and replace it with "it's not God's best," ie, let's change "Thou shalt not kill" to "It's not God's best that thou kill"...Osteen touches on his Prosperity Movement, putting down non-Prosperity Christians, implying they misread Acts (!?!).
Someone musta coached & straightened out Joel on his mrman answer, he knows his larry king show answer wasnt a good way of putting things & understandably taken wrong, he has shared the Gospel, i heard him, but just like you here, you didnt, he doesnt share it everytime he opens his mouth , he also has improved on his Mormon answer better, his gift is exhortation & he admits he is not the best theologian, he is open to improving & is doing so
So are you. Now that the niceties are over, we can talk about God. God does not have the traits described to Him by the bible. The bible is not the only book in the world that describes God. Common sense tells you that God cannot be perfect and at the same time exhibit human frailties such as wrath, jealousy or hatred. Yes God is sovereign. And as such, He has no need for wrath as He is always in control. God wants for his children the same as you want for yours, to learn and to grow.
Please re-read Matt 11: 28-30... You like to emphasize the negative aspects. Have you taken up your cross yet? Carry it to work with you? How about when you are shopping? You do want people to get the message that Christianity is miserable, don't you? It is falsely called 'good-news', but in reality it is a life of deprivation and denial, and being offensive. I'm sure Jesus is happy with the way you present his message.
'Tell the people of Israel to keep my Sabbath day, for the Sabbath is a sign of the covenant between me and you forever. It helps you to remember that I am the LORD, who makes you holy. Yes, keep the Sabbath day, for it is holy... ...Work six days only, but the seventh day must be a day of total rest. I repeat: Because the LORD considers it a holy day, anyone who works on the Sabbath must be put to death.' (Exodus 31:12-15) Apparently Joel doesn't believe that one!
"I BELIEVE, I BELIEVE, I BELIEVE", BUT WHAT DOES THE WORD OF GOD SAY ON MATTERS SUCH AS THESE??? SADLY, JOEL ONLY PRESENTS BITS AND PIECES OF THE WORD WHEN IT SUITS 'HIS MESSAGE', BECAUSE IF HE TOLD IT LIKE IT REALLY 'IS VIA THE BIBLE' SOMETHING TELLS ME THE CONGREGATION WOULD START TO SHRINK BEFORE OUR VERY EYES. TICKLE THE EARS FOR AS LONG AS POSSIBLE I GUESS, AS LONG AS THE TRUTH DOESN'T COME OUT. VERY SAD.
@josephc28 All you have to do is search on yt for John Osteen and you can see for yourself that his father was drawing the same size crowd, so the church size was already established. Frankly, Joel is a very different type of preacher than his father but that is because Joel is Joel and John was John. As for the content of Joel's messages, even if he preached more of what you are saying he omits someone else would still complain about him for something. Don't you see that you are knocking him?
@myviewization, I'm NOT asking you or anyone else to believe what I wrote, CHECK THE SCRIPTURES FOR YOURSELF AND SEE WHAT GOD AND JESUS HAD TO SAY, and find out FOR YOURSELF how what Joel says measures up to what the Bible says? Did not Jesus Christ say that all who followed Him would suffer persecution as they "took up their cross", and that the world would turn on them because they followed Him? Jesus NEVER preached a feel good message, but told it like it is and that's what most can't stand.
@Matlike1, can 'you' tell me what "GOD/JESUS' definition of "good" is? Does it in any way, shape or form, compare to what the 'Biblical' standards say God is looking for from us? What did the Lord tell us to do if we truly believed in and followed 'Him' and what we could expect to happen in the 'long run'? Jesus preached sermons that left 'us' uneasy because it went to the 'heart and soul' of what we're really like as humans, separated from a Holy, Rigtheous and Just God and Savior.

When we can sit behind a computer and not have to answer to anyone, and say whatever pops into our feeble little minds and almost swear they'll be no consequences to our actions right? @jebeja and it isnt false hope either. Jesus didnt come to make bad people good, He came to give life to the dead. Giving life to the dead means giving them another way out of the rut that people are in. Speaking truth into there lives with love and compassion. @jebeja I agree and many of His teachings are scriptural I cant understand why you think there not. He gives us practical ways on how to live out the scripture. You know Jesus is spiritual but He is also practical. I don't think he tries to measure up to man's standards at all as a matter of fact i think he gets more criticised then anything else. God says that we will not be judged not on what we did but on what we were called to do, and all this man of God is doing is spreading hope to people.
THE THING THAT'S REALLY BAD ABOUT THIS INTERVIEW, IS HOW JOEL KEEPS ON SAYING "WHAT I BELIEVE", RATHER THEN REFERRING THEM TO THE SCRIPTURES THE WAY THE LORD TOLD US TO DO. GOD DID NOT PROMISE US THAT THE LIFE IN THIS WORLD WOULD ALWAYS BE 'GOOD' AND ROSEY. 'HE' SAID THAT ALL WHO TOOK UP THEIR CROSS AND FOLLOWED HIM WOULD SUFFER PERSECUTION FOR DOING SO, AND THAT THE WORLD WOULD HATE US AS IT DID HIM (Matthew 16:24,25, Luke 14:27-34, John 15:18-21). Don't believe me read the verses for yourself.
@myviewization, It's way more than a "talking positive" issue, people are saying and doing 'things' that ARE NOT scriptural, and meaning well by man's standards versus doing what's right in the eyes of the LORD are two vastly separate issues. When we come to stand before the Lord if what 'we've' done doesn't add up to what the LORD said we should have been doing, it WILL all be for naught in the eyes of a Holy, Righteous and Just God. Society's standards WILL NOT measure up to God's.
@CPTBlackDragon07 Im not saying that being a Christian means being rich, I believe what ever you sow u reap in every area of life. It will show in your fruit. Psalm 128:2 "You will eat the fruit of your labor; blessings and prosperity will be yours." God always used the example of Kingship; kings govern the area of there nation (household) and there running s (finances, vision, career etc) also the example of Priesthood; Spiritual (integrity, giving, love etc)
@CPTBlackDragon07 haha I agree that there are poor Christians and that they suffer hey i was one of them. I lived in a cow shed literally with our animals for most my childhood with my family because we couldnt afford our own house and i considered myself blessed because i still had food and a roof over my head. I also think that some Christians settle for mediocrity rather then receiving fully what God has for them. When we give we get and when we get we give.
@gombis666 no doubt that they should be improving themselve and im sure thats what improves them. When people talk positively (Joel Osteen) its normally out of what they've experienced due to the improvements that they've had in there own lives. Id rather listen to that then all the failures of someones life, wheres the improvement in that?. As they say "Rather not focus on the dot in the middle of a blank sheet of paper but focus on the clear area". Dont look at the bad but look at the good.
@gombis666 but i dont think that its fair that u categorise him, and think thats how he will turn out like, its abit narrow minded. i mean were no better off then them if we start presuming and passing judgement cos at the end of the day we all have to stand before God and be judged according to what the scripture has already told us what we will be judged on. I know for one i wouldnt like to be reminded wat im doing is wrong constantly but wat i would like to know is how i can improve on wat im doing that isnt right and i know this is wat Joel Osteen does. @Queenweezy1 I agree to a certain extent. I'm not knocking him, but he draws large crowds to his church because he only talks about positive things and financial prosperity. You rarely hear him preach about sin, repentance, and God's judgement. God is more concerned with our spiritual condition than how big our house is or how many cars we have, or how many designer clothes and jewelry we have.
this guy has nothing but good things to say, there is no hatred in his heart and that's why he doesn't run around condemning people, he does however make it clear he believes it's not God's best, which is a more respectful and prudent way of getting his message across. If he were to fall to an ordinary level, he would be saying something like "this is not God's at all!!" which would just promote hate, anger and more frustration. Very classy Mr Osteen, never become one of these pathetic radicals!
We can't say that we can't imagine that God would use someone or not. God says in his word (bible) "for my thoughts are not your thoughts and neither are your ways my ways" Isaiah 55:8. But I do think that Joel should quote some scripture and not worry if they will like him or not. It's really God who the world hates and God can defend himself. The media will twist your words around, but as long as God knows what comes out of your mouth, that all that counts. God Bless!
Excuse me, but I have so much to touch on where this clip is concerned. First of all, God does love everyone, and He wishes NO ONE to perish. You are not to hate the homosexual (the person) but hate the act of homosexually. Please, call it as it is, A SIN!!!! Don't be afraid to call it anything but that, besides an abomination. why do you guys hate on him?everyone has there own opnion, hes helped alot of people, people think pastors know all the answers, they talking to him as if HE was God, all joel osteen can do is answer his best, he show respect and for me hes probably done more good in the world than any of you, people always focusing on the negatives!

What is your point? There are preachers who do not preach according to your understanding of the bible, but they are still referred to as preachers. Call them speakers if you want to. He preaches the truth of God. Are you blaspheming God by referring to Him as a vending machine?

@EpicShitStorm Only God chooses who is going to heaven. The Bible does not have all the answers we seek it is a guidance but it is not all there is. Having a relationship with God is more powerful then the Bible it self.

I love Joel Osteen and what he does and I am an athiest. He is more so a very inspirational speaker in my opinion. He does have a way to make you feel better after listening to him. Now, he could really believe in every thing he does or he could very much be a con man, but the brand that he is selling really do es promote positivity and that is a quality that most Americans need to adopt.

Okay maybe she is not an atheist. I do agree with Whoopi that gays should not be judged or thrown in the fire and that religion should be about love and not hate. I am sure Joel doesn't hate but he wouldn't marry a gay couple.

He preaches to Christians who already know about the cross, the blood. He gives the invitation after every sermon, so yes he preaches Jesus.

Joel follows the admonition in the bible to not judge. He is correct. Not even a holy person such as yourself can send anyone to hell.
Poor Osteen, if you just answer every question with what the bible says, it'll be easier than trying to explain it with your own words.
