Hi Bo, In answer to your question - both! The round-up or list video for the sling bags was really interesting and fun to watch. It's also great when you do a more in-depth single product focused video. Those in-depth videos have helped me make decisions about bags and EDC items to purchase. I think a round-up video every 3 or 4 months would give you time to test a lot of products and then make the video but keep your main focus on the single bag, in-depth reviews. What ever you decide know this sling bag video was really well worth the effort. Thanks for making such great content
I found this roundup style of video to be very useful, because it was very easy to see the differences between the bags - thus easier to evaluate the pros and the cons for one's own personal preferences. I would recommend that after you have done several in-depth reviews of a particular style of bag (sometimes in those reviews you even mention direct competitors and how they compare to each other) you make a roundup flash video. I own an Are day sling and use it as my main everyday carry, and am very pleased with it. One criterion I had when choosing my sling was wether it would fit a water bottle - the round shape of the Are allowed that without making too much volume an issue, where more flat-shaped slings didn't seem to make that requirement possible. and by the way, great video!
I like both formats. I like when you go in depth on one bag but I also like when you compare bags to each other in the round up style. Keep mixing it up and I think most people will be happy
Hey Bo, I really liked this round-up, but my preference is the single video. It makes it easier for me to search through your videos if I am looking for a specific bag, rather than going to the round-up. Also I feel like with a single video we are more likely to hear specific sings about the day to day of a bag. Great video though!
Hi Bo! To comment, yes I like both format of the video, especially when you compare between the bags. It makes it easier to know which suits us. On the other hand, I still prefer the detailing video for each product, as you always list out all the nook and crannies for the bags.
Thank you for showcasing your dogs in the video. They are beautiful and always enjoy when you include them in your videos. I am not sensitive to price, so you are my go-to site for premium bag reviews. Always high quality.
Very well done video! It's art! Best for carry light camera bag I've ever used is the Lowepro Sling Bag. Once you use one, you can't go back. Perfect for photographers who like to travel light.
It seems to though that sling bags are just fanny packs worn differently so as not to look uncool .. This has actually peaked my interest in having a "sling bag" rather than my small messenger style pouches/bag because of how tight it is ob body and it looks like a mini backpack.. Great video btw! More power to the channel 😁👍
Have you come across any sling bags that are compatible with the molle system - like the heimplanet monolith pack has? Also Messing around with molle pouches, and using the molle to make belt loops for my own make shift sling. But haven't found the right bag, but concept works
Hey Randy! Thanks for stopping by ;-) I haven't seen any slingbags with molle. But I think you could just get a molle equipped belt and then add a pouch and wear it like a sling.
The last one is soooo awesome 👌 But all of them looks cool and usefull. However, I still prefer the Xiaomi sling bag ❤️ By the way the "list format" for your video IS pretty cool as we can compare some bags and having like a short review of them.
Just got the Xiaomi sling on a vacation in China. I generally love it, but have some complaints - mainly, the strap could just be a little shorter on the shortest setting and the compartment arrangement is a little suboptimal - if you fill each of them with items (like passport, phone, wallet, keys, some moisturiser, a water bottle, and maybe a light jacket/sweater) the bag stuffs up real easy, and I often wish for just a tad more capacity. If you travel real light though (just your EDC essentials), it's great! Plus overall quality is outstanding and it is ambidextrous by design - meaning the strap and zippers can switch to both sides. Also, one key advantage the Xiaomi Sling has over most of these bags: it is DIRT CHEAP - CHEAP AND CHEERFUL TO THE MAX! The Chrome bag is 110 USD, the AER is 80 (I think), maybe the Alpaca and the KP Sling are below 50 EUR - but the Xiaomi is just 69 CNY, that's just 8.5 EUR!!!
@@TheUglyPrimadonna Thank you for your really helpful comment ! Actually I would take this bag just to carry my EDC, minimal stuff, so it's perfect for my needs. 👌
@@hgchcxdxx Yeah, same here. I am happy to have the Xiaomi Sling as a minimalist bag for only the most essential EDC for a day out in the city - as opposed to my larger Timbuk2 Messenger or a bigger backpack. What I meant is that, just sometimes, I wish it would just be a tad bigger, or the compartmentalization would be a little more optimized or a tad larger. For instance: it fits my 750ml Mizu water bottle perfectly, but then the small pockets within the main compartment become borderline unusable for say my iPhone 8+, my super slim wallet and keys. I made it a habit of carrying an extra cloth tote within it, for those instantaneous shopping occasions where I would need additional storage. I still love it! Great small bag and for the price it is an absolute winner!
I own Xiaomi Sling Bag. It's nice for the price, but it doesn't looks as good as any of the 8 you've reviewed. I liked this "list style" video. I think that both styles are necessary, so your idea of uploading one of this each month/ 2 months is perfect for me

I ride a motorbike daily and have grown tired of using my large backpack, so I started using my swim bag. I find my swim bag is too soft and the rope straps are way too long so it slumps way down my back. I am looking at a MEC Pod Sling Pack today. I usually just carry a 20oz starbucks mug, large wallet, and a IPhone 7+. Occasionally I carry my lunch in my bag. Your video is so informative! Thank you!
I suggest you do both a round up video and a single video on the product you are reviewing. With a round up video people can get an idea of what sling bags are and the single video can be in more depth of one particular product. But either or is good. Knowing that you are making the video I can trust that the products you showcase in the videos are really good. 😊
I'm looking at a sling bag as I would love the functionality of a purse but not the shape. The typical purse is meant to go over a single shoulder, but I find shoulder bags to be really impractical as they slip around or off your shoulder and you often don't have complete freedom of movement as it would slip around or off. However, a backpack is just too large for a water bottle and a umbrella as well as my edc and I really dislike those tiny backpacks. I think they're for 50+ but I'm 15 so... Taking my affection for techwear and activewear into consideration, a sling bag is clearly the best option. It's out of your way on your back when you don't need it or on your front when you need its contents or theft protection, it fits really well into that techwear aesthetic (provided it's the right one of course) and they stay put. So thanks a lot for the roundup. Maybe you could do single reviews abd short roundup videos where you summarise your reviews and link to them.
Hey Charlotte. Thanks for the great comment. I agree, slingbags are a great middlground of most bags. I think it's a good idea to have one especially for one bag travel.
I’m just catching up on some of your older posts .. I never thought I’d own a sling until I held the peak design 5L ash .. fell in love with it . Great for my G9 and GoPro with some accessories .. Great post mate !! 👌🏼✌🏼
I really enjoyed this video. I enjoyed that fact you mentioned your wife's preference of bags. I like to hike and go on bike rides, but it's hard finding a bag that doesn't look like an army duffel on my back.
I like both kind of videos, but I have enjoyed this one very much. Sometimes you are interested in one product and you prefer a deeper review, and sometimes you prefer a wider overview. I own the AER sling bag; very good bag, perhaps too big zippers, but a good one.
I use sling bags as day bags when i bring a few more things than usual or when i travel. I use pacsafes'. Only thing is they are a bit on the heavy side and a bit bulky when packing in backs.
I’ve got a Chrome kadet but only use it on few Occasions; simply because Im too lazy when it comes to moving gear from bag to bag. But the kadet is a cool bag that even an older dude like me can take to meetings and such. So recommended it is.
Haha I know what you mean. I was the same at first, but once you realize how useful they are, then you don't want to miss them. Just for jogging or walking the dogs they are great
I have the KP Sling and as you've mentioned, if you wear it on your right shoulder, all compartments face towards the ground so you can't open the bag without pointing the compartments towards you, or stuff will fall out. And because of its teardrop shape, any tablets larger than the iPad Mini won't fit! This is so frustrating, since my Kobo Aura One would fit if the top of the bag is *JUST* 2cm wider!!! I've now switched to the Dayfarer Sling for this reason. (BTW I found it strange that Dayfarer Sling is not included here as it's a German brand lol) I also have the Alpaka Go Sling Pro. IMO it's far more versatile than Air Sling which is too small to be useful.
With dog training it is all about timing. Having them in a zip lock bag plus a bag will just take too long and mess up the training. If it is just for storage, then yes a zip lock bag is more appropriate
Of these I’d say the Aer Day Pack and the Mission Workshop one near the end of the video are my faves. For a larger sling that can hold up to a 13” MacBook Pro, I HIGHLY recommend the Boundary Supply Arclite Sling
For all my videos I decided not to include links for the products. Everyone is living in different countries and therefore has to deal with different shipping and customs fees. That is why I would advice everyone just to Google the product within their country to find the best deals. For instance: I live in Germany, It wouldn’t make sense to give you a German link while you might be living in USA or Asia. I hope that is understandable.
have you tried Peak Design's 5L and 10L slings? Probably they're a little overkill in terms of features for the use cases you describe, but anyway the 10L sling is easily the bag I use (and love) the most
Bo I love your videos but I don’t like sling bags. I have several. They look cool but are not comfortable to wear. I’m constantly moving the shoulder strap around looking for the right position and I never find it. I have Maxpedition jumbo versipack and 511 Moab 10.
Thanks for the comment. I believe it depends on the size of the slingbag. These are basically fannypacks and therefore have only a size of 5L tops, so I find them to be comfortable to carry. BUT with bigger slings I wholeheartly agree with you. I also have trouble to get a comfortable carrying position with bigger slingbags.
After watching your very informative video, I have a question. Aren't these sling bags just large fanny pacs worn over the shoulder? Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks.
Yes, it shows a bicycle and I say motorcycle. I did not record any footage on my motorcycle that day, but that is why I superimposed the text "or bicycle" to remove any confusion. I'm sorry for the misunderstanding
Hi Bo , I think this kind of round-up videos are pretty cool to have a quick look on the diversity of a topic. It will be nice to have some like « my favorite edc packs », « my favorites bags of this year », « my favorites edc items of the year », etc... One video every 2 months is a great idea.
Yes this video was cool to the point short review of bag's I do use a sling bag its a chrome industries cardiel shank. I use it for when I go on bike rides and just need the gear I need sush as tool and small edc gear. I also have a waterproof geckobrands sling bag witch is very cool but I can't wear it over shoulder the strap feels like its cuting in to my kneck not a good feeling
the xpak one doesn't fit well on the shoulders or back no matter how much u have in there. It droops down, even if you cinch it tightly. Really disappointed in mine and selling it.

It depend on which subject it is. For small bags like these one big video for all of them is great. But for the big bags one small detail video for each bag is best
Why not both? If you review all of the bags that are worth reviewing. And then every now and then when you have looked at enough of a type of bag in a certain category, you could do s video comparing them.
@Bo Nice roundup video, I also like those types of videos, however, in-depth reviews are more important IMHO. Now I at least know sling bags are not my thing :-)
I almost bought a Code of Bell thinking that if fully expanded, I could wear like a messenger bag...I didn’t know the opening will face the ground! Hmmmm Good to know! Thanks!
Hi Bo, this video has been really helpful as I am looking out for a new everyday sling bag for 2019. Quick question about the Chrome Notch: are the 2 front compartments tall enough for an average smartphone? For example an iPhone XS Max. Would really appreciate a clarification on this. Thank you!
I’ve been recently using the FUNK sling from kickstarter... the only thing missing from the design that would make it more user-friendly is a grab-handle on the back.
I prefer my loop back from Marimekko. The model is called Korttell and I chose it because I'm a rather big person and many of the bags I tried to look too small on me. The bag has a volume of 5.5L and is perceived to be very spacious. Usually I use it back and forth to school with my IKEA glass lunch box and my EDC, but on a couple of occasions I have used it as a weekend bag, which in retrospective might not be optimal. The quality of the bag is high, albeit not as rugged as my Misson Workshop Rambler. / Alex
Hi there Bo, I personally prefer your in-dept video because I enjoy your thorough evaluation. But ideally I think you should do both roundup and in-depth video, so your viewers can diverge and converge their options. But since the roundup videos takes time - how about your break it into several videos? If I'm not mistaken, you reviewed 9 to 10 sling bags on this roundup. How about reviewing 3 or 5 of them per video? That way you can do semi-in-depth review while allowing your subscriber to diverge their options. Keep up the good job man, Salam from Indonesia
Great reviews as usual. Most of these slings are a bit small for me though. The sling I’ve used in the past 5 years has been the Crumpler Mild Enthusiasts (L). 10l capacity is on the larger side but it is also a camera bag and is so versatile. Love it.
'appy holidays mate! Always look fwd to (yes the notification bell be ringin') and love your bag reviews. Regarding the Chrome notch I was hoping for a review based on a more "mundane" daily, school, business, travel, edc, application of this bag rather than its use as a specialized dog trainer bag. You must admit at 90 USD that is a pretty steep price to pay for a simple dog bag ;-) pun intended. I was very interested in the Notch but for lack of a better word, and with all due respect, your review was a bit too one application specific for me to make a practical buy/no buy decision on it for my daily "mundane" needs. Can you please add a supplemental review onto it? Cheers!
Thanks for subscribing and activating the notification bell ;-) I tried to show every bag with a different albeit small perspective to keep the video interesting. In the end most of these are quite simple and covering each of them in one single video would have been quite boring IMHO. I totally agree with you that 90 USD is an overkill for a dog bag to some, but you must admit that this is a) a new way to use it and b) it does show it's durability (because this bag gets abused quite a bit haha). Therefore I assumed that a bag used for this kind of task will definitely hold up for regular task as well. But please feel free to ask me any question about the Notch. It's still my favorite of all of them. I use it everyday, it's very durable, I can move very well with it, and it fits a lot of items.
I like these round ups because you get a better sense of comparison on how you use it back to back to back. However, the single videos are great at getting at all the little details. So... this wasn't helpful. Maybe roundups, and then go in depth on the top pick and the bottom pick.
I like both types of video. sometimes a genre of bags can be covered in one video with just a focus on their differences and what they are like to carry. Other times a bag deserves more of a focus - especially when it has a lot of unique or interesting features.
do both :) do an in depth review a current bag, then once you have a handful of them a round up. Great job as always. I was waiting for this round up. Will you do an in depth review of the Alpaka stuff? Thanks Bo!
Thanks, Anel. I probably won't do an in depth video of any of these slingbags. They already occupied so much of my time 😂 but if you have any particular questions, please let me know
how does your wife looks like? i use small shoulder bags... i love the round up video instead of 1 video of a single bag? dog treat should be inside the plastic small bag..t0 keep the bag clean inside the bag? where the bags links i would like to check out the prices? i have a chrome kedet sling bag is a big shoulder bag 1 big zipper pocket another 1 small ...
My wife has the same height as me and obviously her shoulders aren't as wide as mine haha. We do not keep the dog treats inside a plastic bag, because giving treats to a dog is also a matter of timing. If you want to reward your dog for something he or she has done well the praise and the treat needs to be ready. And i found that fiddling a treat out of a plastic bag just takes too long and makes you miss the right moment.
Hey Bo. The list style video is pretty convenient to have everything in one place, although the indepth videos are also cool. Either is fine with me. I fully agree that sling bags shouldn't be too large, preferably 8L or less. My preferred sling is the discontinued Crumpler LLA Waist Pack. It has a padded rear compartment for phone or small tablet, large main pocket, and small zippered front pocket, which makes it perfect for organizing bits and pieces. It has a quick release buckle and can be used as either a waist bag or sling. One bag which looked great but has turned out to be less than useful is the Cote & Ciel Riss. It looks gorgeous and is very nicely made. But it's quite large, bigger than the usual sling, and has a relatively thin strap, so it digs into your shoulder if you load it up. There's a thin cross-strap intended to stabilize the bag on your back, but it doesn't work as well as you might think. The Riss has a padded section for a large tablet or small laptop, and a main section with an odd expanding concertina design which is an odd shape. Don't even think about carrying bulkier solid objects in the main compartment like a DSLR because it will make bulges, and will unbalance the bag when set down. I can imagine using it for meetings where you only take a small laptop or tablet and documents, but not really for general use. I so want to like this bag, though, it's gorgeous.
Cool video, as always! 👍 but i was missing the peak design sling... i love their everyday backpack and their pouches, but i‘m not yet sure about the slings...
Thanks, Stefan. The Peak Design was or is on my wishlist. And I wasn't able to get that one in time .As I have mentioned in the video: This video took so long to make. And I just did not want to postpone this video any further.
Oh man, I did not know someone can talk about sling bags so well. Nor can I say I could imagine use cases of a sling bag like you did so well. If I am not carrying a backpack and want something small I usually go with a messenger style small bag so sling bags have never had a place in my usage. And on hot sunny weekend runs when I need to carry a lot things I use a fanny pack which is similar to 'The Axis' but a bit smaller. I think the concept for Mission Workshop is great if someone wants to live one backpack lifestyle. Separating and using parts of backpack as and when we need is great. I end up carrying a daypack and a smaller bag in my duffel or suitcase when I travel which not only wastes space but also is not that easy to pack and travel with. Talking about longer and round up videos. I think you did it really well seeing that you can't do much with sling bags I mean an in-depth video of every sling back would really have been either really small or very boring. This comparison was really well done. IMO, the in-depth indiviual video for backpack is good but not for small accessory like bags. Being said that a round-up of all the review videos you have done this year by the end of this year would be really great to watch. I mean after using all those bags you would have a lot of things you want to talk about in comparison with the bags you reviewed later, that would be insightful I guess. Maybe consider that.
Hey mate! Thanks for the feedback. I agree with you: An indepth review about a slingbag would have been pretty short. So I'll probably reserve list videos to "simple" items (i.e. items that I can't say much about). Thanks for watching and commenting!

Should also check out Moshi's range of bags! In terms of style they look too tempting to not get one of them, whether you really need one or not😜
I use sling bags as day bags when i bring a few more things than usual or when i travel.
That's a pretty cool sling bag. Overall I'm pretty happy with chrome bags. Thanks for sharing your experience
Filson waist pack. Stupid simple stupid good
Nice Watch bro 👍🏾
Für mich bleibt das côte&ciel Isarau das beste Slingbag ever. Wie immer top Video Bo!
I love sling bags...but my mom, my gf and my friends hate them, lol. I get a lot of shit from them for wearing them
Haha I know what you mean.
(BTW I found it strange that Dayfarer Sling is not included here as it's a German brand lol)
I also have the Alpaka Go Sling Pro. IMO it's far more versatile than Air Sling which is too small to be useful.
I just want a sling bag with a water bottle thingy on the side
Colfax Design is always sold out so if you don't need yours and would like to sell it, I'm waiting :D
Where are you located?
Good to see Xpak 1 fully expanded
Does anyone know the title of the song at the beginning of the video?
Hey Cathy. I buy all my songs for my UA-cam videos at epidemic sounds. Unfortunately I forgot the title of the song
Just put the dog treats in a ziploc bag ..... Jesus Christ
Le doy like solo por la música de fondo
the title should be "best dog bag"!
Not every body likes dogs !
Would be great if you had put the links where to find these bags
For all my videos I decided not to include links for the products. Everyone is living in different countries and therefore has to deal with different shipping and customs fees. That is why I would advice everyone just to Google the product within their country to find the best deals. For instance: I live in Germany, It wouldn’t make sense to give you a German link while you might be living in USA or Asia. I hope that is understandable.
can i have ur kp sling bag sir? i will fix the broken zipper. heheh damn its just too expensive.
have you tried Peak Design's 5L and 10L slings? Probably they're a little overkill in terms of features for the use cases you describe, but anyway the 10L sling is easily the bag I use (and love) the most
Hey Martino.
Peak has been on my wishlist for a very long time. But I wasn't able to get their slingbag for this video unfortunately.
Thanks.
How do u confuse a bicycle vs a motor cycle.
Or just said electrike bike if you think is the same a motorcycle. It's not.
Not really sure why you think I confuse one for the other. I ride a bicycle and a motorcycle.
5:14
Yes, it shows a bicycle and I say motorcycle. I did not record any footage on my motorcycle that day, but that is why I superimposed the text "or bicycle" to remove any confusion. I'm sorry for the misunderstanding
This is interesting... When I look up sling bags, I generally see proper bags... Not fanny packs.
Hi Bo , I think this kind of round-up videos are pretty cool to have a quick look on the diversity of a topic. It will be nice to have some like « my favorite edc packs », « my favorites bags of this year », « my favorites edc items of the year », etc... One video every 2 months is a great idea.
Please do more versatile waist and sling bags. Thank you 😊 for your eirk
Yes this video was cool to the point short review of bag's
I do use a sling bag its a chrome industries cardiel shank. I use it for when I go on bike rides and just need the gear I need sush as tool and small edc gear. I also have a waterproof geckobrands sling bag witch is very cool but I can't wear it over shoulder the strap feels like its cuting in to my kneck not a good feeling
Like any (front) EDC type packs? LIke chest rigs?
the xpak one doesn't fit well on the shoulders or back no matter how much u have in there. It droops down, even if you cinch it tightly. Really disappointed in mine and selling it.
Whats the name of the yellow bag at 11:36 ??
That's my extended EDC. You can see it here ua-cam.com/video/l29KJ1HDhL0/v-deo.html
What jacket is that you have on in the intro? The cut and materials look great, but I'm having a hard time finding anything like it. Thanks!
Anyone have any recommendations for products in the US? Looking for one similar to the x-pak.
I hate having stuff in my pockets. It just seems so insecure and so uncomfortable.
I just bought the Alpaca. Thank you for demoing it

It depend on which subject it is. For small bags like these one big video for all of them is great. But for the big bags one small detail video for each bag is best
Good video! Plz tell me where i can buythose two messenger bags !
Hmmmm
Good to know! Thanks!
It's a great bag, but the rolltop is not as useful as I anticipated. Thanks for watching!
I've got one and I bought my brother AirPods sling bag and an iPhone x
Hey Bo do you think the Chrome notch could fit a Sony A6000 inside?
Lol
Hi Bo, this video has been really helpful as I am looking out for a new everyday sling bag for 2019.
Quick question about the Chrome Notch: are the 2 front compartments tall enough for an average smartphone? For example an iPhone XS Max. Would really appreciate a clarification on this. Thank you!
Hey Kevin,
Unfortunately my LG G6 doesn't fit inside the two front compartments. I usually put it in one of the two main compartments.
The Axis is really nice as well. Where do I get then small black things at??
I’ve been recently using the FUNK sling from kickstarter... the only thing missing from the design that would make it more user-friendly is a grab-handle on the back.
I have the Funk St sling as well. But I haven't started testing it yet

Thanks for the great comment, Alexander. I have never heard of Marimekko, but I'll google them ;-)
Hi there Bo,
I personally prefer your in-dept video because I enjoy your thorough evaluation.
Keep up the good job man,
Salam from Indonesia
Thanks for the feedback. That might be a good idea to think about. 😉✌️
One at a time to get them out timely then an annual or quarterly round up to sum up the difference and compare
Anybody knows if can I fit a small bottle into the aer?
Great reviews as usual. Most of these slings are a bit small for me though. The sling I’ve used in the past 5 years has been the Crumpler Mild Enthusiasts (L). 10l capacity is on the larger side but it is also a camera bag and is so versatile. Love it.
Ayos, salamat Al James!
Cheers!
Thanks for subscribing and activating the notification bell ;-)
I tried to show every bag with a different albeit small perspective to keep the video interesting.
What's the name of the intro music?
Chrome Kadet
None of the bags are designed for office use and travel purpose.
Definitely the side by side comparison in one video
I like these round ups because you get a better sense of comparison on how you use it back to back to back. However, the single videos are great at getting at all the little details. So... this wasn't helpful. Maybe roundups, and then go in depth on the top pick and the bottom pick.
Thanks for the feedback, Linh!
Thanks! Cote & Ciel looks very interesting. At some point I want to test one of their bags.
Awesome and as usual thorough comments many thx Bo
