Excellent use of the plastic and old pallets! A lot of weeds, even the nettle roots could be thrown in a pail/barrel of water and left to rot for a couple of weeks, then put in a compost pile. This method would capture the nutrients. Permaculture recommends water storage at the top of a slope to allow for subterranean absorption and ease of use to water the plot by gravity if you need to (seems like you have so much rain, maybe you wouldn't ever have a drought! lol). What good work you are doing! Congratulations!
Glad your ditch seems to be working, your planted area is looking swell too! Can't believe how quickly you get an area dug over, you might not be getting as much done as you would like, you are tackling a difficult plot at a fair pace though, it takes me a day to dig a square metre over 😬 I'm hoping you're going to tell me you don't have couch grass haha 👀 please, please say it. I am custom building a polycarb tunnel at the moment with my dad, can't wait till I have somewhere to keep gardening during heavy rain, planning on growing grapes melons in it this year 😁🤞🏻 Relieved to know I'm not the only one still working with paper and cutting rough to scale pieces out to plan with 😅
Im a newbie gardener, currently doing the most i can with my limited apartment space. Watching this series is very inspirational, i look forward to seeing how you tackle this allotment area! Its giving me inspiration for my future home.
Weather has been a nightmare and my garden in the north west is like a swamp but super happy to see even with all the rain you have made a dent in the standing water on your plot, just in time to avoid being eaten alive by mosquitos. I get so envious of the flashy USA youtubers when I look out and it's grey and cold here, I have an unheated polytunnel and even with that it is slow going. I somewhat abandoned early cropping varieties is favour of cold hardy things.
love watching high your videos so far. the weather does mess us up a lot. but you’ve made it so far already from where u started. keep hanging in there. i’ll be watching!
Magnificent work with the drainage! Your work is absolutely paying off. A little progress is also progress.. All that is done is done, and all that isn't still needs to get done hehe.. I dont know how many hours you're able to put into this between life and work, so well done you! I hope you save some of the raspberries, but I understand well the need to get raspberries under control, I'm a bit overgrown on raspberries myself! Looks like your beans are eager to hold on to something already, it's clearly growing very well. Too bad the weather was so unpleasant. It's pretty windy and wet in Norway as well.. The snow melted for the 10th time or so, and more snow WAS due tonight, but luckily the forecast has changed. Perhaps you could do a road trip video, showing off some local features of plants, allotments or gardens, or ideas you like to implement into your own allotment? I keep eagerly awaiting new videos, so I do appreciate you letting us all know it might be a while until the next.
Thank you for the great videos. I wee bit of advise from the rain forests of Vancouver Canada. 1. Contact a tree cutter and ask for the wood chips and use on all walk ways. 2. Its best to have the pond at the lower level that way the water is always changing and collecting all the wash away silt to reuse. 3. UA-cam will recommend you more if you have more time laps videos with music if available. 4.Do your best to work and talk at the same time that will keep peoples interest. 5. I love the plan on paper that is a great idea then people can follow the plan and see it change and get implimented. 6. Organics lots of organics. Biomass is so important. Leave all biomass on site. The bigger/deeper the compost bin the hotter it gets the faster it composts just dont over heat it. Branches on top do nothing think dense. 7. At the end of the day when you look back take 1 min just to breath and look around at everything you did. That is a great reward. 8. Just keep plugging along. I might be Cornish at heart and birth but we all love to keep on doing good. Thank You ! Any if you made it this far ill give you a business idea. Asl people to bring you their broken window screens and repair them. I make a killing doing that here. Check FB if anyone does it there. I change 25 to 30 a window cdn $
Nice one ! Have you ever thought about dig a row then plant / sow it straight away, then next time you've already something in the ground. the shoots start to get inspiring as row after row appears. Rotation will fall into place gradually but you have time. Or square yard dig and plant. Lots of beds lots of different veggies.
The only thing stopping me from direct sowing is how rampant all of the weeds are. I’ll try to fairly soon once I’ve got on top of a few areas. The idea of getting stuff in the ground gradually like that really appeals to me though 😊
Looks a hell of a lot better than it was in thw 1st video. Hard work and frustration with doing it all yourself but you should be proud of it as look how well it looks now making the area a nice tidy site ratger than a shi*ty dumping ground
Great effort. You can see how the drainage is improving which is fantastic given the rain we’ve had across the country. Planting you did seems to be holding it’s own ?
I find Hazel helpful. Never gets that tall. The young multi branched bits make lovely scrappy plant supports for peas and used seven year old taller wands for runner beans, think they’ll last me years. I coppiced them in late winter when they’re really rock hard. I have planted a second one because I send surplus through a shredder to make wood chip paths around the veggie beds. It’s also very attractive compared to bamboo canes, probably more environmentally friendly I guess too.
@@LucyLeaf I thought of hazel too as it much sturdier for making things (fences, raised beds etc) the problem with hazel though is that it requires well drained soil. He has a spring on his plot from what I saw in other videos.

Love hearing the birds! Looking forward to seeing the results of all your hard work 👍
A little and often! You'll get there, keep at it!
The rain is driving us all a bit mad now. I went to my plot and tidied up under my lean-to as it was too wet to do much else. And I hate tidying up!

Keep up the good work, stay positive. Little and often
Thank you, I will! Little and often definitely best
Algorithm just sent me this today in Australia, a week late! Awesome effort mate & genius idea to dig a ditch for the water. Thanks for the video 👍
Great to see the water subside, lots of hard graft, with each episode things are taking shape. Good job 😊💪 nice to hear about your plans
You're doing a great job handsome! Love the videos.
If I could duck over from Australia, I'd give you a hand with it all 🙂
You’d be very welcome ❤️👌🏼 Thank you

Just had enough of the rain now . Feeling lucky to have my plot on the top of a hill now though . Thanks for the video
its about the effort, better to have done something than nothing
100%

Lid doctor done a great job on top, but sorry to see the developing tash get cut back
The tash divides opinion but I let it do its thing a few times a year. The dirt enhances it
Oh wow I didn't even see you'd taken on an allotment, hell yeah! Going to have to catch up
I may have to trench my plot too. We've had our average rainfall for April in the first 8 days. And it's not stopping anytime soon.
Great job! 😊
Everything is so wet, it's hard to get anything done in the garden, everything just turns to mud.
Exactly! It’s barely stopped

Yeah I’m pleased that it’s moving in the right direction. Thanks for the encouragement 😁🙏

not sure if they let you plant trees, but I would consider planting a few willow for polarding/copicing, given that you have so much water on the plot
You’re not supposed to have large trees but I’m sure if they’re for pollarding it would be ok. Could be a good shout! Thanks for the idea 😊

I’d want to take a mini digger to that lot, just to get it over and done with😆well done 👍

@@reer5340 Yes good point, I wonder if he’s got a higher point on the plot where it maybe viable, could act as a screen too.
We can't get anything inner allotment as it is so wet! If we put the potatoes in they would rot so I've done my second earlies in tubs!
Doing hard work
It’s all I can do 😅
Great vid
And that is a big problem for doing anything in the UK the weathwr is allways sh*t as it's either cold , cold and raining , or raining.
🤣
🤣
Nice cardoon amongst all that rubbish.
🤣 I’m working on replacing some more rubbish with desirable stuff
have you considered starting a patreon?
For the Algorithm again kidda 😁😁.....
Thanks
Fantastic effort....the plot's almost clean. You must be very pleased with your efforts. Onwards & upwards....🍅🫑🍆🥒🥕🥦🧅🥬🌶
Maybe we could get a bathroom update instead? 😂 I can't sleep not knowing if you still have floorboards up or a majestic plantopia! 🪴🌴🌿
