Magic is the epitome of a “You had to be there” player. The numbers and highlights don’t do him justice. Nobody looked like they enjoyed playing in the NBA more and as a fan it made you enjoy watching. Never been one like him, won’t be another one.
I think Magic is the best point guard, ever. It's difficult to imagine anyone else playing guard , foward and center in a NBA Finals game. Im grateful that my dad showed me how rare a player like Magic is. Magic had the skill to average 25 ppg for many seasons however he is the epitome of a team player. I think Jason Kidd had stellar court vision yet Magic's height and quickness plus court vision makes him one of a kind. Gratitude for sharing this video.
No player at ANY position has ever consistently put a defense back on their heels as Magic did. He defined the term "PUSH the ball." No one ever did that like he did.
Magic Johnson is the Greatest PG in NBA history an it's not relatively close. I have him #3 All-time right behind Bill Russell at #2 an MJ at #1. Magic Johnson played 12½ seasons won 5 championships 3 MVPs infact he Russell Jordan Kareem (Mt Rushmore) are the only 4 players with atleast 5 championships and 3 MVPs. Kareem has the accolades vs Magic but Kareem very likely don't win another championship if not for Magic. Also like Tim Duncan Magic Johnson also never seen a losing season. Guys today playing 15+ years today an can't touch these legends still.
Steph's great but no one defined the pg position like Magic, similar to what the other MJ would later do at sg. Magic's entire career was essentially one long peak, few regardless of position are on his level.
@@146zigzag3Completely agree. Total great career from his rookie championship season to now, where he's still #1 All-time in APG still after 29 years since he last played.
I am so happy for this video. A stat like scoring or lot's of stats (filling the boxscore) cannot begin to convey how much game control and dominion was exerted between the lines by this Earving Johnson.
Great points. Many overlook how he truly improved his outside shot and post up (especially in the half court) game. Also often forgotten, is he became a great free throw shooter. He actually led the league one season just over 90%. He almost never gets any recognition for that, either.
One other thing, we know Magic really didn't like walking the ball up the floor and dumping it into Kareem. However, he certainly made the best of it and he ran whenever they had the chance. He orchestrated the balance like few guards ever could. I believe Oscar and Stockton could as well, but not too many others.
Top 10 player ever Wilt Bill Bird Kareem Petit West Elgin MJ Doc Magic These 10 guys are untouchable with honorable mentions of Oscar moses hakeem Reed and Kobe
2016 Steph was the mvp, scoring leader, steals leader, ft% leader, 3pt%, shot 11 three's a game and hit 45% of them. He only missed 3 games, and lead his team to the best single season record ever
Steph was great in the regular season, but was nowhear near the level Magic was in the playoffs. It's not even close. And dont' get me started on Russell Westbrook. Bringing him up in this conversation is ridiculous.

Isiah Thomas did when he wanted to.

Thank you!!!! I keep saying this
John Stockton was greater than Magic.
@JigsawBell He's nothing but a compiler. The Cal Ripken Jr. of the NBA

Magic was a great, great player too!

And he was forever clutch‼️
DAMN RIGHT. MAGIC PLAYED IN SOME TUFF ASS ERAS BABY. AND TO PLAY THE WAY HE DID IN THOSE TIMES, IS SAYING A LOT.

I love Magic, but to say his season was better than the nest of Oscar Robertson's is painfully ignorant
Fate of the universe on the line and I need a squad
Magic
Jordan
Bird
Duncan
Kareem
Saying 87' magic is the best season for a point guard is crazy, 2016 Steph is on another level

Russ’s peak too. No chip but levels above this.

They didn't win with 3 Allstars.
