It is a good maintenance point to clean them before they fail you, but if your furnace is failing, you may want to go ahead & change that part out.
Sooner or later they're going to fail & you don't want your furnace to fail when you need it the most.
They're relatively inexpensive. Just check your owner's manual to get the correct model number.
Same thing with igniters.

My burner head went bad. Replace that along with the sail switch since it was all apart. Extra switch since we boondock a lot. Great video as always
