The Plunges are in there to help you find your combo pieces more reliably as 4 copies of each is pretty medium. The board plan postboard is -2 WGD -3 Griselbrand -1 Oona -4 Reanimates -1 Gier +4 Witch +4 Chain +3 Plunge Thoughtseizes can come in but not very often. Mostly there for other combo decks And hello Bosh! Im the decks innovator/creator Roodslay on MTGO
I did forget to send the sideboard stuff along with the list l, that’s on me. Thank you for talking with me about the deck rood, and as always thanks for the awesome content Bosh
at 40:50 you should have sent smog back at them instead of discarding your other smogs. clearing their hand so you can smog again is more important than trying to go off here
game 2 R3 smog your opponent with the which in play, they cant send it back and you mind rote them with two chain of smogs in hand. The game wasn't going anywhere fast and you where under no pressure . just a note
At 22:40, I think you're supposed to keep that hand and natural discard Griselbrand. Then you petal, dark ritual, and have a T2 griselbrand through force of will. You probably lose that game regardless, due to the opponents draw, but in the blind, I think that's a keep.
I think the main deck therapy has something to do with Entomb + Reanimate on Oona. Or casting the actual Reanimate on Worldgorger then sacrificing it to Therapy.
At the wrap up, you mentioned how bad the mana base is and how there’s no recourse to interaction. For the next time this is built, I think it would slot into something like the old BG depths lists, getting to utilize expedition map, saga, and the pinger/tech land can be fetched with crop rotation. Entomb packages have better decks, same for discard/madness (as seen in the matchup).
I'm not sure straight-up Reanimator quite cuts it anymore. I remember in your Blue-Black Reanimator league, there were multiple times when you'd resolve an early Griselbrand and it just wasn't good enough to get over the finish line, simply due to how powerful decks are nowadays. They either have main-deck force of wills or endurances (or both, if you're some sort of sick psycho playing Bant!), powerful sideboard hosers, or their own ways to impact the field early on. Sure it can still steal games, but so can Burn. I think if you get a window to combo off, you have to use it to win that very turn, so Tin Fins (Griselbrand/Children of Korlis) seems like a better way to go with reanimator, at least in my opinion.
You have Unmask and Grief, that's why I'd say Therapy could edge out Thoughtsieze as you're not using it to check if the coast is clear plus get a piece of disruption versus maybe hitting blind, you're hoping to clear multiple pieces and assured in such outside of say Brainstorm. Witch is a plus too
I wonder how hard it would be to make a deck centered around the other combo entirely instead? My first thought was that things like witherbloom apprentice + chain also drain infinitely, but I'm not sure how many other effects like chain exist.
Just started watching, but in R1G1 you did have the infinite combo right? Not sure if it's correct for time considerations, but you did have it. You had Geier Reach, so infinite mana and loots... With enough {C} mana from Geier Reach in the pool you loot until you find Oona in your graveyard and find a third Lotus Petal to keep in hand. Use the Petal for coloured mana + a ton of the {C} mana to mill them out.
27:03 ¿was the 61 cards deck a choice?... or just a "LOL, i forget to cut 1 more card"? =p in the min 40:38 ... i think you target opponent, first... ¿right? as always, great video! (=
Oof. I wonder if there could be a Saga/Worldgorger hybrid deck that uses Retrofitter Foundry as the wincon in order to avoid playing as many “bad” cards as possible. Welp, I guess I’m off to go do some brewing.
I’m definitely going to play this deck in real life… and yes this comment is before watching the whole video and you did miss something 😭…. Hi I watched the video and oh god is it bad like way worse then I though and cabal stuff never came up but it’s during the gorger combo… I’d rather play a purely reanimate siege more witch deck
Hey Brian! I'm good friends with the creator of this build irl, and the Plunges in the sideboard are meant to be extra copies of witch and smog for a full juke plan 😜. Thank you,, and keep up the Legacy content.
G1R1, you could have gone for worldgorger turn 1, you had infinite looting and colorless mana so you can draw until you have a petal and win activating Oona
I remember seeing people play this build in paper on a stream and being very confused how it was better than just regular reanimator. Thank you for reassuring my judgment as a magic player lol
I think the answer to that question depends on how you define “better”. What it may sacrifice in tactical advantage, it makes up for by being unnecessarily convoluted.
This is a corner case for Therapy but technically if you are on Therapy you can Entomb Therapy up to combo with a Witch to attack their hand which is nice postboard but you could also g1 say sac a Grief to it if in a brawl
Im only in round 3 atm when making this comment but the plunges in the side seem really meh. Up until this point you have yet to bring it in and I'm struggling to think of mu's that your super stoked to bring the card in unless your giving up the reanimation aspect fully for the juke ig. Honestly I'd be a fan of trying dauthis in the side as your running a bunch of discard anyways. Dunno if thats the best card to have in the side, but recency bias leads me to like the card in that slot better.
As goofy as people find it, I'd love to see a deck running Darkness as an out to Marit Lage or Elves in a black shell. Yeah, Fog sucks and is stupid, but Darkness is a black Fog that NO ONE would see coming.
It's not relevant for this monoblack build for Worldgorger combo, but I use Crumbling Vistage as a budget means of adding mana of any color to the loop
@@BoshNRoll Ah, I misunderstood, I thought the plan was to draw oona then cast her. I still think drawing then casting ballista might be more appealing, you don't have to worry about the game becoming a draw because you can use geir reach to pitch any of your other creatures. The only trade off would be that you can't really get ballista back if it's killed, and you'd be stuck if you're hell bent. Yeah, thinking it through now, I think I see why oona is better.
@@gileswebinger8147 Sanitarium also lets opponents loot. So while you dig for Ballista, they're selecting their Forces. Not having to cast another spell once the first Animate resolves is another layer to it.

Drawing 3 and randomly discarding those same 3 out of a 7 card starting hand: what are the odds?? I got 0.14%? 1 out of 10 times 1 out of 9 times 1 out of 8? Does that seem right, math people? A bit more likely than a one in a thousand chance.

red black reanimator is one of the best decks in legacy, these silly poorly built decks are not.

There’s a bunch of different chain of smog builds. I’ve played many of them on this channel :)
I'm glad I saw this. I kept seeing people talk about Worldgorger but had no idea how the combo worked.

Yeah you’re right. I think I just didn’t consider that there will be cards in my hand when the loop stops and Oona comes in. Good call.
This is risky against endurance but yeah you're both at 53 cards in library so you can also just mill you both to 0 cards and say go
At about 33:00, playing to discard to hand size rather than making land drops would probably have been more solid.
The looting in the Land will get you a petal witch you can keep (If you aren't empty handed) to activate una

Archon would be better as villus if playing reanimates.....that combo auto-draws 8 cards.
Griselbrand already does that. Archon is for different situations.

Yes it is much better.
