- We were sent a Beer Line Cleaning Kit by the nice folks at 5 Start North. This kit comes to us just in time for Mike to rescue some bad beer in his beer lines.
This kit is a basic little hand pump for pushing liquid cleaner through your beverage line and out the faucet of your kegerator. The unique aspect of this set up is that it uses a ball lock connector on the end of some tubing so all you have to do is disconnect the beer line from the keg and then connect it to the hand pump.
The cleaning solution sits in the beer line for 15 minutes and then after a rinse with water, you are good to go.
I view this kit as a quick and easy solution for routine, semi-weekly beer line cleaning. It will keep your lines and faucets satisfactorily clean in between doing a monthly or every other month full breakdown of faucets, tubing and connectors. My favorite part is that I don't need to find an empty keg to put cleaner in anymore - I can just use the hand pump.
CHEERS!

First I'd like to thank the Academy.... Cheers! -Mike
Shoulda done a spit take.
@@SyBernot Next time!
Looks good.
Thanks!
If you get some jumpers to connect the DQs and some tubing to connect the taps you can do all of them at once. I use a garden sprayer from home depot that cost about $7. The same sprayer works for cleaning kegs, running it down the liquid dip tube (one keg at a time). This product looks nicer, I won't lie. Thanks for all your videos!
Thanks Janet - appreciate your comment and tip. - John
Wow. Looks like a must have. Hope available in UK
Google 5 Star North and see if they ship to the UK. - John
Clever little device for the homebrewer.
Yeah, absolutely!
What was your standard beer line cleaning system and how does this compare?
I normally use a caustic based cleaner that I'd put into an empty keg and use up CO2 to push it from the keg into each line. Then its the same let sit, rinse. This little hand pump makes quick work of it. Not 100% sure what the cleaning solution is provided with the kit, but there's no reason in the future to swap out whatever cleaning solution I need. Cheers! -Mike
I just use a 2 gallon handpumped sprayer and fill it with a cleaning solution. You can disconnect the handle and put on a PET ballock on the hose. The cost is around 20 USD and it works for cleaning kegs, picnic taps or whatever needs cleaning.
Right on - thanks for your insight. - John
Nice little outfit. What's the MSRP? LOL Cheers.
Great question. I am uncertain of that at this time. Looks like Amazon will be a primary point of purchase. I will get that info and post it in the description of the video once I have it. Cheers! -Mike
If you search "bar-king beer line cleaning kit" you should find it on amazon. Sells for 30$ - currently sold out though.
@5 Star North Cool. That seems like a fair price point. You could cobble something together yourself for a little cheaper, but its also kind of a pain. I'd pay this for the convenience and small footprint. Cool little product that I look forward to purchasing when available.
@5 Star North actually...Amazon showed 2 in stock...that is now 1 seeing as how I just bought 1 :)

You and I know that did not taste awful =)
You'd be surprised - we're going to talk about it in the next video. - John
It's already unavailable on Amazon. I guess all the 600 + people that have watched so far purchased one!
Ha - interesting. Hope they can restock soon. - John
