I always loved that Paul included Linda in this band - she wasn't a musician but obviously learned. Kinda proves he's really just a sweetheart of a guy-- besides being a talented ex-Beatle world-wide-mega-superstar! LOL
Paul McCartney & Wings/Maybe I'm Amazed LIVE from the live album Wings Over America. This version was a top 10 hit in the USA and is the definitive version of the song.
I always felt that this was a tribute (tongue in cheek) to John Lennon. Sort of an "I'll do you, and I'll do you better than you do." It sounds exactly like Lennon's songs at that time.
@@jennifertierney9076 totally disagree, listen to the middle part where Paul, Linda and Denny are singing different parts at the same time, sound like a choir!!
Bros; Silly Love Songs, Jet, My Love, Band on the Run, Let ‘em In, Live and Let Die are all songs that were hugely successful. It’s funny you chose this song because I’ve never heard it. It actually sounds a lot like a late Beatles song I can’t think of the title.
“Live and let die” is an amazing song by them! I saw wings live…it was an incredible concert and Paul did a few old Beatles songs as well… A real crowd pleaser! Paul’s wife Linda was in the band on keyboard. She died in 1998. She was a photographer back then getting amazing photos of different rock bands back in the 60s. Enjoyed your reaction! 🙂
Paul McCartney and Wings had some great songs, such as Band on the Run, Jet and the James Bond theme from 1973, Live and Let Die - love that song. This one, Let Me Roll It is not so familiar to me, but I really like it. Another song, we all loved as a family (being Scottish) was Mull of Kintyre, great melody and bagpipes etc, so good. It was written as a tribute to the Mull of Kintyre (south west Scotland) where Paul had a farm at the time. It was a huge hit in the UK - No 1 in the UK charts at Christmas in 1977 and it stayed there for another nine weeks. Thanks so much for your reaction, guys, really good as always. Take care now.
Paul McCartney has put out so much widely varied music over the years and it’s difficult to find a bad song anywhere in his catalogue. Such an enduring genius. Perhaps the greatest composer/songwriter of all time. Thank you Sir James Paul McCartney 😇🌷✌️

Paul McCartney said many times he took the title phrase of Let Me Roll It from George Harrison’s song I’D HAVE YOU ANYTIME from George’s first solo outing, which I thought was pretty cool that he didn’t have any problem offering that info
This is almost like a waltz. Paul’s grandfather was a big band leader and Paul is an orchestra leader himself, producing so many different melodies and sounds.
This was my first time hearing this song and I actually REALLY LIKED IT!! This is one of my favourite McCartney songs! It has a real feel of that era to it. His tribute to John, “Here Today” is one of his best later songs. I can’t hear it without tears, it connects to anyone you remember and who isn’t there anymore.
Paul McCartney and Wings had huge success, especially in the 70s after The Beatles broke up. His beautiful wife Linda, RIP, sang backing vocals and played keyboards. Guys check out the following, Live and let die, written for the James Bond movie of the same name. Also, Rockestra with John Bonham in drums. Wings was the group Paul formed after he left the Beatles. He married Linda Eastman who was from the huge Eastman Kodak photography film Corp. She played keyboards and sang in the band, they had 3 children together, and Paul adopted Linda's daughter from her first marriage. She died in 1998 from breast cancer. Paul was devestated for years.
Interesting Album cover concept - besides all the members of Wings, also included great actor *James Coburn* and Christopher Lee, Member of Parliament Clement Freud, talk show host Michael Parkinson, singer Kenny Lynch and boxer John Conteh. When Wings first formed they would crash high school dances and performed these songs for free.
Band on the Run is easily my favourite of Paul's solo albums. He did virtually everything on this album playing most instruments and writing all the words and music. This is such a great underrated song from that LP as well as 1985, Helen Wheels and Mrs. Vandebilt. Try other solo hits from McCartney such as Band on the Run, Jet, Venus and Mars, Junior's Farm etc.
I was 13 years old when this song came out, always really liked it, a bit simple, but, still catchy, and soulful. When listening to it, there's no mistake in who it is. When it comes to what's next, there's so much to choose from. "Uncle Albert", "Live And Let Die", "1985", "With a Little Luck", "Junior's Farm", "Jet", "High High High" and "Helen Wheels" are songs you really can't go wrong with. Awesome reaction, thanks!
Wings lasted from 1971 to 1979 in one form or another with the core always being Paul McCartney, his wife Linda, and former Moody Blues member, Denny Laine. The other original members were Denny Seiwell and Henry McCullough. Jimmy McCulloch and Geoff Britton replaced them and then Joe English replaced Britton. This was probably the most well known lineup which is also the one that is recorded live. Later Jimmy and Joe left and were replaced by Laurence Juber and Steve Holley. This was the final Wings lineup. They had 7 studio albums from this time: Wild Life (1971), Red Rose Speedway (1973), Band on the Run (1973), Venus & Mars (1975), Wings at the Speed of Sound (1976), London Town (1978), and Back to the Egg (1979). They also had a live album, Wings over America (1976) and a compilation album, Wings Greatest (1978). They had 12 top 10 hits in the UK and 14 in the US. You have a lot of exciting listening to look forward to with this group.
Honestly it sounds more like something Lennon would have come up with, but I've always kinda liked this record. It's not top shelf McCartney obviously, but still enjoyable. 50s nostalgia, Glam and Blues tied up with a bow into a neat little package.
The band was down to 2 men when they lost their drummer and lead guitarist right before they headed to Nigeria to record Band on the Run. Ex-Moody Blues Denny Laine played guitar and backing vocals (co-wrote No Words with McCartney the only song that isn't sole McCartney and good tune to listen to). Denny played one guitar on this song and Paul played everything else (guitar, bass, keyboards, drums). Any song on this album is good, Helen Wheels, 1985, Jet, etc. Other songs from other albums: Smile Away, Back Seat of My Car, Hi Hi i Hi, Down to Junior's Farm, Venus and Mars, Magneto and Titanium Man, Rock Show, Used to Be Bad (with Steve Miller)
This was from 1973 Band On The Run album. The whole album is great. I saw Paul and Wings live in 1976, and by that time they had quite a few hits. Concert was over two hours long and each song they did was a Wings hit, or a Beatles classic. I have seen Paul five times, and each show is amazing. His voice is not what it used to be, but just to go see him is reason enough to go every time he is on tour near to my town. I live in San Antonio Texas, and a few years ago, we got to see Paul and Ringo within a week of each other. Ringo played here, at The Tobin Center, then the following week Paul played The Tobin also. I saw George Harrison in 1974 in Houston, but I never got to see John.
The genius of this song is its simplicity. The guitar riff is so brash and repetitive but you just have to accept it and roll with it. McCartney's vocal melody is at a frequency where it just occupies a sweet spot in your head and lasts for days. They could have thrown in a guitar solo but exercised restraint and didn't, which puts the whole Get Back Harrison argument in a different light. I also love the odd timing. You can't guess when the vocals are going to come in each time. And the delay of the drums and bass after each chorus is stellar, particularly the double "boom boom" towards the end followed instantly by McCartney wailing that single note that tails off. No idea how he did that. His vocal control used to be unparalleled. A good choice, this!
The Album Band on the Run is full of great songs.... Band on the Run, Jet, 1985, Mrs Vandebilt, Helen Wheels, Let me Roll it. Was one of the biggest selling albums of all time at one stage
Try Junior's Farm next it's about a farm just right down the road from where I live now. Paul McCartney visited Lebanon Tennessee( just outside of Nashville) in 1974 and wrote this song while he stayed there.

But if you want to follow up with live stuff, don’t miss Wings Over America. Lots’ of great stuff including this song but so much more. Just the opening will hook you. Venus and Mars/Rock Show/Jet! McCartney was and still is a master showman and knows how to hook an audience. I saw him live at Boston Garden in 1976 when the double album came out. Just incredible. It was like a miracle after mourning the breakup in 1969 of the greatest band ever. Enjoy it Bros!

Paul McCartney and Wings - Jet (Remastered 2010)" this song is on their album "Band On The Run" I think McCartney shows his humor in this song. And here's another song they did that was very popular from the album "Venus and Mars "Listen To What The Man Said - Hd Rockshow (Live)" this song was included in a lot of their concerts. I won't say anything more so as to not interfere with your reaction, if you choose to give it a listen.

⚡ Guys, you want an exciting, powerful sound that you won't regret hearing? Have fun listening to RAT BAT BLUE from Deep Purple. 5 minutes of the best rock and roll with one of the craziest keyboard solos ever recorded. 🎹 Guaranteed fun!
"Genius", indeed! This song is all Paul McCartney, no doubt. But, if my information is correct, it is (in a manner of speaking) a Lennon-McCartney composition. Supposedly, Paul purposely wrote this in the style of his ex-partner, in an effort to illustrate how "simple" John Lennon's love songs were. They were both in quite a petty public quarrel at that point in time - fighting like brothers, only doing it "in the street", so to speak, which, for them was their music. John got the upper hand on this one, though, because, in attempting to mimic the stripped down rock n roll style of a Lennon love song, Paul created yet another enduring hit pop song, that helped propel the album "Band On The Run" to exceptional success, and it remains timeless, 48 years later. As great as this version is, listen to the live version on "Wings Over America" that came out a few years later. It takes on a whole new edgy character when it's performed live. Both versions are really exceptional. BTW, Paul played (at least) bass, drums, and organ on this studio recording. That could have even been him doing the guitar work. "Band On The Run" was recorded entirely by Paul, Linda McCartney, and Denny Lane. The other members of the band "Wings" at the time were unwilling to travel to Nigeria, where the album was recorded, because of serious civil unrest there. Paul's original plan was to use the whole band, and supplement them with local Nigerian musicians. However, when the three bravest Wings members arrived in Nigeria, they learned that the talent scout Paul had hired to find him local talent had essentially "skipped town" with the money he paid them. He was able to pull together some locals to record one or two tracks, but not this one. Paul and Linda were also mugged during the recording of this album, while out for a walk one night. Paul ended up in the hospital with symptoms of a heart attack as a result of the encounter. Though it turned out to be a false alarm, it's what led him to decide to quite smoking tobacco. First time watching you guys. This is a great analysis. I enjoyed it very much!
