These days too many people believe in magic and not common sense. The ICF floor system didn't look like what I was expecting. Then again, I've never seen one. Lol. I don't know if builders here in Berea, Ky. use ICF systems. I love seeing the progress. Have a blessed and safe week. Take care.
Appreciate ya watching!
PROTIP: Buy wood from Lowes it already comes pre bent
And… with handy little bungs that pop out so you can penetrate them without a drill!
😂😂
Bowed like a banana and twisted like a screw.
Okay, I've been waiting for this part, very interesting. I've been wondering how that system was going to work, so the lumber inserted into the foam carries much of the load? I was wondering about concrete supporting itself without being excessively thick.
(Also on my best behavior, no jokes about chainsaws and firefighters this morning, I'm still being nice to firefighters, the Texas wildfires came to within 200 feet of where I'm living last weekend, and they popped up again yesterday, and we've had crews from as far away as Arizona sitting on the ranch for over a week now. So I applaud all you firefighters and not forgetting the aerial tanker drivers, for what you do.)
The wood acts as support during the pour and then the studs for ceiling support after. But the concrete will support itself once cures
@@CaptainKleeman.
I figured the studs inserted into the forms is used to hold ceiling tiles or drywall.
Very cool how this is coming together, great video, love watching. I enjoy all your videos. Thank you !
Thanks Andy!
there's your dinner
Why are you blurting out your opinion.. Since you're in the job of teaching you shouldn't you be reading the books on how to do it properly..
Well I’ll be darn! My high school (1965) geometry teacher was right, when she insisted that a very useful triangle to remember is a 3, 4, 5.
Indeed!
entertaining as normal and quite relaxing , then again that could have been sunday roast .
Very impressive sawhorse design.... It looks so good~!
So I don't need to pre-soak wood in deer piss to get it to bend ,like my grandpa taught me when I was 8 yrs old . Learn something new every day ! 🤔
Lol
im surprised you lumber store didnt have lot of precurved wood for you to choose from. lol. that icf sure is slick stuff. sure looks alot of fun to come. thanks for the fun .cheers captain.
Lol, the lumber yard I use takes good care of me
Yep my Home Depot always has a good selection of 🍌 2x4s 😂
“It’s magic, or common sense, one of those two things” I like that saying. Great video buddy.
Lol, hey thanks! Hope all is well in Ohio
Gerat advancement on the cabin, I'm glad you have the ability to do all that figuring, that's something I've never been able to do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lol thanks Tony
Can't wait to see the cabin finished, your ingenuity is impressive and the ability to turn your ideas into a finished product are even better. 👍
Hey thanks!
I'm intrigued. Curious to see how the whole ICF floor comes together with the concrete poor.
Yeah!!!! It's YT yacht time again!!! 😍That electric chainsaw made fast work of them panels 👍 You are getting there .
It worked great. Appreciate ya watching
Very interesting installation. I can understand why you like this product. Thank you for sharing.
Appreciate ya watching!
That boat cabin is looking great Mike, I gotta stop my wife from watching your videos, as she wants 1 of everything you build, including your pond, lol but it is going to be Beautiful, great job Mike , as always: May you and your Family have a Blessed week🙏🙏🙏❤️😎😎😎☀️☀️☀️☀️👍👍👍👍
You never came up you're not very popular.... So when are you going to pill the foaming of that concrete... It would not be too intelligent to leave it there.... And remember my negative posts cost you money you don't make money on my negative posts... And thanks for giving me this angle... If you were to said that to me I would have just said yeah it's not the most intelligent think I've done in my life. Sometimes you have to roll with the punches.. You lost me when you said the little diamond shape was gonna be a circle.. Then you got like 3" of foam around the diamond shaped window how can you miss miss 3".... Was you having a bad day that day or something...
Hey, great questions! This is insulated concrete forms. They have been used in the US since the sixties and have gained popularity over the years. The foam is a permanent part of the wall. It acts as the insulation. One of the great things about ICF is how forgiving it can be. You mentioned large spray foam areas. If a fella has a bad measurement, he just has to spray foam that area to fill in where the ICF would have been, strap it for the pour, and it's good to go! Can't beat it. Appreciate ya watching!
just reminiscing about how fanastic difference cordless drills and impact drivers have made!!
That's the truth!
Caption I want you to know they should not be any question. I think you are doing a GREAT JOB.
Thanks Freddy!
Hi Google captain building a boat on land...
Cap'n what happened? Is everything okay? Blink twice if someone is holding you hostage.... Well something is wrong here because my name is not on the winners list.
🤣😂🤣
🎈Congrats to the winners 🎊🎉🎈
Wow what a difference adding that flooring made to picture the size and layout. That porch is gonna be awesome!!
Thanks Rob!
Now that is a clever floor system there Bud !!! The squeak of the polystyrene and the pitter patter of the rain made my day !!! 😁
Alternative use of tools shows your adapt and overcome firefighter attitude throughout Mike !!! 🤓🤓🤓
Mike have you bought your portholes yet. Ours are I believe aluminum and glass which we would be delighted for you to have. Can you let me know the size you will be needing for the portholes.
Captain, just an idea.
When you need the bed think about a Murphy bed.
They have plans and even hardware kits for them online.
With drawers built in for storage space and either night tables or shelves on either side.
That would free up some floor space for occupants during the day.
I thought it was funny when you channeled Andrew Camarata to use a chain saw to cut those blocks like he did to install a stereo in the dash of his truck.
Darn things have so many out of the box abnormal uses most people would never think of.
I hope your able to begin renting it by mid year.
I'm sure you could use the added income to begin saving up for another rental cabin on that new property you bought last year.
Good luck.
After so much time and you posting your own failures people are gonna realize you're just rambling for better or for worse.
Failures? How else does a fella learn lol
Ok I believe you but I’m sooo confused. Glad you know what you’re doing.
Dang it, man, nice saw horses!!!
Fancy lol
“Like magic…or common sense. One of the two.” 🤣 You are a true classic Mike. Keep the videos coming!
Thanks Andy!
I think you're taking some of that tile pipe plastic pipe and put along each side of that down in that gravel and pull the water away from that and out some other way out to the back of it I put it in front of it I don't care but it just seems like it should be some kind of tile and air pulled whip the water away
Was one of the first things we did. Appreciate ya watching
I cried, you really are a master craftsman, even the saw horses magically appearing had me me in stitches. This is going to be every bit as good as you've led us to believe. Only thing missing was a family visit, but I know that'll be soon.
Thanks Ian!
Wow you obviously put a lot of thought in to the design.. The bow facing the west to catch the sunset.. niiice!!!
Thanks!
Your "Outro's" are really giving you a hard time as of late.......let make them
142 on the list of things to do
Part of my comment didn't show up so here it is.
You have said that you are using UA-cam revenue to build the yacht. Is the little revenue from merch sales considered UA-cam revenue?
What a fantastic project hopefully you will do a play list so we can watch from start to finish I have been involved in the building trade for over 40years and to see the difference in systems from what we have in Scotland is night and day can't wait to see the finished project and your goat and chicken barn is a master piece keep up the good work 😀 👍
Mike you need to create a routine for your outro similar to how we do CAN reports! Then they'll be a banger each time! Stay safe brother!
Isn't it heavy, does it roll?
I did absolutely nothing today. 😞Arthur has been biting hard. Hopefully you won't get to know Arthur Itis. This F🤬ing getting old ain't for wussies. 😟 I've got so much shi-stuff to do and it takes me forever to do anything. Like I said earlier today, " I can still complain about it so I'm doing Great... it is when I stop complaining is when I'm in real trouble.😁🤦"
Nuff about me ... NOT 🤣😂🤣 .... I hope to find you in good spirits .... at least 80 proof. 🤣😂🤣
How is Everyone doing in your neck of the woods? Like always your video is like a fine wine .... bitter and makes me dizzy.... O sorry that's the taste of the meds they are kicking in...LOL
Hope Arthur stops bothering you today!
Bravo Mike tu super fait un bon travail bravo Tu et formidable tu et le meilleur 🇨🇵🇨🇵🇨🇵🤗🤓😘de papy Gilbert de France bisous bisous
I'm always amazed as to how you get so much accomplished by yourself! You use techniques I would never think of. Now to wait till Thursday.
Appreciate ya watching!
shape the styrofoam with your chainsaw to get the right angles that you're wanting....
Interesting floor system, never seen it before but it looks good. Keep smilin
Thanks Darren!
Your ability to figure out all the things you do is amazing. Can"t wait to see the ICF floor being finished. Keep up the good work and the entertaining vids.
Thanks Steve!
Cool shark cage in the boat. LOL
😂😂
layout an 8 sided octagon on plywood then mark center and scribe and cut your circle
Looking forward to the next update; doing a great jorb!!
Thank you!
.....und wo schlafen Deine Gäste ? Wenn Du ein Badezimmer hast, denkt man doch an Übernachtung....
The One I’ve all been Waiting for,
On today's episode, we see an genius builder use tools for jobs other than their intended purposes. A Subi station wagon is now a service truck, a Dewalt impact driver used as a hammer, and an electric chainsaw used to cut Styrofoam forming material. Unorthodox? Yes. Did it work? Also yes. This man has the most entertaining content on UA-cam! Good job Cap, stay safe brother.
Appreciate the kind words!
That's the firefighter showing through
@@dougyurecko6500after 30 years of service in the fire service, I've learned that you never know what to expect from a fireman. Lol
Good to see something happening. It's been a minute or three..
hi, CK,,,,,,,, 42.48 gut room ! is that an unfortunate reference to large people .
That's a reference to people who build unrealistic tables and bench sets.
@@CaptainKleeman thanks for the clarification ,lol.
The chainsaw is brilliant
💪
Great video Cap'n! For those who cringe with squeaky styrofoam, this is a good one. It's always fun to see a plan come together and I look forward to every episode. BTW, you are the King of Outtros, as always. Good to see our predictable Indiana weather is continuing. Warm, cold, rain, snow, wind, back to rain, repeat. Be blessed and stay safe.
Weather definitely keeps us on our toes!
Awesome is what it is CK! if I lived there, I'd be your first customer.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you sir!
So satisfying watching your videos Mike 🏴
Thanks!
This love awesome with just the foam👍🏾❤️
Gonna be awesome when it's done and a great video 👍
Thanks for watching!
thanks for the video Captain as always hihi
💪
I’m just curious, is it annoying to get asked questions in the comments that you addressed directly in the video?
Depends on the brother
@@CaptainKleeman seems reasonable.
How many years of rental before you recoup your investment..Amazing work you're doing..
We are using UA-cam revenue to build this.
I have asked so many people to show 3-4-5 they either ignore me or do a blah answer. Thank you for showing it and thank goodness for all that math I never use after highschool 🤪😂😆 . Such a great and quick way to prove yourself. As always good luck and God Bless you.
Lol thanks Mark! Hope the 3,4,5 made sense
hey captain you need three arms with hands LOL
Hi Mike it truly is a amazing 🤩 experience watching you work. They way you figure out how to do so much by yourself. And the amazing technique and skill you use. You come with way of do things I wouldn't of thought of. I think this project is awesome. Can't wait to see it finished. Keep up the great work you always do. 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you Ron!
What kind of Magic bird call @ 12:32 did you do, where you point across the sky and bird follows. Amazing! lol.
😂
Pretty sure I was at holdfast picking up my Delta MS while they were loading your order.. Glad to see you back building this thing.
Oh very cool!
Hey captain the UA-cam yacht is coming along well going to be sweet when done bud. Your always saying that your not good on you outro's well bud I think your fibbing your a master at it because I been watching your channel for years and your the best at them, I look forward to seeing them.so that should tell yea something.lol 😆😆keep up the great work, video's see you on the next one 👏✌️😎👌👍🇺🇲
I definitely appreciate the kind words!
Mike another fantastic 5 ⭐ video love the progress and I hope to catch yah on the next one God bless y'all from Gaffney South Carolina viewer ❤️
Thank ya Daniel!
Mike that is unreal Now I see your vision taking foot before it was just hard to visualize. I hope you are looking at the boats on the river for lighting ideas ....amber lights along the rails, Red on the Port (left).... Green on the Starboard (right) White on top of the mast and rear. Hope you are able to pour concrete soon. Did you get the patch I sent?
Navigation Lights would be a cool touch!
SALUDOS KLEEMAN FROM CLIFTON N.J ANOTHER GREAT VIDEO AND ANOTHER GREAT WORK, AND ALL DID IT BY YOURSELF. G.B.Y.
💪
Man those walls are dirty! You want to clean them before putting up the floor. :) Is the surface water a leak in the wall or just surface water form the rain. Very interesting system.Very cool looking and looking more like a boat! Thank you and have a great day.
Rain
I like it. I wish I could help you as you are working with systems I am not familiar with. You are a craftsman. Love the channel
Appreciate ya watching!
Lol love the outro Capt. you don't have to say it, we know what you mean. I believe cutting the ICF with the chainsaw falls under the smoke em if ya got em category. The cabin os looking great and really coming together nicely. Also I think you were right to call common sense magic as plenty of people these days have no clue how it works lol. Keep up the great work, can't wait for the next one 😁 👍
Lol very true.
Mike I like where you're going with this. I'm not rich enough for a Lazer level, could a water level work? 😉
Water levels work great for this! I have one I still use from time to time.
In Alabama, we build houses out of wood😅, so I have no idea what you are doing, but instead of acting ignorant I will just wait for a few more videos and see if it makes sense. I'm sure you have the master plan-enjoyed it.
Lol, I like your style
You amaze me with Al your skills.
Its coming together, looks good...
Hey thanks!
No camera falls, no dropping to the floor from a great height, no dodging forms or timber being swung around. This is simply not good enough, we want the real Mike back with all the danger that presents to the viewer.
Lol
Do you plan on treating for bugs when complete? The only reason I asked is because I hear alot of companies won't treat ICF in the northeast.
It can be treated for bugs if one wants to just like any other building material. Companies that don't treat ICF don't believe in their product very well apparently
I saw a video 2 weeks ago where a guy used a chaulk line, took a board put it on bottom sill and tapped the top to the chaulk line then cut. Sounds like a cool trick. Though I would share that with you.
Those outros are just so tough.
You just hate too say goodbye. Lol
God bless.
Thanks!
@33:00 I hope you realize that you are "screwing up"!!! 😳 It happens to the best of us... and me too! 🤪
Lol good one!
Watching from France (and absolutely lovin' every second of it !), I'm thinking y'all American folks must be real geniuses when it comes to mathematics with all them fractions you use with your feet and inches, them 15/16th and 7/8th and all... You just can't imagine how metrics make this all SOOOOOO much more simple !!! 😅 Anyhow, I'm so glad you've gotten to this point Mike ! Can't wait to see it all done and rented. Cheers, Lt Cpt ! 😊
Lol
We are not "geniuses." Carpenters here use base twelve math. Sorry you can't function with it. It is really not that hard.
@@valdo345jr Not saying I couldn't, I've lived for a bit in the US and loved every bit of it, except for all the measuring/weighing/volumes units. My US friends who visited or lived overseas absolutely LOVED the metric system which is way more simple. We used to use base twelve math here too but switched about 200 years ago to metric. Actually, the whole world did little by little except for the US, Liberia and Myanmar.
@@franz357, I can function with metric. And, you're right. It is easier. As a machinist I had two sets of instruments. One standard, one metric. If the print was metric, all the standard instruments went back in my tool box. All the metrics were near to hand. My problem is when someone hands me a standard tape the asks for the dimensions in metric. My conversion math is not that good. You want metric? Give me metric tools.
I like the chain saw. Good video.
Thanks Mike!
It's looking better and better, Capt! Got a lot done, but also a bunch more to do. I know I sure wouldn't mind staying there for a weekend or so
Thanks Phillip
Not your first rodeo Mike you know the system it’s really starting to show itself nice work Bud remember measuring tapes don’t lie lol 👍
Thanks Alan!
Really coming together and looking great. Take care and have a blessed day and I'll see you on your next video.
Thanks Billy!
I actually like to try and type questions into the text box, and will wait till the end of the video to send it just to make sure they are answered or not. Only issue is when you have a Queue and you have text unsent and the video switches, it gets erased. But I am sure you have people ask questions like that, a lot!
Lol, well I appreciate the thought anyway
You're getting better at the endings. Or should I saw more awkward. Just makes it interesting.
Lol thanks!
I've done some ICF in the past, but nothing fun like your ICF.
Great progress so far.
Thank you!
It's looking really good Mike, well done :)
The big question is: "Will the paddle wheel spin fast enough to fan cold air through the window on a hot day?".
Lol
You will need more help with this pour. "All hands on deck." Hope it goes well. Cheers Captain.
Lol thanks Keith!
Looks good Mike, thanks for sharing! 👌🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻🇺🇸
Thanks Kirk!
Looks like you have used a chain saw for that before when working for DP, looked great either way
Thanks!
thank you for a good vid kaptain.
Appreciate ya watching
very methodical work - very competent - you do good stuff mister- keep it up. makes perfect sense to me.
Thanks James!
Hard to believe that people don't pay attention to your videos...squirrel
Lol
Nicely done sir. You just keep finding new ways to use the little Ryobi saw
It's handy!
really need to see the laser level and you starting to frame this thing
This guy is so lost on common sense he thinks that negative comments boosts his popularity.. He thinks they make him money.
Lol,. They do bud! Thumbs down and thumbs up count the same on the algorithm. Feel free to thumbs down the rest of my videos as well! 😉
i would, have a broom around to keep the work place clean.? 👧👈👺👀
Oh sure, I'll add it to the list
