Also I never had an issue with cables, if it wasn't a data cable nothing happened for me. Would avoid using a non-data cable though. Better safe than sorry.
This was the easiest video to follow on this subject so far. It's weird that they designed it in a way that the standard micro USB cable could possible cause damage but I'm really glad you mentioned that. I have a ton of them hanging around but most are probably from phones and Bluetooth headphones for charging so again I'm super glad you mentioned this! I hope you make more like this in the near future.
Thank you Paul! And yeah, it’s kinda sad that the current board does not support micro USB cable charging, but the Proffie V3 board (pending release hopefully this year) should support it, so mess ups with the wrong cable may actually be eliminated and go unpunished there. It makes it very convenient, and eliminates a bit of the risk, so that’s really nice in my opinion. But until then, we all have to be very careful with our cable management around the Proffie 2.2, I keep all of my data cables far away from all of my charging cables.

The coding part reminds me a lot of the stuff I had to code in Marlin for my 3Dprinter when I built it (All the way down to having a config.h file; which is no shock because my printer's mainboard uses an STM32 processor chipset as well). Nice video. I hold onto a basic text file with my blade profiles by font. If I get a new saber or want to change one up, it’s just a matter of copy/pasting them to the config. Personally, I always have to use Zadig. Not a big deal, but it does make it a build requirement that I have access to the board. Must have access to the boot/reset buttons.
I’ve just ordered my first proffie lightsaber and I want to put some sound fonts/blade effects on it. This video was very informative but I’m still nervous of screwing the coding and breaking it
If you don’t mind sharing, where exactly did you get your proffie saber? I’m interested in getting my first one but the sound I found for one needs to be a proffie saber.
To the people watching this video and wondering if the usb cable sabertrio provides works for proffie. IT DOESNT!!!! it will fry your board. I learned the hard way.
A USB cable has four wires, two are power and two are data. A data cable, has all four wires while a power only cable is missing the two data wires. So what probably is frying people's proffie board are defective cables (even data ones can be defective).
Dumb question: what if our original saber provider didn't include a Config H File in the SD card? I bought one off of Artsabers and I'm currently SOL as far as changing the blade styles for each of the included presets even if I swap out the sounds the easy way.
Once you’ve downloaded the latest version at the start, how do you get that to the board, how do you update to the latest version and get it from your computer to saber
Not sure if you are able to answer this question but I’m going to throw it out there since it’s confusing me a lot. I have two proffie sabers installed by a reputable Etsy saber installer, and they are well installed from what I can tell. I have the skills to add fonts, blade styles, gestures, etc. to the board and I have done so with both sabers. Everything is working fairly flawlessly except for one strange issue. On both sabers, wherever there is white in a blade style on the config (main blade color or other effects) , the blade will display a light orange-white color instead of true white. What’s even odder Is that when the sabers are fully charged, the programmed white looks like white as it should, but as the battery drains, the more orange it gets. I’ve tried three blades on both sabers, (and every sensible physical fix and adjustment) and no difference. I appreciate you taking the time to read this and if you’re unable to help if you could point in the direction of someone that could that would be great.
@@LandoSabers wow that's totally not what I expected (which I guess is a good thing), and I'm glad nothing's wrong with the sabers. Thanks for the info.
Your USB Cable link goes to "Rankie Micro Charging" is that stil lthe same cable? I have the issue that all the cables i see are data-charging cables, so i am screwed?
Is there still not a way to do this without plugging the board in directly? I managed to break of the micro USB port on my board due to making the mistake of sitting my saber next to me while plugged in with rowdy siblings... they run around, they bump the saber, off the table it goes, while still plugged in... YOINK... you get the idea.. I've been desperately trying to find a workaround for a couples years now....
So I did all of this and I am getting the "#include expects "FILENAME" or " error even though I have the name exactly correct and have followed all instructions perfectly. Now my sd file isn't showing up and the sound fonts no longer work on my lightsaber. Can you help?
Hey buddy. How would you feel about redacting the "charging only" cable part? It's constantly a battle when trying to support new users now a year later. Also, 8 character limit is for Teensysabers only.
hello really a great detailed tutorial congratulations. I'm a novice I'm trying to learn how to configure with Arduino and to start I want to try the first method ... I have a small question the first method you show or go to insert a font in an already existing one on the sd card without connecting the sword to the pc by replacing the two fonts the style of the blade remains that of the old font but all the sounds of the new font change the typical smooth swing sounds or the sound of the character's blade by inserting a new font only does the visual aspect remain the same as the old font?
Ridiculous. Reminds me of the phrase “grant us one miracle, and we’ll give you all the rest”… want the miracle of proffie? Perform the miracle of getting the sd card out without destroying something 😂
This may be a stupid question, but do you need to still take out your micro SD card and use the card reader if the saber has a micro usb slot (eg. LGT sabers have accessible micro usb port for charging). Can fonts etc be transferred that way with a data cable or is it solely for charging and you still need to change things via the reader and card itself?
I just purchased a proffie 2.2 lightsaber & I am struggling even after watching your video, I followed all the steps but I get stuck & can't find the config.h file at all.
13:55 If I have one board thats 2.2 and another that's 3.6, does that mean I have to go to Board Manager and remove 3.6 and install 2.2 and vise versa every time I want to upload fonts?
I think I see what could be a config file on mine, but there are 4 and they all have what looks like the same exact code on them. Which one should I put into Arduino IDE? Also, does it need 4 of them? If anyone can help, please let me know.
Hey lando! Just want to thank you for the amazing and informative content. Your info led me to purchase a shade v2, and I'm pumped to get started in the saber community! (And a bit nervous about editing the profiles😅)
Nice I got the proffie neopixel shade aswell, amazing saber. I wanted to add more fonts to it but realised that adding fonts on proffies are not very user friendly for people, especially newbies like me.

@@wombatfour372 for me the audio is only slightly crackly on some of the fonts when you swing it hard, do you have the proffie neopixel version? If you do the one we have is like literally the cheapest proffie neopixel you can buy anywhere, so I wouldn’t expect top notch sound from it. Where are you based by the way?

Can u do an update video for 2023 on how to upload sound fonts? My Sabertrio is Skylar hilt with a 2.2 version proffie board. Has it gotten easier or difficult to add changed sound your Sabertrio light saber?
Anyone know how to fix my problem: My config that came on my SD card is a .txt file, not a .h file. So when I put it in the config folder of PROFFIEOS, it doesn’t work bc it’s the run file type
Hey Lando, I bought the sound font “chosen one” from Ksith, and bought it so I could use the villain font and have the younglings scream when I deflect blasters. It comes automatically with the normal blaster sound, and I checked the extras file on the font I bought and it does include the screaming sound. When I copy those, and paste it into the blaster file (on the SD card) I have to delete the previous sound (normal blaster sound) after doing that and pasting the scream sound in, it doesn’t make any noise on my saber when I try to deflect blasters. It just hums like the saber is just on, resting. Can you please help me? Thank you
Good Video, very nice explanation. But as a tip i would recommend "notepad ++" to edit the config. Because it will show you if you forget a comma or something Like that. It shows you also in which line you are which is helpful if you have made a mistake because arduino tells you in which line the error is.
There are settings you can configure in Arduino that does the same thing :) I didn’t recommend Notepad ++ because I have tried downloading it NINE times on my PC and it has never worked once. Have no clue what’s going on there.
I supose you can add a new folder and just add a new line in your roots config file without deleting other folders right? Or do you have a limited number of entries?
dude I messed up after I flashed it now I get static noise when i put in the battery and have light but no sound is there a way I can reset or even send it to someone trust worthy so they can do the fonts?
Is there any difference for os 6.9 or 7.7 see everyone still recommending this video for adding fonts. i swear to god im doing the same copy paste and replace for the config but my presets are different and dont have the word at at the end. some are like Int>>>>()}, and some are ,TrWipeIn,Black>>>()},
I don't know where you got your information about USB cables, and you may have found this out since then, but here it is: All data transfer cables are charging cables, but all charging cables are not data transfer cables. There is no such thing as a USB Transfer cable that doesn't also have the positive and negative charging wires. All USB cables have the positive and negative wires used to charge the device. Not all USB cables have the data exchange wires, so charging only cables are typically more narrow than charging/transfer cables. Devices that aren't supposed to be charged through the USB port don't have the positive and negative contacts in the port. If you fried your sound board, it wasn't from the proper use of a USB cable. If you plugged a charging only cable into your Sound Board, it shouldn't have done any damage because if the Sound Board isn't meant to be charged through that port, it won't have the positive and negative wires in the port. Either something else fried your Sound Board, you managed to somehow force the USB cable into the port the wrong way, which still shouldn't allow the positive and negative wires to make contact with the port, or someone wired the port onto the Sound Board incorrectly and you got voltage through a data transfer circuit. It is next to impossible to harm a device by plugging a USB cable into it. The only negative affect of using a charging only cable would be that you can't transfer data. In case you are skeptical, just google it.
Im having a confusing issue. Once i verify my config and plug in my proffieboard it comes up as butterfly-l433cc. I will go to board and select proffieboard v2 and it will show proffieboard v2 on com3 in the bottom right corner of the program. Once the sketch begins to download to the board it will then say proffieboard v2 not connected but yet it will go through the whole download procedure and i will get an alert from the saber once its done but yet i will not have the new sound font and blade style when i go to test it.
So can I edit any preexisting soundfonts? Let’s say for example I want to replace a power on sound on a preexisting soundfont with another different power on soundfont. Would it work?
I clicked the Amazon link for the data cable. They appear to be described as “high speed data and charging”. How can I be sure it won’t try to charge and leave me with a fried board?
Hey Guys I really need help. Cuz my TXQ aint came with an Config File. The one I got from somewhere else... I can't get them to work? whos able to help me? I would pay for it.
This doesn't work for me, and idk why. I've tried like 5 times, following step by step through the video. And because it successfully worked, I feel like I've been ripped with the lightsaber I bought and the Saber sounds/effects too from the website for downloading new effects and sounds.
I already feel better knowing Lando's fried a saber just like all of us.
I wanted to be able to feel the pain. It was very felt.

Took me a few times to iron out all the kinks, but thank you so much for this video!
I’ve just ordered my first proffie lightsaber and I want to put some sound fonts/blade effects on it. This video was very informative but I’m still nervous of screwing the coding and breaking it
Same
If you don’t mind sharing, where exactly did you get your proffie saber? I’m interested in getting my first one but the sound I found for one needs to be a proffie saber.
really wish there was a stream this week
You are the best mate, I had trouble for hours and your video saved me, I can't thank you enough dude. Thanks Sooo Much
To the people watching this video and wondering if the usb cable sabertrio provides works for proffie. IT DOESNT!!!! it will fry your board. I learned the hard way.
Thanks so much for this video and adding a level of anxiety with my cable I never knew existed.
You should make another one of these for Proffie OS 6.7! Love watching your vids and would love to follow along with you
A USB cable has four wires, two are power and two are data.
Cyberpunk and JFO. My mans got taste, and good advice! Thanks!
I’m going to have to watch this video 10 times over again
ABSOLUTLEY BEST TUTORIAL. THANK YOU!!!!!
That’s the nature of white and Neopixel sabers. It drains the battery super fast, and eventually it turns orange or pinkish.
Also, 8 character limit is for Teensysabers only.
dont even have a proffie board yet but gonna keep re watching and practicing until i do thats for sure
hello really a great detailed tutorial congratulations.
Great Vid Lando, thank you! I use the same data cables. They are very reliable - work perfectly.
My Anakin saber is IMPOSSIBLE to remove the SD card
Ridiculous. Reminds me of the phrase “grant us one miracle, and we’ll give you all the rest”… want the miracle of proffie? Perform the miracle of getting the sd card out without destroying something 😂
@@sublimechimp It was an LGT they like glued over the SD card , I refunded it never buying from LGT or TXQ ever again
Perfect timing
I couldn’t agree more!! Amazing video!
Yes
@@blake_1146 I'm not going to lie, I was so happy when I got it. But only a week after, the audio started to crackle, pop, and cut out after a few seconds. I will credit them, their customer support got to me very quick and suggested I ship it back. So we will see how it goes.
@@blake_1146 just a heads up as to a possible difficulty
@@wombatfour372 for me the audio is only slightly crackly on some of the fonts when you swing it hard, do you have the proffie neopixel version? If you do the one we have is like literally the cheapest proffie neopixel you can buy anywhere, so I wouldn’t expect top notch sound from it. Where are you based by the way?
@@blake_1146 Hey, sorry I diddnt notice this reply until now. I do have a neopixel, and what I mean by crackle is it actually had decent audio for the price, but when I turn on my saber it crackles and literally POPS for a few seconds, then turns off. Finally getting around to getting it handles though.
Amazing vid. I read a whole bunch of scary jibberish online, and your vid cleared everything up! Ty !
Once you’ve downloaded the latest version at the start, how do you get that to the board, how do you update to the latest version and get it from your computer to saber
YESSS thank you!
Can u do an update video for 2023 on how to upload sound fonts? My Sabertrio is Skylar hilt with a 2.2 version proffie board. Has it gotten easier or difficult to add changed sound your Sabertrio light saber?
Anyone know how to fix my problem:
My config that came on my SD card is a .txt file, not a .h file.
Thank you
Nevermind Lando, I’m so stupid, I forgot to rename them when I put it in!🤪😂🤣 thanks for all you do bro
Thank you I was going to try a tutorial just to try it and see if I can do it because I definitely would have fried it
Good Video, very nice explanation.
But as a tip i would recommend
"notepad ++" to edit the config.
@@LandoSabers ohh i didn't have any problems with Notepad++. But where are those settings in arduino so that i can use it?
I supose you can add a new folder and just add a new line in your roots config file without deleting other folders right? Or do you have a limited number of entries?
dude I messed up after I flashed it now I get static noise when i put in the battery and have light but no sound is there a way I can reset or even send it to someone trust worthy so they can do the fonts?
Yes there is.
Good timing!
I don’t have this aniflex config file on my sd card. What should I do now?
Who do you recommend to get classes in how to configure profile or any kind on sabers install or configuring making?
Is there any difference for os 6.9 or 7.7 see everyone still recommending this video for adding fonts.
i swear to god im doing the same copy paste and replace for the config but my presets are different and dont have the word at at the end. some are like Int>>>>()}, and some are ,TrWipeIn,Black>>>()},
is there an updated version of this tutorial?
Is the cord that comes with your sabertrio saber the right cord? it LOOKS like a micro usb, but i do not know if it is a charging one or a data cable.
Hi quick question with Darth vader V2 Soundfont how do i replace Kylo with that?
