I’ve owned one of these for a couple of years now and I love it. I am just re-visiting old reviews to remind myself why NOT to go getting the seductive new Triumph Scrambler 400 !
@@COYGunners I have only had a quick look and a sit on the 400x. I really like the look of it. The cost and availability of Fantic parts and accessories is a bit concerning... Although mine is still going strong and it is a great little bike. If I was getting a new one today I would probably get the Triumph.
This is the bike Ducati should have built. It's an absolute hoot of a moto which really has to be ridden to be appreciated. My wife sold her DL650 in the summer and was looking for something light, nimble that could do some off road that was FUN! This bike is that and the quality of the cycle parts is very high, way better than any product of China. Ricardo had a hand in developing the engine and the 40hp are exciteable Italian horsepowers! She went for the LTD Edition in baby blue. Great service from Martin at MHB Motorcycles who knows the bikes inside out. The brakes are also stunning and it runs on the slightest wiff of petrol for miles and miles and miles. Highly recommended.
I really like the retro styling along with the daily use ability, I have to say it’s a winner in my book. I trust you will all have a great Christmas Ladies & Gents. Thanks.
I love watching your channel and seeing the many bikes we don't get in the states. As soon as I saw the engine in the beginning of the video I knew this is going to be a great bike! I have a Zongshen RX4 with that same NC450 engine.
I agree with what you say about over quoting engine capacity, the Italians seem to have been guilty of it regularly. In the past I've owned a Moto Guzzi SP1000, actual capacity 949cc, a Laverda 1200 actual capacity 1116cc, the 1970's Benelli 250 Quattro was in reality 231cc, the Benelli 654 wasn't a 650, it was 604cc. Triumph were also guilty of over quoting capacity with the first T140V Bonnevilles in 1973, they weren't a full 750, only 724cc, they were soon replaced by the 744cc version that were used on Meriden and Newton Abbot built Bonnevilles. You didn't mention about the Fantic 50cc and 125cc Chopper models of the 1970's, they are now fetching serious money as collectors items.
I was first drawn to the 125 when I was looking for a good first bike for my son. These bikes are beautiful but expensive compared to the obvious (chinese) competition. But there's no denying the quality of these machines, especially the "500s". Don't think the loud exhaust is necessary or desirable; the standard exhaust sounds great! And I really want one!
I spent a great deal of time deliberating between this and the Mash XRide 650, I eventually opted for this and the only thing I can say is YEEEEEEEEEEEEEAH BAYYYYBEEE
Getting mine in 2 weeks-same as this one but without the fancy pipe. Downsizing from a KTM990SMT. I wanted something lighter and lower to blat around the lanes, ride to the gym, take the wife for short runs to a nice pub in sunny evenings and do some mild off reading. Not a bike for long stints on dual carriageways but can manage it. Ridiculously simple tool to use on tight twisty B and C roads and can handle A roads pretty well if you lower expectations as it’s definitely not got the power for it. If you haven’t tried a light bike sub 150Kg then it’s a bit of a surprise-in a good way-as it just works in a low maintenance kind of way. Suspension is really surprisingly good for the price. The engine is really smooth to the point it could be a twin.
I saw this outside your shop ...I have to say I thought it looked gorgeous..classy and well put together...I think this or the Mash for me next year ...merry Christmas chaps keep up your excellent videos ....and can you do another one on clothing sometime as the last one was really good..
Ado usually refers to fuss, concern, or time wasted due to trivialities or troubles. It is most often found in the phrases "without much ado," meaning "without much fuss," or "without further ado," meaning "without further delay." Adieu on the other hand, is a French word that refers to a farewell. It often follows bid, as in "I bid you adieu," as a rather dramatic way of saying "goodbye."
Interested but shame there’s nowhere to test ride one yourself. Can’t see me ever buying a bike without a test ride no matter how good your reviews are.

Great Video Love it specially the Green one with Brown Seat!..i am still a Bit undecided because heard of many blown " cylinderhead gaskets" and early worn sprocket dampers, some Suspension issus with broken parts...was there an Update to These issues in 2020?
Lights dial/switch - No from me Ofcentre fuel cap - No from me (ocd too) lol With all the extras added on exhaust etc (which you will want) the price is up there with a 2/3year old low mileage Ducati or Triumph scrambler (800-1200cc) with all the bells and wistles on it! So for the same price to have a 450 chicheng(or however its spelt lol) on the side, I personally couldn't justify the price...saying that...bike does look fun 👍
There's some nice detailing on that bike a bit of looker, but the price made me eye's water a bit. Can I sell you a Mini 850 under the guise that it's a 2.8 ltr? Agree with over sizing bikes that aren't what is written on the tin.

Actually the 125cc engine isn't yamaha's. It's built by Minarelli which was owned by Yamaha. Now Fantic owns Minarelli. Also, many manufacturers misquote the engine capacity. Japanese for example still call their 1050cc engine 1000cc because they know how their fans are stuck on 1000cc wording "True 1000c" "Litre bike".... :)) Same goes with KTM that calls the 1301cc superduke R 1920 :)). Only Ducati usually use the exact engine capacity to name their bikes.
Had a 500 for a few months now and it's a great bike. Can you clarify you comment re. this exhaust, ie would it fail an MOT with one of these fitted? Keep up the great reviews guys
Exhausts on MOT's are only really down to sound (emissions are not part of a bike test); and even sound is mostly down to the testers discretion; as long as it doesn't actually state "Offroad only" on it and I don't think it does. The exhaust is provided by Fantic as an option and they do state offroad only to take them as accepting blame, out of the running if the rozzers want to be arsey.
