Raimi had a plan but Sony ruined it.
The black suit stuff was some of the best parts of the film. Like black suit Spiderman vs sandman and the part where Peter fights Harry but is ruthless cuz of the black suit. I don't mind the black suit being introduced in Spiderman 3. But the venom reveal should've been a stinger. Venom shouldn't have been a main villian in a movie that already has sandman and goblin
@@condorgaming4000 The black suit looked cool but i still prefer the comic book black suit with the big white spider symbol just like in comics. They still should have done venom in 4th movie and have him get the symbiote black suit at the end of the movie with better casting for eddie brock. The movie really sucked basically because of how they did venom and the story they rushed the movie instead of using venom they should have used the vulture not venom.
This change to the film makes sense. With Harry and MJ dead, it makes Peter gaining the venom symbiote and his actions while under its influence very relatable: with that kind of power we could do anything, so why shouldn't we when the "responsibility" to those we care about isn't there? If Gwen has the personality of the comic book Mary Jane, then the love interest thread is restored, giving Peter some renewed fight in the final climax against Venom. Add in the traditional wronged reporter backstory for Eddie Brock and a redeemed Sandman to help Peter and you've got a great Spider-Man 4 film.
Seems ok. I don't think ending with Gwen Stacey was a good idea though. MJ just died, give him some time to mourn before meeting a new girl otherwise he could come across as shallow and like he didn't care that much. He could meet Gwen and start a budding romance in the next movie.
It's not like he goes out on a date with her or even flirts in this version. They just meet. That plants the seeds of them bonding over their grief in the next movie. He and Gwen could bump into each other and start talking. As their relationship deepens, Peter could struggle with guilt for having feelings for her and even push her away at some point, thus eliminating any claims of him being shallow or moving on too quickly. Besides, I always hate it when a franchise introduces characters as they become relevant instead of making them a part of that world before the plot demands it.
No, I think John’s right. When you go for a tragic end like this, you can’t have him meet the next girl at the end for a hope spot. It does take away from the message, *especially* after doing that death scene.
@@readsomebooks666 that was my general thought. It's not impossible to do that ending, but it's be hard to pull it off it a good way. It has to be clear there's no immediate romantic interest and their leaning on each other solely for comfort.
I agree on the poor choice to immediately imply a new romance starts, idon't agree that they should not have met... let them meet and just grieve together. I think they too were classmates once upon a time or am I confusing something? But just platonic / functional for the mere grief. Have him use something Aunt May said earlier about loved ones we lost and have THAT symbolize that he is not well yet, far from it, but will get there, just don't do any cheesy romance BS at an open grave or two of them.
I honestly like this a lot, I think that Peter loosing his friends and fiancee because he chose revenge is a fitting consequence to the actions he chose to take, that he found peace with Uncle Ben's killer is good and that he now has to move on from loosing his best friend and the woman he loved is a good dramatic punch to the story.
@@soybasedjeremy3653 I can see it Peter is basically growing up so he won't exactly need her in his life that much Mary Jane that's a little bit different since he may eventually marry her but the question is what do you do with her after you can't exactly have her go back to acting or have her try being a model like she is in the comics forever

Every Spider-Man film, in Sam Raimi’s trilogy, had Spider-Man doing a swing through New York. If this is how the film had gone, imagine during Spider-Man’s speech on revenge ends with him landing on a building in front of MJ’s poster being taken down. That’d be pretty sad.
@@falkofscrum Yeah, but with studio mandate, they would've had most likely have him use Two Face and Riddler anyway. The whole reason they went with Schumaker, and took Burton off was due to the studio having a completely different vision. Had the studio kept Burton, even with their inteferring mandates...Burton would've made way better movies. I liked having Riddler and Two Face in Forever, Poison Ivy and Bane in Batman and Robin, but the execution of it was garbage.
Let's not forget that the addition of Venom to Spider-Man 3 was not Sam Raimi‘s idea. Without Venom, you still would have had the same film. It simply would have felt smaller and more refined because of not having to shoehorning in elements that were ultimately unnecessary. The idea of Harry Osborn becoming Hobgoblin rather than another Green Goblin is a nice touch, though. You don't really need to change much else.
Executive Meddling: The reason Venom and Gwen are in it (though Eddie Brock was always planned, just not his alter-ego). -Venom and the entire symbiote arc weren't supposed to be in the movie at all. Instead Sandman was supposed to team up with Vulture, who would be his cellmate that vowed revenge against Spidey after being busted by him. Vulture was supposed to be played by Ben Kingsley. Also, rather than being forced to break up by Harry, Peter and MJ would break up naturally after several bad decisions by both. However, studio executives forced Sam Raimi to bring in Venom, a character he was both unfamiliar with and uninterested in, because they thought the character would get more money from audiences. This interference lasted throughout the entire production, leading to several deleted scenes like Harry being talked out of his revenge by Mary Jane rather than his butler, Gwen being kidnapped since Eddie is convinced Peter loves her rather than MJ being kidnapped yet again, Sandman's daughter showing up and talking him out of the final fight, Eddie actually seeing Marko's situation with his daughter rather than knowing it out of nowhere, and others. This meddling is also the reason why a Spider-Man 4 was never made. Raimi and executives just could not agree on a script that would satisfy both parties, so Raimi left. -Kirsten Dunst only agreed to reprise her role in the 3rd film on the condition that Mary Jane would not end up as the Damsel in Distress. Executives agreed. MJ was originally going to have a more proactive role in the film's climax (Gwen was going to be the damsel while MJ would be the one to talk Harry into helping and forgiving Peter; her lines from this scene remained in the trailer). When the plans changed, they made sure MJ was an Action Survivor during this particular distress as means of making it up to an upset Dunst. Throwing a cinderblock at Venom was thrown in, they let her jump and swing on hanging webs herself before needing to ultimately get saved, and any of MJ's screams during the scene (Peter's too, for that matter) were recycled audio. On the audio commentary, Raimi tells a rough story of coming to the process that in order to finish the movie on time, they had to put MJ in danger, which not only angered himself for reneging on his promise to Dunst before production started that he wouldn't, but that summoning the courage to tell her was one of the hardest things he's ever done in his long time in the business.

No because Spider-Man four would have been just as convoluted because of mysterio being the villain and then we wouldn’t know about Brock really being venom or just insanity
You mean something like Predator? Brock in some godforsaken jungle stumbling over the meteorite venom came in down to Earth and being "taken over"? Hmmm... of course there are many options... they also could have just set that up for part 4 with Brock being just a photographic rival of Peters and ending up doing some drug cartel or rebel uprising story in "whatever jungle" soemwhere in the asscrack of Earth... and use the post credit scene for a new owner taking over Oscorp, making it the guy that would in the comics become the Vulture... showing him at the test facility where the original Green Goblin armor and flying batarang were developed ;-) Then have that be the next big baddy, maybe combine it with the Lizard when that guy is tasked to check the GG serum for some way to remove whatever turns the ones taking it insane / psychopaths and having an accident turning him scaly... and only bring tiny hints of Brock's jungle odyssey... getting caught by rebels or drug lords... being tortured or imprisoned for some time, the Planet having a story about star photographer vanished in crisis region... the baddies deposing a dying or badly beat up Brock in the jungles and then the symbiote scene... Post credit could then be Eddie with visible scars, but otherwise healthy looking, going onto a plane in South America or coming out of a plane at JFK... with a hint of venom showing in a cuff or out of his shirtneck.. blink and you miss it, so the stopmotion crowd has something to find too ;-)
Awesome Productions I think that could’ve been even worse, because Raimi didn’t want to do Venom and he didn’t know how to use him, so either way it would’ve been a problem. I think what Spider-Man 3 really needed was a story focused only on Harry, Peter and MJ. And if they wanted to add a second villain, they should’ve used someone like Connors since he had already been pretty well set up for it, just put Sandman’s arc on him and it would’ve worked. If they wanted to put Venom in a movie, it would have to be like an Agent Venom spin-off, with Flash Thompson coming back as a soldier and ending up on a wheelchair. Have the ship John Jameson from Spider-Man 2 came back with carry a symbiote, have NASA study it and the military end up using it to test on soldiers, which Flash volunteers for, and they end up using to hunt other villains.
they should have had an after credits scene. it would have gone like this: JJ jameson: brock, I told you not to be late. after parker quit, we're running low on decent photographers eddie brock: story sir, it's just.. we've had a busy weekend JJ: what do you mean we? eddie: oh, sorry. I- (pause) misspoke. (smiles) (screen goes black, we here a hissing sound)
I liked everything except of the part where Harry goes absolutely nuts kills MJ and dies. Kinda feels rushed. Also, the fact that Petar doesn't even think about Harry and simply doesn't show any emotion after his best friend died (even if he went kinda crazy) doesn't feel right. I think it's really sad we didn't get Spider Man 4! I adored the Sam Raimi (or Tobey Maguire) movies!!!!
I would love to see a Spiderman 4, just to see how more badshit insane Sam Raimi could do the franchise than it's already is. Maybe could Harry be resurected by an unknown villain, Maybe the french Bruce Campbell cameo from the third one as i heard that he was the true identity of Dr. Mysterio, sorry if i spell it wrong, if it wasn't because Spiderman 3 was so hated that Sam Raimi sadly never got a chance to direct a fourth movie. Then the new unknown villain brainwashed Harry with false memories and turned him into Hobgoblin.
I'm on board with all these changes except the death of MJ. MJ isnt Gwen Stacy, Gwen cant replace MJ, and I dont want Gwen introduced at MJs funeral. Also without the Venem suit stuff a lot of the plot designed to complement that theme doesn't really belong in the movie anymore like Peter being egotistical loving fame too much. If your focusing on Harry so much more, I dont think his death would be a hollow feeling as it was originally. I think without the ego checking subplot and your changes you get a new film that has a natural theme of love and hate being contrasted against each other. Both Peter and Harry and Sandman and MJ for that matter deal with both motivations of love and of resentment, hate or revenge. The cities changes attitude toward Spiderman after years of disrespecting him and JJ Jameson hanging onto that hate would play into that as well.

This makes me sad, I wish Sony would of just gave Raimi the creative freedom to make the movie he actually wanted to make instead of forcing him to add in a character he hasn't fully familiarized himself with and on top of the movie already having 2 villains. If venom is going to be the villain he needs to be the only villain in that story, unless you have carnage but even then that could be a sequel with Spider-man and venom teaming up
Even though I'm one of those out there who DOES defend "Spider-Man 3" just the way it is (and I will continue to do so to my grave), I actually found this VERY intriguing! Kudos to you, Walter! I even found Harry becoming the Hobgoblin and Gwen Stacy's death being applied to MJ (despite how *tragic* it is) nice touches.
@Chaloongis You think Insomniac Games will likely do the sadistic mile in killing off MJ in the Spidey PS4 sequel?? Because it almost feels like PS-verse is giving us already what Spider Man 3 should have been from day one even if not all of us will recieve it well
This Version of Spider-Man 3 would've been a Masterpiece. It made so much more sense to take Venom out and save him for later and have Harry and Flint to get screen time for their background stories. Peter losing both MJ, Harry, and the people he couldn't save in one night is the most impactful pain Peter will never get over. In the 4th installment of the movie that's when Peter gets the Black Suit and uses it to prevent another tragic event that happened in Spider-Man 3. Doing so, Peter will slowly become addicted to the Suit that feeds off Peter's immense pain and the Nightmares he's been having of his failure of saving MJ and those who died by the Hobgoblin, Consuming Peter with Dark thoughts and changing his attitude with agressive behaviors. That's when we get Venom in the picture.
We got spiderverse, spiderman ps4, and Sony and Disney was able to collab. With that we got spiderman in the MCU, what happened is in the past. Dont linger on the past, because the future is much brighter.
Harry Osborn was the Hobgoblin in the Ultimate Spider-Man comics. Also, here are my ideas that i hope you like: What If Michael Bay Never Directed the Transformers film series? What If Doomsday Wasn't In Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice? What If General Zod Wasn't In Man of Steel? What If Electro and the Rhino Wasn't Both In The Amazing Spider-Man 2? What If Zack Snyder Didn't Directing Man of Steel?
Sandman was *incredible* Venom was *fine* And The New Goblin was *trash* (I still like Harry Osborn) And they should make the Spider-Man 4 we could get to see Mysterio played by Bruce Campbell.
Well, that certainly feels like a satisfying conclusion to the trilogy but if the movie really ended like that, people on the Internet nowadays would keep on doing endless analyses and complaining about it saying that MJ didn't need to die - like Jack Dawson in Titanic.
This is good, but I have a problem with it... the movie is called Spider-Man. There's no Spider-Man in this until the very end. The previous two movies had 3 major fight scenes, plus some extras, this doesn't have that. Not only that, but if Harry knows Peter is innocent, would he side with Sandman because... he's jealous? That's not the motivation the previous two movies built up. Instead, I feel he would side with Sandman, to show Peter what it feels to have a friend side with the killer of your father figure, just like Peter was Spider-Man's "Friend". I mean, Harry knows Peter is the spider, but he didn't in the second film, so the analogy still applies.
julianx2rl Yeah, like he put Harry already knowing about his father in the beginning, that takes away all the stakes from the character buildup since the first movie. I think the butler should never tell Harry, I think he should end up discovering by some doctor or something that proves that Norman was impaled by the glider. Else, just have Harry do something terrible like hurt MJ really bad that ends up making him feel guilty and realize that revenge will only hurt innocent people he loves the most, which makes him forget about taking revenge against Peter. It would be cool if he had Peter hurt really bad and stuck, so his glider comes full auto mode with its blades out and he can’t turn it off, so he just puts himself in front of it to hold it back, which gets him impaled on a pillar while Peter gets really angry and manages to get himself free, and Harry just looks at Peter saying “sorry, buddy”, before the glider explodes and the Osborn building goes down.
If they had done this it would have made Peters internal conflict with what the symbiote does to him even more compelling. The fact Peter has lost person after person would’ve pushed him to give in to a chance at more power, so he wouldn’t have to lose anyone else.
Just saw the part 4 video and had to watch this first. I love this. The idea of Harry being the Hobgoblin so the design is different. And I love the idea of making this one actually focus on the friendship between Harry and Peter. Also the idea of Harry, and M.Js death being caused because Peter choose to go after Sandman is brilliant. Could have been a really awesome film!
honestly I think that you can have a symbiote suit spiderman story without immediately having venom in it as well, just have the symbiote getting away be a sequel hook to set up venom appearing in a potential fourth movie
The thing is, I think Sam Raimi almost pulled off this insane balancing act. Many people didn't like Topher Grace but I love what they were going for. This Eddie was a lying, cheating, womanizing jerk who was just too unintentionally dorky to pull it off. As Peter continued to be with the symbiote he was transforming into who Eddie was. They both liked photography and had a woman they cared for so they already had some things in common. We don't want Peter to keep the black suit because we already have an example to see who he's turning into. I felt A LOT of potential here and it almost worked! It just got overblown, making it feel way too cheesy. Oh and Sandman still shouldn't have actually killed Uncle Ben. Maybe he could've been the original killer's partner or something but that retcon was always so dumb.
Wow... Walter you have reignited my inner childhood of the Raimi trilogy. You've basically made the movie I've wanted to see for so long. Sometimes directors can make a really good story but you and the background people behind Channel Awesome really reconstructed Spider-Man 3 perfectly. That most likely would've topped Spider-Man 2 or perhaps keep the Raimi Saga going. What a great video guys, and especially to you Walter. We needed this. Keep up the awesome work. 😂 See what I did there? Lol, yeah I know bad joke.
I think this is one of the reasons why the Spider-Man 4 was canceled in the first place if Venom wasn't in Spider-Man 3 the movie could have gotten a better reaction from Sam Raimi and we could have gotten a fourth movie
The only thing I would really change about this re-imagining is to make Harry's death ambiguous. I personally love the way he died in 3, but always felt it was cheapened by the fact the movie wasn't focused on him. So in a future potential sequel within this hypothetical version of the Raimi series Harry would return and get the death he got in the original 3.
For a long time I heard that this was one of the best fanscription projects. I have been meaning to check it out despite the fact that Spider-man 3 as the original movie is still one of my favorite Marvel movies. I am not personally part of the group that doesn't like it but I do see its’ flaws. Putting that aside, the story you presented here is a mostly amazing story. It has a lot of great twists, a dramatic arc for arc for Harry, and I also like the concept of showing Spider-man lose control by will of his own anger and it not being just the black suit. Also I appreciate how your script leaves open territory for later Spider-man movies to explore. I do feel that I would do it a lot differently but I also appreciate how you point out that the Mary Jane from the movies is a weak character rewrite and to be truly honest in my own mind I have occasionally considered possible ways to remove her by the end of the third movie although for me, my first choice would be to have her move away and simply and show how Peter realizes that their bond wasn't as strong as he thought over time instead of killing her off but I respect your vision. Overall very good job! I can see why a lot of people enjoyed this episode. Very well done!
Walter, there are a lot of good ideas here. My favorite part you addressed would be Harry's arc and it actually felt like it captured his character from the comics/cartoons. Well done, sir.

If Gwen has the personality of the comic book Mary Jane, then the love interest thread is restored, giving Peter some renewed fight in the final climax against Venom. Add in the traditional wronged reporter backstory for Eddie Brock and a redeemed Sandman to help Peter and you've got a great Spider-Man 4 film.
and all of us would watch it on DVD or Bluray. though for me I'd also prefer VHS
Either that or 5.
@@misspriss2482 fair point. That could definatly work.

I was shocked first by the decision to kill off MJ, but the ending made it work. Good job... again!

I absolutely LOVE the callback to Peter's speech about his feelings for MJ from the first movie being thrown back at him by Harry.

Harry as hobgoblin could be good idea but it's kinda boring and doesn't work for me but i agree with you that movie would be same without venom
This... was... AMAZING! Honestly, if they did this, it would’ve elevated the Raimi trilogy in terms of superhero movies
That's some GOOD Peter Parker/Harry conflict re-narration!
Honestly I think this was all planned so they could make the MCU

Man, who needs movies? This narration is like an audio book! Well done!
They really should’ve just ended the film on a cliffhanger with Brock becoming Venom to set up a Spider-Man 4. Anyone else agree?
No because Spider-Man four would have been just as convoluted because of mysterio being the villain and then we wouldn’t know about Brock really being venom or just insanity
I think it would have been good for Venom to not show up in Spider-Man 4 but in a spin-off with Carnage.
Post credit could then be Eddie with visible scars, but otherwise healthy looking, going onto a plane in South America or coming out of a plane at JFK... with a hint of venom showing in a cuff or out of his shirtneck.. blink and you miss it, so the stopmotion crowd has something to find too ;-)
Awesome Productions
I think that could’ve been even worse, because Raimi didn’t want to do Venom and he didn’t know how to use him, so either way it would’ve been a problem.
Have the ship John Jameson from Spider-Man 2 came back with carry a symbiote, have NASA study it and the military end up using it to test on soldiers, which Flash volunteers for, and they end up using to hunt other villains.
they should have had an after credits scene. it would have gone like this:
JJ jameson: brock, I told you not to be late. after parker quit, we're running low on decent photographers
eddie brock: story sir, it's just.. we've had a busy weekend
JJ: what do you mean we?
eddie: oh, sorry. I- (pause) misspoke. (smiles)

I would love to see a Spiderman 4, just to see how more badshit insane Sam Raimi could do the franchise than it's already is.
Gwen isn't her replacement by far, Black Cat is.

Doing so, Peter will slowly become addicted to the Suit that feeds off Peter's immense pain and the Nightmares he's been having of his failure of saving MJ and those who died by the Hobgoblin, Consuming Peter with Dark thoughts and changing his attitude with agressive behaviors. now we need Walters "what would Spiderman 4 be like"
Well, that certainly feels like a satisfying conclusion to the trilogy but if the movie really ended like that, people on the Internet nowadays would keep on doing endless analyses and complaining about it saying that MJ didn't need to die - like Jack Dawson in Titanic.
Jack dawson was a production mistake... make the wood thing 20% smaller and not even Mythbusters could have saved both of them.
I mean, Harry knows Peter is the spider, but he didn't in the second film, so the analogy still applies.
julianx2rl
Yeah, like he put Harry already knowing about his father in the beginning, that takes away all the stakes from the character buildup since the first movie.
Back to formula!!!!! 😆😂😆😆😂 Lmao cracked me up
would have been the best of the trilogy just saying
I would have paid for this this would have led to Spider-Man 4
If you ask me keep the black suit and don’t introduce venom until Spider-Man 4 or5
Harry taking the pills reminds me of when Harry ODs in the comics
If they had done this it would have made Peters internal conflict with what the symbiote does to him even more compelling. The fact Peter has lost person after person would’ve pushed him to give in to a chance at more power, so he wouldn’t have to lose anyone else.
This is really awesome, you should do your own Spider-Man 4 script

Keep up the awesome work. 😂 See what I did there? Lol, yeah I know bad joke.
This was pretty well written. Thanks for this
And Sandman and new Goblin were more than enough in terms of villains.
Very solid ending, glad you all took the time not only write out a 'better' ending but also had voices for your rewrite. I really loved this video.
