May: Entering wolf territory | De Veluwe, the Netherlands

- One of my biggest dreams is to encounter a wolf in the wild. When my parents told me about their vacation plans, I couldn't believe they unknowingly rented a holiday cottage exactly at one of the few places in the Netherlands where wolves reside.
Of course I had to pay a visit. So in May, I packed my camera gear, headed off to a village called Otterlo and for two mornings in a row, I set my alarm at 4 in the morning, cycling around in mysterious misty landscapes.
The chances of spotting wolves are extremely rare. I met many wild animals, but no wolves. But just wandering around this beautiful area knowing wolves reside here was an amazing feeling.
When it came to the debate on the possibility of wild wolves returning to the Netherlands, I’ve always felt it was a matter of when, not if. And I'm so excited that after over 150 years of absence, they are finally back and here to stay.

So incredibly beautiful impressions, thank you so much ❤️ 🕊
Thank you ☺️ I've never been to this place and it was wonderful exploring it on such a beautiful morning!
Beautiful. 💜
Thank you Christine! Have a great weekend 🤗
@@annelaout You too! 🥰
Ah, Digitalis. One of my favorite flowering plants. Anne, did you go to film school?
Ha that is a great compliment, but no I didn't. Thank you! 🙏
Fantastic! My dream too. How lucky you are in the Netherlands and also Belgium, France, Germany, Denmark, Poland etc as the wolf recolonises its old haunts. Its not going to happen here in Scotland, sadly.
It's so thrilling to watch their return unfold! Over the years I've heard of some plans to reintroduce wolves in Scotland I believe. They belong there too and it would be beautiful to have them return there too. Perhaps one day!
@@annelaout indeed! What I really love is that the wolf has not been reintroduced in De veluwe etc. but have simply recolonised naturally!
@@folkq yes I think that is fantastic! 🤩
