Peter, I love listening to your review of the T205 Checklist! This time I especially enjoyed hearing about Charles "Chief" Bender, William Berger and Russell Blackburne! I drive by Dickinson College and Carlisle, PA every time I go to visit my daughter. Now, I will be thinking about Chief Bender! I knew about the Delaware River Mud being used to rub up MLB baseballs, but I did not know about the collection to Russell Blackburne. That is very cool! The story about Marty Bergen is certainly a tragic one and the connection to William Bransfield just goes to prove how interconnected baseball stories are! I cannot let the opportunity pass to tell you about the only T205 card currently in my collection - it's Joe Birmingham! I bought many years ago it to serve as my example of this set! Tobacco Card Tuesdays is always one of my go to videos! Keep up the good work!
Peter- These are some monster cards. What a collection. The Chief Bender card and story is awesome. T205 is on my shortlist to acquire. Cleveland should have stuck with Nap!
Gave a video like. Another great episode. Loved seeing the Bender. Neat hearing about Berger and wild hearing about his brother. Didn't know anything about Blackburne. Neat to hear about the connection with the mud and baseball. Cool Bransfield card as well. Have a great Friday, Peter!
Line # 10. I’ve heard of the Chief ( beautiful card). But didn’t realize he was from my home state of Minnesota until you mentioned Crow wing county- thanks. Bergen has the second worst WAR which is odd because I’d think that being the 5th best defensive catcher of all time would balance out his futility at the plate in terms of Wins above replacement- flawed stat. Beautiful examples and commentary! Thanks for sharing and Good Collecting 👍❤️
Thanks for another fun video Peter. I really enjoyed the Bergen & Blackburne bios the best. // I have a Bergen card already because I knew of his defensive prowess. However, I didn't know about his brother. // I still intend to get a Blackburne card one day. I remember that you made a previous video about Blackburne a while ago. He has kind of been on my radar ever since your video.
