- The year 2017 marks the bicentennial of the passing of General Thaddeus Kosciuszko, a hero of Poland and the United States. To commemorate this occasion a seminar was organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Poland at the Library of Congress on April 4, 2017. The event featured a panel of esteemed historians, Dr. James Pula, Purdue University; Dr. Graham Russell Gao Hodges, Colgate University; and Dr. Andrzej Sulima-Kaminski, Georgetown University; as well as remarks by Representatives Tim Murphy (PA-18) and Marcy Kaptur (OH-09) Co-Chairs of the House Poland Caucus.
I’m looking to have a mountain in New Hampshire named after Kosciuszko. There’s already a Mt Lafayette, Mt Lincoln, and a Mt Liberty all in line, so a Mt Kosciuszko would fit in perfectly. Thank you for this video.
Thank you All. Tadeusz Kościuszko a Hero of the Two Great Nations deserves to be recognisised like so. Only more often :)
As a Polish American I’ve always been aware of the importance of Kosciusko, but now I understand why!
I know I'm late here, but I would have given anything to have seen the slides they were showing. Thank you for this presentation, regardless of my petty complaint. Dzienkuje
Nothing is going to whitewash or wash away the fact that Jefferson owned slaves and he declined to freedom when Kosciusko requested he's unpaid money $17.000 will pay for slaves freedom plus 100 acres of land per person. Jefferson never did that because he wanted to keep slaves in a slavery. Kościuszko was probably The greatest man of polish descent in the USA
A Hero of Two Great Nations.
He left in his will all his monies to the education and purchasing of property for deserving Black people and for a trust, be set up for their future education of their children.
