Great breakdown and stories of each board. Have had a few Supers, a favorite was the Toy model 5’9” swallow tail. Which model did you prefer for east coast dumping top to bottom pitching takeoffs lol to get into the wave and make those drops?
Hey Brett, with these hurricane swells starting to pop up on the east coast, I'm sure you know all the right spots to be. I shoot surfing stills & video from the water, would love to document the right swell when things line up.
RED Tiger!! Get that order in!! I made an epoxy for myself. I put 6 oz and little bigger laps on the bottom, to stop the chatter if its windy. Works UNREAL!! Even in 4-6 foot HI. Im tripping. flashes of ol Culpen here and there. 😂❤🤙🏼
This is a FANTASTIC opportunity to give to your favorite charity, bro. Assume these boards were free to you? A really nice community event could ensue. God bless you mate...take care and look forward to future content. If you paid for these awesome sticks, please forgive me for the idea. 🙏
Although this appears to be a very large quiver, I remember once reading in the autobiography of a former multi-time world Champ, that he & his shaper would go through about 100 boards per year--because @ that very topmost level of surfing competition, even the tiniest tweak in design & shape could mean the difference in outcome...of course, this is a different scenario altogether...I'll just throw out a ballpark quess on the total sale price for these 27 used surfboards---$7.5K
Ya… I don’t compete on the world tour, so I’m not worried about dialing my equipment as much as them. The tiniest tweaks do matter, but when I was with SUPER I found dims that felt perfect. So I just kept re-ordering same boards. Always had 4-6 boards of the few models I trusted. Didn’t need more than that… would just rotate new ones as they got older or broken.
Yes I got them for free… but I also never got paid by SUPER. So for 10yrs I was given free equipment to do my job, and would make money on any boards I sold (didn’t break) when I’d get a new batch. The shop gets normal % of commission for selling them on consignment for me. Like any surf shop.
@@brettbarley makes sense. never understood how shapers can afford to give away so many boards. even at the cheapest possible construction they're still a couple hundred bucks each, including wages to employees/glass shop, not just materials. but the amount of boards they give at a time and all the time is pretty astounding.
Well I didn’t get em all free. I started out with 4 free ones a year, paid cost for the rest. Then a few years later it went to 8 boards a year, then 12, and the last couple years it was 16 a year. Anymore and I had to pay or trade in.

@@brettbarley interesting arrangement.between you and super that is.
It’s pretty typical for a board company to not pay someone…. Really only some of the top guys get paid by board companies.
