Glad it was helpful!
Amazing ❤

Thankyou for the info. What do you think about doing an attachment before giving the plab2 exam while preparing for it?
Some people go for that too, because you have to do both in 6month visa time. Will work for you if you can manage studying for plab2 while attending the attachment.
What is CATP AND BDS kindly explain in terms of clinical attachments
Hello, can I do a clinical attachment in the Northern Ireland, where they have HSC instead of NHS?
Heyy, thank you for the insightful video! For our visa we are required to provide dates for travel to the UK. If the chances to get a clinical attachment in the UK are higher with having a Visa; how did you know which dates to put in the Visa application before having the confirmation about the attachment.
I applied for a visitor visa for 10 years so I didn't have this problem.
For people with the visitor visa valid for 6 months, they usually plan their attachment around their plab2 dates.
Hi Doc! Just found your vid and thanks for the amazing tips! I will be starting a Clinical attachment in Obs&Gynae, the OH nurse told me it is strictly observing for now and my duties would depend on the person I would be working with! I was expecting to do a lot of things personally, bloods, patient consultations... I was wondering if you experienced the same thing and do consultants let you carry out general procedures?
Don't worry about it. You will definitely get to collect history, take bloods, order investigations. Just take the initiative and ask. You're helping them with their tasks, for FREE, why wouldn't they allow it? All the activities are supervised though ( atleast on paper😅).
I am sorry what do you mean by gen procedures?
All the best for your CA, let me know how it goes.
Hey! Its week 3 of my CA and its going great. The hospital doesn't have any vacancies sadly. I did apply elsewhere for F1 Gen Surg last week and included my CA under the employment part. I haven't yet heard back. I was wondering if you have experienced something similar after your CA? How many applications did it take for you to hear back from recruiters after your CA? Also any other recommendations to improve my applications? Thanks :) @@MumtazKeh
Hello Dr., thank you for such a good video! I am due to start a 4-week clinical attachment in A&E. I would really love to work at the same trust after my attachment, either in A&E or any other medicine department.
I just had a few questions if you wouldn't mind answering them?
1. Whom did you approach when asking about vacancies? Is it better to ask the consultants, go to HR or both?
2. Should I ask within the first week about vacancies?
3. How can I best prepare for my attachment? What shall I study beforehand?
4. Are there any other things you would advise to do to increase chances of securing a post?
P.S: I have completed my internship (FY1-equivalent) and have full GMC registration as well.
Thank you so much, looking forward to hearing from you ☺
To be honest, I didn't know all these things while doing my attachment and learnt it during the attachment. I did ask my consultant about the vacancy. And I didn't prepare myself for the attachment, but that would be a good idea. Just be there for them to notice you, and hopefully you'll have a job soon. All the best.
@@MumtazKeh Thank you so much for taking the time to reply, I really appreciate it! I shall take the advice you have given and make sure I do my best during the attachment ☺Best of luck in your journey within the NHS!
Hello Dr ill, Thanks for your videos, those are really helpful!
After clinical attachment, they don’t provide any certificates mentioning that we worked from this time to this time.
How to provide proof to GMC, IF GMC asks for that?
Thank you.
They do.
You have to mail the NHS Hospital to provide you a letter of reference. That's what GMC needs to verify your attachment.
@@MumtazKeh Thank you so much!
Hello Dr. Ill, I am kind of confused about producing immunization record for clinical attachment. I don't have my immunization card anymore and HR of the hospital is asking for immunization record, what should I do? What document can I produce?
If you're from India, you must be having a vaccination card (my mum had mine). So try asking your parents. If that doesn't work, you can always contact your pediatrician to see if they have the record of your immunisation, they can give you a copy of the same and that works.
Hello
That was really great video. I have one doubt, Can i mention in my mail that im interested in Medicine, Dermatology and Pediatrics department for clinical attachment or I need to mention just 1 department.
Which one has high chances to get the attachment mentioning of multiple departments or just single department??
Kindly reply.
And after my plab 2 exam can I start preparing for my mrcp 1 exam too or I need different route for that. Can u please explain about this route?
Thanks a lot
You can mention all the departments you're interested in. So they'll tell you about the vacancies accordingly. People usually get attachments in A&E and acute medicine as these are busy departments and require many doctors.
About the MRCP1, most people give it while applying for training jobs. It has nothing to do with plab as PLAB exams are for GMC registration. The path most people follow is: PLAB-> GMC registration ->Non-trainning job ->MSRA/MRCP-> Training job
Hey hai doc :)), I got through my PLAB 1 held in august, and now I’m attending online classes for PLAB 2 in common stations, I will be doing my PLAB 2 on march 15th, fortunately my uncle is a consultant anesthetist in Norwich trust so i dont think there will be any difficulty in getting a clinical attachment, so how many months prior should I submit all my documents and what are the documents required????
Hey, congratulations for passing PLAB 1 and all the best for PLAB 2. For most clinical attachments, just the police verification and vaccinations are required. You can always mail them and ask about their specific requirements.
Hello...I am planning to do an attachment and wanted to ask that when we email HRs and consultant what do we say about our visa status..like..do we first have to apply and write ots number or something in the email for propf or is it ok to just say that visa has been applied for and will be coming to uk around X number of particular dates??
There is no right or wrong here but I think there is no need to give so much information. Just tell them about your visa status, that should be more than enough.
hello, hope you are doing well, Thankyou for this informative video.
I had few questions if you could kindly answer,
what's the minimum or maximum duration for a clinical attachment?
can we do multiple till our 6 month visit visa lasts?
& if during any clincal attachment we do find a vacant slot for job and we are hired so will our visit visa will be switched to Work visa or do we have to go back to our home country and then come back, Pls guide.
Hey,
1) The duration for any clinical attachment is 2,4,8 weeks.
2) Of course, you can do an many attachments as you like.
3) No dear, we need to return to our home countries in order to apply for/ switch into a work visa.
I hope this answers your doubts.
All the best!
Thankyouuu so much. Stay Blessed 💐
Is it possible to get a clinical attachment after PLAB 1 before giving PLAB 2? I wasn't able to book a PLAB 2 seat in near months so was hoping to do clinical attachment before giving PLAB 2
Yeah, some of my friends managed to do a clinical attachment before PLAB 2. So it's possible.
Also, try to do Audits if possible.
What are audits and how to apply them???
Does giving an MRCP 1 exam add to our CV which finally applying for jobs, or its not really that significant?
It definitely adds to the CV.
Hi, what exactly is a verification certificate and who’d issue it to us ?
It's the police verification certificate I'm talking about. It's issued by the local police station (stamped by the passport office in India) which shows that there are no criminal charges against you in your home country.
Ma’am Can you suggest some academics for plab 2 exam ?
Swami, Aspire, Samson, Mo sobhy...theyre pretty much the same.
I'm making a video about it. Stay tuned.
Hello
I had my plab 1 on Aug 10th.
Result is not announced yet, can I apply for clinical attachment/observership now?
You can always mail the hospitals and ask. The most important document is a visa, if you have that you can always try in different hospitals for a clinical attachment.
What is the usual working time and do we get off in the weekends
It's usually 8 hours/day. If you do a long day (12hours), then there's a day-off... 2 days off for the night shifts.
So it goes like you'll be working for 1of the weekends in a month, but you get paid extra for the weekends.
Can we get it during mrcog exam giving journey to take exp regarding clinical
You should be able to. All you need is a visa and you're sorted. Good luck!
Hi Dr ill, thanks for sharing.
Did your first clinical attachment need to be paid to secure a placement?
I got an offer but have to pay around 300 pounds for 4-week time.
Thanks in advance for your answer.
How can I find clinical attachment?? Can you please guide ۔
Go to the NHS hospital's website ( the ones you're interested in), you'll get mail addresses of the consultants and HRs. Mail them on the same and wait for their reply. They usually reply within a week.
That one is a paid attachment. You can go for it if you don't get other attachment offers.
However, most of the clinical attachments are unpaid, where you just have to pay 150pounds for the occupational health appointment.
Can I include in my mail that I'm good at suturing, POP plastering etc
No game in doing that. Add it in your CV that you’ll attach in the mail. Mails are supposed to be concise.
I need help. I got positive reply from 5 departments
Ortho
Obgyn
Neurology
Endocrine surgery
Haematology
Keeping in mjnd i want to do surgery jn future can u help me which department should i prefer.
Ofc ull say ortho n trauma but the hospital who offered ortho n trauma is far from where i have secured accomodation. I am kinda confused need help
Hi, congratulations!
it’s always a good idea to start with dynamic departments where you have lots to learn, T&O in your case. Another good option for you is endo surgery and it’ll help to build your CV in surgery. About the Accomodation, people shift all the time, try talking to the house owner, explain your situation and see if he can return the deposit. All the best!
Hey congratulations for getting positive replies, Can you help which trusts are offering the attachments or emails of consultants who have responded after you decide to go for one ? ive been trying since months and unfortunately no response so far :( a lil help would mean a lot.
Do i need a police verification certificate which is issued by local police station or police clearance certificate issued by passport kendra seva
It’s ultimately issued/signed by the PSK but your local police station can do the verification for them.
What is the appropriate length of the clinical attachment?
1 month or more ?
4weeks (1month): this length is more than enough
What do you mean by FY1 competency signed off?
Its the NHS equivalent of internship completion
Hello....if one does not have a uk visitor visa....then what to do....as the uk immigration will require a reason for visit to uk but on the other hand the hospital will not be givimg any documentary proof for attachment to show the uk immigration dept. for visit visa application.
The hospital gives a letter of joining for the attachment. That can be used as a reason for visitor visa. They won't sponsor your visa though.
Thank you for your reply. Actually almost all the hospitals require a valid uk visa along with other documents prior to processing the application, so if I dont have any valid visa, how can I provide this to them as the hospitals require a valid visa before applying for the attachment and they wont process the application if there is no valid visa. On the other hand, the UKVI requires a written conformation from the hispital for the attachment when applying for a visit visa. I am a bit confused regarding this.
If you could share any hospitals that provide a written confirmation for clinical attachment without requiring a valid uk visa as a prerequisite. Thankyou
Hello di! You mentioned you got your fy1 competecy signed. What i understood is something related to our Internship from Indian Mbbs course. What exactly did that mean and how to get it done?
Your ICC (Internship Completion Certificate) is accepted as a proof of FY 1 competencies. You don't have to do anything extra regarding that.
I hope that clears your doubts.
yes it did... thankyou :)
Hi Doctor,
I’m in uk in spouse visa. If i do my clinical attachment after plab1 , do you think it will be beneficial? Or should i wait until appearing in plab 2
Please do help
Hey, doing an attachment always adds to the CV. You doing it before or after Plab 2 doesn’t make any major difference. The slight issue being that you’ll have to chase people from the hospital via mail regarding jobs when you get registered.
hello dr.. im a first year medical student in egypt and im from malaysia. can i do a clinical attachemnt for right now in egypt ? is it not too early?
and i already have visa
The right time to do an attachment would be near PLAB 2exam/ GMC registeration as it helps with the job and recommendation. But if you have free time and a UK Visa, I'd say go for it as it doesn't cost much.
so i should i apply for visa 1st right?
then search for clinical attechment
Visa for Plab 2 right?
If you want a visa just for clinical attachment then you’ll need a letter from the hospital to apply for the visa.
Hi doctor, is it possible to apply for clinical attachment before doing PLAB 2 in advance
Yes
Yes, just tell them your PLAB 2 date so they know that you're working towards getting GMC registration.
Hi, thanks for the info. My wife is having 5 years of exp in India. she is going to attend plab 2 now. In her case, clinical attachment is needed? could you please share your opinion? thank you.
Clinical attachment always adds to the CV, It's not a mandatory thing to do. If your wife gets a chance, she must go for it- not just for CV, but also to get oriented to the NHS System.
Thanks for your kind reply Doc.
@@vjeparis I hope it was helpful.
Where r u doing your clinical attachment cz no one is replying
While making this video, I was doing a clinical attachment in Leicester (UHL-NHS Trust).
Whom to consult for consultation?
Consultant 🤭
after doing clinical attachment do we get a certificate or should we ask for it
You should get one by the end of the attachment. I wanted a letter of reference from a particular consultant I worked under, so approached him a week before the end of my attachment.
Always better to remind them, they like that over here.
Plab 2 clear krne k baad pg nhi hoti kya uk m????
Nahi. Uske liye training positions k liye separately apply karna padta hai.
@@MumtazKeh training positions mtlb???
Mrcp dena padega na shayad uske liye tho ?? 🙂
Do they ask for vaccination status results?
Yes, they ask for a vaccination certificate once you're selected. NHS also orders blood tests to check your immunity against Hep B and HIV in the occupational health checkups prior to joining the attachment.
@@MumtazKehdo I need to get these tests done here in India before leaving if I do not have any vaccination record?
do you need your medical degree for clinical attachmemt?
You don’t.
Which IELTS exam for plab ?
I took the OET
@@MumtazKeh Thanks
Do u have clinical attachment in ur hospital ...got gmc struggling for job for last 3 yrs
Try mailing the consultants/ HRs, only they can offer and accept attachments.
There will be a lot of vacancies for August 2023. You'll get a job soon, IA
@@MumtazKeh do u suggest me to visit hospitals personallu and apply ?? Dobu know anyone who can comment on my cv???...havent done mrcs/ p yet do i still have chance to get a job??...can i have ur email id ??
Can we do CA in GP?
We can. I did a 2week CA in GP.
Mam I am fmg currently doin my internship in india..I need guidance abt plab..I need personal contact/email id of urs it would be a great help
You can contact our team via mail.
Sorry ,I can't understand you, your accent is bad, why do clinical attachment, I remember long time ago you just do plab ,pass the exam and apply for the jobs
You’re absolutely right, GMC registration makes us eligible to apply for jobs. But the goal is to get that job right and that’s where attachment/ audit/ research gives you an edge over other candidates in getting the interview and then the job.
And about the accent, appreciate the honest review. This Indian girl from Chhattisgarh is working on it. 😅
