Amazing video man. This is the most in depth video I’ve seen for this problem and it is going to be a ton of help. Seeing how easy it can be has taken a lot of stress off of this job thank you man!!
Great Advice on everything, very detailed, I'm having a P0203 issue on my car currently. I've already replaced all six spark plugs and the coil pack on cylinder 3 and it didn't fix the issue, the car is still running very roughly and reporting a misfire on cylinder 3, i'm sure that it's reporting a misfire because the car is in failsafe mode since that injector is probably not working. I'll go through your diagnostic steps, but unfortunately I have to remove my intake AGAIN just to access that plug. I don't have all the tiny wire probes that you do to check the wiring from the PCM up to the injector plug, but alas I think it's just going to be a fruitless attempt if I did and the injector is just bad. I have a 2008 Chrysler Sebring with 220000 miles on it so it's unlikely that its just a bad or dirty wire. Thanks again.
So did you fix your problem? I'm facing a P0203 injector issue on cylinder 3 along with misfires and my car goes into limp mode within seconds of driving.
Very well Explained. I have a P0201 code on my 2007 Nissan Qashqai, 1.5dci .Checked with NOID light , no signal from ECM. But will check the Injector itself anyway.
Wow that was a great video very articulate very informative to the point without other none worthy information great video great explanation a lot of people should take note and lessons from this man.
Great advice mate, including protecting the engine from dirt entry. Would have loved to see an oscilloscope connected comparing current ramps. I once had a VZ that was fine on all, except missing the 'hump' on the current ramp on one injector - sticky injector, it wasn't mechanically opening. Well done on your video - very informative!
For some jobs it's impossible to over look the scope 😉 It's always rewarding for me to be able to teach and share with what I believe to be very basic tools. Everyone who is working on cars needs a multimeter and you can use many different things to back probe and check circuits. Understanding a system following a wiring diagram then breaking it down to it's most simplistic form. I absolutely love it, I have diagnosed 3 injector failures in different models the last 6 weeks and I love to share that knowledge onto people that may not be able to get the info from around them 👌💪 Thanks for watching mate, hope you had a great weekend 🙏
@@GerardBurkeBurkesGarage Cheers Mate. I totally agree. I would have done exactly the same - starting with the basic tools that everyone should have. But.......I couldn't help but bring out my Pico for a road test. Good for other tradies as well. You are right. If anyone intends doing repairs, they should become familiar with wiring diagrams & how systems actually worth, rather than focusing on a tool that just tells you what the fault is (in theory).
Great stuff thanks Gerad, and makes a big difference to have a manual for the vehicle......Haynes don't do a paper one for mine, and I queried their latest digital manuals and got a reply saying they can only include what data the manufacturer provides....so bad luck...it won't be any use to fix the fault ( heated rear windscreen on my daughters car...long story) so I won't blind buy one for mine. I've never had an injection system fault before, so good to see it looks simple enough; permanent 12v feed to injectors and presumably the ECU provides timed pulsed grounds to fire the injectors. Not so on my car....P0202 and 0204 stored faults stored with all injectors measuring approx 4k ohm, and no 12v present at any injectors. No flash when I try substituting an LED ( I don't have one of those indicator lamps you show). I'm wondering if it's a high voltage peizeo electric system, perhaps. I was going to try my very old spark plug neon, but couldn't find it. And like yours, very intermittent, so can't hope to find an intermittent fault when it's not active. Anyway; on your video, you show the wiring diagram; fuse feeding a common continuous 12v to injector supply side. Fair enough. And at 4.45 you say number 2 is low at 3.5v, when running. But at 5.50 you measure across the suspect number two injector to find open circuit. Hmm, so whats dropping the 12v down to 3.5v across an open circuit? Got to be an internal short to ground partway along on the injector coil when at running temp hasn't it? Oh and at 6.16 your'e saying injectors aren't expensive. Wow, please, please tell me where you're getting them, cos they're £200+ each, and that's exchange items wherever I've looked for my car. All the best, Allan.
Man I wish I could bring you my car, I have this fault as well even though the injector was already replaced. But with your method I'm sure it would be fixed! Top job
Same as my issue:( No one knows what’s going wrong with my TDi 1.6 golf 2012 with 84k mileage Already replaced 4 injectors but the fault is still here.. Who should done this job for me ?! Electric man or Mechanic man ?! Any advice please :(
My vehicle (2008 Ford Edge) is having the exact same issue. I was leaning towards a faulty coil but after watching the video I'm now leaning towards the injector. Unfortunately my problem is the same # 2 cylinder so I'll have to remove the intake plenum to get to the injector for testing...
I've been a mechanic for 56 years I always look for videos to help me with certain jobs diagnosing 06 Cadillac CTS injector code number two cylinder. Seems like the battery is different in this video in the car so I don't know if you change the battery during the video or you're working on different cars the one I'm working on has the injection harness right at the front of the manifold on the passenger side so without pulling manifold you can measure injector resistance from the split plug right there. If the measurement was bad there then I would pull the manifold. Somebody already replaced injector before I got to this job. So I back probe the power wire and the ground signal at the harness with the engine running and the scan tool showed injection pulse-width at zero and I had no voltage pulse at all on that injector so I know by disconnecting the harness right there and seeing no voltage between the ground signal and the power signal that it has to be coming from the computer or wiring and on this car it only happens for about 3 minutes in the morning and then it goes away so it had to be tested with the engine cold. Ultimately trace it back to the injection driver module inside the computer. Like you say flow tests are different and you can check resistances without pulling the manifold all the way back to the computer if you want just a little help for anybody struggling with this one seems like a lot of people online can't figure out the problem

I am not getting battery voltage on Injector 6 and it seems as if I am getting intermittent battery voltage on injector 4 but Injector I am getting battery voltage from Injector 2 coming from the ECU on my 2004 Infiniti G35. Could it be possible that my #4 and #6 circuit on the ECU is compromised?
great video, what would you do for a ve commodore that has an intermitant missfirre on cylinder 6. All ignition coils and injectors have been replaced. Car runs perfect then it will just start imiss firing. Turn it off for a small amount of time and normaly it will go away.
I just experienced this. Rough idle after coming to a stop after driving 6 miles. I let it rest for a couple of hour's and restarted it. No problem, but my check engine light is on. So I drove it back home and is fine now but I put my OBD2 on and it shows #3 cylinder open circuit. I cleared the code. Seems to be running fine at a idle with acceleration. I did notice my fuel consumption is really bad. 53 miles and almost a half a tank. I did do a recent oil change and may have put a quart too much? Would this foul the injectors?? And what should I do next? I guess drive again for a bit and see if it fixed itself? What do you think?😅 UPDATE: I replaced all 6 injectors and put a heat shield kit on. Drove a few miles, jumped on the fwy about a mile, parked, turned off about 15 minutes, restarted, drove home, turned off, started a few times, no problems. Time will tell. FYI: ALL THE INJECTORS WERE ORIGINAL, 23 YEAR'S OLD!
