You do such a fantastic job of sharing information. I learn so much and can't wait for your next videos! Thank you for making this time of year so special!
Great tips. I would love to see a video on how you keep your pruning shears “super duper sharp.” Also how you hang the amaryllis upside down. You surely have beautiful Amaryllis flowers and vases. This is a great go to (go back to) video. Thanks for sharing.
I've seen vases of Amarylis once before and thought it was the most lavish and decadent idea. I tried to imagine the cost of purchasing it and never thought of growing them. It's so nice that you enjoy these flowers so much that you grow them in such abundance to allow yourself bouquets of the flower. Merry Christmas!
Thank you for sharing all of those amaryllis care tips! I always learn so much from you Danielle! I’m motivated to go out shopping today and see if I can find some unique different varieties of amaryllis bulbs. I always get the usual red “Minerva” variety, but those cream and pink varieties are stunning too.👍😍
I have tried Amaryllis with mixed results in the past (usually the color I bought is not the color it turned out to be). You have given me a new appreciation for them and the confidence to try them again with this incredibly informative video. I prefer the ones that lean toward pink rather than red and love that you showed several of those. 💗💖
Hi K! The bulb will continue to thrive after you cut the flower stalk. Just be sure and leave all the leaves. Depending on the size of the bulb you may get up to four stems from one bulb. After flowering the leaves can be treated as a houseplant and the bulb can be forced to bloom again in subsequent years.
Hi Carolyn! I leave all of the leaves on the bulb. Bigger bulbs will send up multiple stems. After flowering you can treat the bulb (leaves) as a houseplant and force it to bloom again in subsequent years.
I grew my first amaryllis last year after seeing your video. I loved them. Now I am waiting for them to bloom again! Where do you get those tall light coloured ceramic pots? Is there a name for those and what size do you have? Thanks!
I’m in Zone 9B so mine grows outside and blooms in the summer. I’ve cut them the last two summer and both times they did not last very long. 4 days tops. I love it that they last for you.
Hi please tell me you said in another video you said to take of brown paper material when you’re potting. I got two large bulb potted the, grew them outside in pots, I just repotted the bulbs it’s just they had so many baby’s at least 10 on the bulb, I took them off and potted them up. Do you know why they put out so many babies?
very cool videos. which ones do you think have the best scents amongst the amaryllis? i am trying to decide between amaryllis and stargazer...which one to buy, grow and eventually propagate so i can have lots of colorful flowers. we have now lots of these plants here in the Philippines to choose from. really appreciate that i saw a couple of your videos. will be watching more. 🙂
You are such a joy to watch. The happiness that you exude is wonderful. Thank you for all the information that you provide about gardening and beautiful flowers.
I'd like to add more tips. Leave the stem as long as possible because it stores nutrients for the flower to bloom. Don't use plain water! Add floral perservatives to the water otherwise the buds tend to fall due to lack of nutrients. I also suggest double the dosage as the package indicates because indicated dosage is not enough the buds can still die before they open.
I bought two waterless amaryllis, the bolb sits on sand and on a sunny area. What do you think of this, have you ever seen it, l'm a bit nervous in case of loosing this beautiful flower, they were expensive. Please advise. Thank you. Your amaryllis are beautiful. 💕 💮🌺🌸
Hi Angela! Are they waxed? I think it's a great temporary display. If you want to keep the bulb for subsequent years the wax should be removed and the bulb should be planted in potting soil.
@@NorthlawnFlowerFarm, No, they have no wax around the bolb, this is what concerns me the most. I was thinking of returning both of them to the store. Walmart. Looking forward to hear from you. Thank you. 🌺
@@NorthlawnFlowerFarm Thank you so much for your reply. I returned those two, l wasn't too impressed. Again I'v come across with the no water required amaryllis from Lowe's so we'll see what happens. 😊 Will let you know. Thanks 🌺
Just to be clear, if you cut an amaryllis flower stem ALL of the buds will develop and open, even the small immature ones as long as the outer sheath of the cluster has broken? Thanks for the info, would not have thought to cut my amaryllis, love your content.
Yes. That is how you would sell them to a florist and how they arrive from a wholesaler. Sometimes the buds are more puffy but they are always picked like this for transportation.
Hi there! Yes you certainly can cut paperwhites! They don't last as long as amaryllis but are still great cuts. Paperwhites usually give me 5 good days. Amaryllis picked early will often last two weeks!
Thanks Danielle. I wasn't aware that amaryllis could be a cut flower. 👏👏 Beautifully presented. What is the length of time amaryllis will keep in bloom?
Danielle do you use flower food and how often should I change the water? I have several bulbs started and three almost ready to plant from last year. Thank you for the great information and inspiration all year long.
Hi Jacqueline! It's a good idea to use flower food and change the water every few days. I usually will give a fresh cut when changing the water also. My apologies for not mentioning that!
I bought six amaryllis from Netherlands. They came several weeks ago. I potted the bulbs in soil and have been watching your videos frequently and am really enjoying your works and this process. Thanks for sharing your passion with us.
Thank you! I am starting to fall in love with this flower. My first impression was at CVS when I was just going in to pick up some cold med for my children. All kids' cold meds were sold out, and as on my way out, I saw this flower blooming gorgeously so I couldn't help it and bought it! And now I have 2 bulbs, planning to buy more because it's easy to grow.
I had no idea you could use them as cut flowers without affecting bloom time. I skipped having them this year because the varieties I have are very tall and requires so much staking. I will be growing these again next year for sure. Thanks for sharing.
So many helpful ideas. Thank you. Always wondered about them as cut flowers vs. Keeping on plant. Last year I accidentally broke a flower off stem. I put it in a small glass of water and kept it on my bathroom counter. It stayed beautiful for days and gave me a smile every time I went into the room. Maybe i will be brave enough to cut them on purpose as vase flowers this year.
Thanks, always good tips. I remember this summer you took the blooms off of gladiolis and put in water tubes and made arrangements that way. Would that also work with Amaryllis? I know the blooms are large but just wondered if that could be another way to display the flowers.
Great job! Very informative! Last year I had a Sweet Nymth that had both flower stalks open at once and the second stalk was just a little shorter than the first stalk. Boy was it gorgeous in bloom!
This was really great, It's never crossed my mind to cut them for the vase, even when they reach for the ceiling. Did you order these or find them at a garden center.? I've never seen some of the ones your growing for sale around where I live.
The amaryllis I ordered after watching your last video arrived last week and I've planted them. It's been so exciting watching the buds grow from something that looks like an onion!
I'm so jealous of those beautiful pink amaryllis!

Definitely need to cut some of my super tall ones. Thanks for the ideas on how to manage the tall ones. Love your videos.
Great info again. Merry Christmas to a beautiful lady who shares so much knowledge. You are appreciated.
Thank You Danielle for all the wonderful advice 💕
So clear and inspiring. Beautifully edited, too.
So much great inspiration! And oh my how beautiful are those amaryllises!
Thank you again for another wonderfully informative video! I keep referring my commenters to you for answers in all things amaryllis!
Thank you so much! I loved seeing your lamb's ear ornaments!

Such a great teacher! Thank you 🌲❤
Now I want to go get some
Okay I need an amaryllis chandelier now. I was afraid to cut them but you said they last just as long in water yay
Excellent information!
That was an awesome video. Thank you so much. Absolutely beautiful 🌸
Happy almost Amaryllis Christmas to you as well♥️
I've never seen the white ones. Love those!
I HAVE HEARD TO HANG THEM UPSIDE DOWN THEM IF YOU WANT TO CUT
I have become a fun of this plant. Thank you
Thanks for another video full of useful tips about the amaryllis!
Amaryllis obsessed over here! Thanks for the tips. We may just need to go buy more again for cutting. They really are gorgeous flowers

Nice shearing 👍🥰
Fabulous pinks!
Have you ever mentioned where you order your amaryllis bulbs from? There are a few varieties here I haven’t seen before and they are so pretty! 😍
Hi Katherine! I get my bulbs from Longfield gardens.
Maybe I missed it but what happens to the bulb if you cut the stalk and flower off? Is the bulb finished or will it regrow?
My first Amaryllis just opened up this week!! The blooms are gorgeous! I have 7 bulbs more growing to bloom.
Do you remove all of the leaves from the potted plant?
Hi Carolyn! I leave all of the leaves on the bulb. Bigger bulbs will send up multiple stems. After flowering you can treat the bulb (leaves) as a houseplant and force it to bloom again in subsequent years.
Super beautiful amaryllis 👏👏Love them too so much!

I loved watching and learning more about how to display these lovely flowers. The peppermint colored amaryllis is my favorite. So beautiful.

Next year I will grow amaryllis. You convinced me.

How much do Amaryllis cut flowers cost per stalk?

Very interesting, I also have had amaryliss for yrs ,always enjoy to learn more about them, never used them as cut flower, love the idea 💡
No wonder you love them so much, absolutely beautiful!
👍👍👍👍👍
One of my amarillys to be specific the red one stalk vent to the point I thought it was going to break 🙁 why did this happened?
such great information and beautiful flowers
Do you have any issue with fungus gnats with amarillyis? I find they are my worst for them.
Can I save an amaryllis that split about 3in but about halfway up this stem? Or is it a goner.
What cool tips! Many thanks for doing this video.
Do you have a favorite nursery for getting your extra large bulbs?
I've been so happy with Longfield gardens. The have an awesome selection and fabulous quality.
Thanks so very much!
