    Great video, thanks for sharing. We met at the heliextravaganza not too long ago and you helped me out with my 200SRX. I replaced the servo and got the heli flying great now. Just for kicks I bought a Blade Zeyrok as well. Both these Blade products are a lot of fun to fly. Keep the videos coming.

    Hey, quick question. Has the reliability of the tail motor gotten better? I used to own a Blade CP(original version) and I couldn't fly it anymore, due to a combination of the tail motor and 4-in-1 receiver losing it's mind. Couldn't afford to upgrade so I gave up on the micro-helis. I really want to get a good micro to 250 heli, but can't afford the T-rex range. I also have a mental complex when it comes to the tail motor. lol Is there a good pirced belt-driven heli out there? Thanks!

  • @Allnonym0u5

    How did you become so good with that toy? Flying it like that upside down too. Great skills. If you don't mind me asking.
    I don't think that is easy as the RC car toys when, one just pushes forward and backward with the left stick control. Left or right with the right stick control. Then you have a car going forward and backward left and right.
    Easy as. Doesn't drop from the air in flight.
    How long did it take you to be so good at controlling that thing?

    Hi, just done 2 steady break in flights on mine, i did have some trouble with the deviated swash at first but then messed around with settings on my new dx6, some how it now stops level once i centre it with cyclic, but not sure if radio set up correctly, in stabilit mode it will hover sready and level but the swash does not return to level on its own, i have to level it back up, so not sure if thats correct, also how to test panic button, dont want to risk it in air, can it be tested on ground ?

  • @freedom281

    How long time have you been flying, and do you also fly bigger Choppers??? You seem very precise in your movements, and you have good control, it shows clearly, compared to me anyway. I find mine hard to fly even in Beginner, because I feel it's fighting me. Not wanna be still and I must work direction all time, forward(then too much) then too much backwards, and suddenly I'm in a situation where I loose more and more control, so I train my hover, tail to front and front to me, and keep it controlled the same place is extremely hard. But I did buy Phoenix Sim, and I'm very sure this help, and already have...
    To fly a 500 and fly inverted I strangely find very easy, but the Blade 230 S hard.... Is this normal, and how much time will go like this hoover mode til I can advance? Is there a average timeline?
    Thank you for a good video, but you make it look so easy, mine drift...

      +Free dom Hello! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Yes, I fly all of the Blade helis. I have been flying between 6 and 7 years now. It does take a lot of practice and a lot of patience. Stick with it! The sim will help A LOT. Everyone progresses at their own speed. I've seen some kids go from beginner to hard 3d in less than a year. My progress was much slower. It took me closer to 2 years to start "sport" flying. I think on my 4th year things really clicked and I started putting moves together and having a lot more fun with the hobby.

    • @freedom281
      @freedom281 8 років тому

      +highadvantage Very impressive and thanks a bunch for taking the time to answer me :) I shall do my best and a lot of sim time for sure. That's free crash and there I already easy fly all over 500 inverted and are good with orientation but crash when try to try gain control many times, but it will be okay I'm sure. have fun

    I want one but it is louder than my t rex 600! But seems to be a great trainer. Better than micros and a gateway to larger and more stable helis. I hate 450 but have 3 500 class. The 500 is stable and quiet.

  • @jimmyd4092
    @jimmyd4092 8 років тому

    Do you own one or is that just for demonstration ? You are such a excellent pilot I was just wondering why you bought one. I'm not being sarcastic. I was thinking is this a good trainer for people who can do a little 3d cause it would be cheaper to fix , I use a 300cfx for training right now when I feel comfortable with a maneuver I try it on my 550x or 500x. What do you think.

    • @highadvantage
      @highadvantage  8 років тому

      Hey Jimmy! I do own this. I am a team pilot for Horizon Hobby. I own all of the models so I can display and demonstrate their performance at events. this is a great trainer for beginning sport flying. You are correct about gaining confidence on smaller helis and then transitioning your moves to the bigger models. Happy flying! !

      This what I went up to after my 120sr, in stability mode it is just as easy to fly the as the sr, but watch out its much quicker. the battery lasts 10 to 12 minutes but it depends how you fly it. I would recommend going to a club before you try it in 3d mode. I hope this helped.

    I like the size! I am tired of those damn micro sized helicopters. I have an Align 450 brand new, loaded with metal parts but not ready to fly it yet. I wanted something like this to learn on first. I can fly the WLToys 913 wich is a very beginner, I call it my bus. Is the tail brushed? I hope not. If so, they had better offer a brushless. I KNOW I can fly the 230! Love that it offers beginner, intermediate, advanced learning modes. You fly like a pro. I think you are just reviewing. Want to buy an Align 450? Just kidding. I traded a Balsa 300 Extra for it. I crashed it and rebuilt it. The guy liked my rebuild so much, he plans on displaying it so I must have done a good job.

  • @Helinut618

    thanks for your advice and while I've got an expert on the line..... I just purchased a trex 700e running 2 satilites no reciever and upgraded from dx6i to the brand new dx7. I can't find anything on transmitter setup. can you point me in the right direction? this thing probably will never do anything more than hover. ... it's to nice a heli and big $$$$.

    • @highadvantage
      @highadvantage  8 років тому

      what flight controller? vbar, beastx....? basically you will have to start with a blank heli model in your dx7 and work with the servo reversing until you get the servos moving in the right direction. you may need some hands on help from an experienced pilot for that one.

      +highadvantage thanks! I'm taking a little bigger leap than I should perhaps. I have flown the indoor ones and got pretty good at them and have bought a couple collective pitch ones that were bigger that I never got off the ground. I am hoping this one will be able to right out of the box. I don't think my set up was right on the 450 I got... it had no lift and I was too inpatient to mess with it and figure out the problem. Hopefully this one works better for me... someone lazy who THINKS he can fly. At this point I don't have any thoughts of going upside down with it I just want to fly like a real life helicopter would. for $300 I figured I would give it another go!

    • @Trucker1970

      +highadvantage ok... so I got it an hour ago and within 10 minutes I broke it hahaha BUTTTT I got it off the damn ground (warehouse floor) and had a couple short flights so I feel like with practice I can actually fly this thing!!! I lost one of the metal balls and that's not in the package of spare parts just the plastic things that hook to the metal ball... so off to the hobby store I go lol I will be really excited if I ever get even close to being as good as you are with it. It truly is RTF and without checking anything I got it off the ground! So cool!!

      +highadvantage update ** I bought a second 230S and will use the first one for parts LMAO this is harder than it looks!! (that's all your fault for posting this kick ass video) hahaha So far I demolished the tail boom replaced it and within minutes had a mishap and a slight ding in the new one. I've replaced both blade grips after snapping them. Busted up my canopy. Broke my landing gear but got it fixed up pretty good with my hot glue gun. It really seems to be pretty tough though honestly. No complaints here. I don't dare buy any aluminum parts it's probably better that the plastic breaks saving other things from breaking that may be more difficult or more expensive to replace. Having fun trying to learn though to fly though!

    I had one , flew it too high, lost signal and was unable to recover it. Darn thing was never seen again. Glad it didn’t hit a car or innocent pedestrian.

    I got one for my birthday but can't seem to get it off the ground. I use a Dx6i. The more throttle I give it, the more it seems to push down towards the ground. But if I change the mode while trying to take off, it immediately lifts off. The problem is, I'm not experienced enough to fly it right now in any other mode than stability mode. The other thing is that I only have the use of one hand so it makes it a little more challenging. Any idea what could be causing it not to lift off?

      +Bob Scopelleti Sounds like the collective channel is reversed on your radio or your pitch settings off mechanically or in the radio. Ask your hobby shop for some help or help finding a local heli club. There's likely to be guys that would love to help you get set up and going.

    • @MrBigTexFyre
      @MrBigTexFyre 8 років тому

      +Bob Scopelleti Go to page 6 of the manual for your helicopter. It has all the setting for your DX6i. I know as a beginner it looks like a daunting task, but it's not as hard as it looks once you start to understand how a collective pitch heli works.
      Make sure to put your transmitter settings exactly as the manual suggests. You can start tinkering around with the settings once you learn to fly better.
      Good luck.

      also check the polarity of your motor if it's reversed the blades will be spinning the opposite direction. I had this issue with my 300 cfx out-of-the-box. Once I switch the polarity she jumped right into the air

    • @highadvantage
      @highadvantage  7 років тому +1

      Well, if you plan on sticking with the hobby and growing your skillset you can never go wrong with a programmable (real) radio. But if you're unsure how far you want to progress maybe just go with the RTF. Or just get the RTF now and upgrade your radio later if you decide to stick with it. Either way, you'll be able to fly the 230 and have lots of fun!

    OK, now I have a couple questions. I am setting up mine on my DX9 also. I went exactly by the manual. but I don't remember setting up a switch for "stability" mode ? I got my flight modes right. is stability mode used in ALL flight modes ? and also my bind button seems like it won't work for "panic mode" . it doesn't respond to anything on the Monitor screen. Did I overlook something ? I'm learning..and appreciate the help !

    Been scared s--tless about "Collective Pitch". Although I've flown cheap
    coax and toy grade helis over the years, when the time came to buy me a
    heli that would bind with my Spektrum, this model was the best option. I
    almost got the 200, but I saw myself wanting to upgrade a few months
    later, and then starting to buy and buy some more. So I jumped into the
    pool and got this one, the 230 S.
    In your estimation, is flying this model on SAFE mode the same as flying
    any comparable Quad in SAFE Mode? Folks out there really put the fear
    on me, I've bought it almost a week ago and its still in the box, while I
    keep reading about gyroscopic precession, and swashplates, CCPM, etc
    etc.
    Wanted to ask you, because despite you being a clear great heli pilot,
    the Stability mode takeoff was very tame, and it seem as you mentioned that anyone with basic RC experience would be able to take it for a basic ride.
    Thanks for your response and happy flights.

    • @highadvantage
      @highadvantage  7 років тому +1

      Yes, if you can fly a self-leveling quad you should have no problem with this heli. The most difficult part will be the lift off. Spool up very slowly and the heli won't want to tip. Just go slow and take your time. You could also invest in a training kit for your heli. Those are the little sticks with balls on the end that you strap to the bottom of your skids... Good luck and have fun!!

      [Update] I was very pleased to find that the difficulty achieving a hover in Stability mode, was because the SAFE channel operates through the GEAR, and the Spektrum download file does not have it configured correctly, so the whole time I was trying to take off my first real RC CP Heli, I had no gyro assistance. Once I fixed this, the takeoffs were a breeze. Something worth checking if anyone's having issues with the first take offs and hovers!

      You may need to practice on a simulator. Agility mode is full 3d mode. There is no self correcting in this mode. It only does what you command it to do with your transmitter. It's very difficult at first. Just keep practicing.

      How does the tail hod up to tail first hurricanes? It sounds to be working hard in just hover but that doesn't always mean it is. Smooth, jerky, smooshy, solid? How does it compare to 180 for instance?
      Cheers

    • @highadvantage
      @highadvantage  8 років тому

      +MicroRCFiend Tail is very smooth. I did several hurricanes with no issue at all. I haven't had a chance to really push the heli though so I couldn't compare it to what I know about the 180. The 180, however is definitely designed for the advanced pilot, where the 230 is more for the beginner to intermediate pilot.

    • @MicroRCFiend
      @MicroRCFiend 8 років тому

      Cheers, I hope you will push it in future videos and be honest about any flaws if so. Very interested where it's limits are. I have a 180 so its not in competition, its just a standard i know you have to compare to.
