i personally await the ultimate collab for told in ancient texts, where Ryan, Daniel and Steven He descend from heaven to deliver the funniest sketch ever (yes i changed my comment)
This is actually so relatable. Sometimes I have caught myself thinking about throwing everything away and surviving in the woods or anywhere else. Except the desert. It's too hard to survive there.
Sounds great, until you realise that in most places it's actually illegal to live in the wilderness. Which is insane. I'm sure if it was remote enough, no-one would actually find you, but it is technically still illegal.
when i was 19, i read Walden by Henry David Thoreau and was determined to go build a small cabin in the boonies and live off the land. i still think about that sometimes.
That’s still on my TBR list! I keep looking at it on my shelf and then reading other things 😆 I’ll be on the couch feeding a newborn a lot soon, though, so I’ll have to prioritize that book specifically.
This resonates in my soul. I grew up on a quiet, heavily wooded little island, moved to the woods in the middle of nowhere (aka up north), and currently live in a densely populated city a block away from Detroit. This is literally me at least 4x a day.
69th like (Sorry, I had to bring it up due to being possessed by a demon that makes me make inappropriate jokes.), and also, me when someone takes me out of my fantasy world 😂 (Though I'm usually just talking angrily, sometimes yelling, and not violent. However I DO occasionally curse, so I DO have behavioral issues.)
I now have the strong masculine urge to live on an island in the woods with the boys with this song playing constantly... For quite literally no reason
This song will be stuck in my head forever and ever 😂 Not complaining. FYI, we moved from the city to the woods nine years ago. Bought a cheap house that feels like a treehouse vacation destination, and started working from home, growing our own food, and frolicking in the forest whenever we feel like it. It literally is the best 😊 Follow your dreams, people.
as a person with ADHD, i literally can't stop thinking about something like this when anyone is just yapping about smth boring, lol edit: thanks for a hundred likes :3
I really relate to the struggle of holding any basic conversation against my adhd fueled escapist daydreaming. A never ending struggle since I was but a young lad
Okay… Dude, this is a masterpiece. I’m in shock at how much this has amazed me. I have a playlist where I keep all the videos that I love, and this is going on there 100%.
Im literally reading a bunch of essays in English by this guy called Henry David Thoreau and its literally about this guy who went to the woods and just chilled there for 2 yrs. This must be a sign for me to live in the woods now
“…this guy called Henry David Thoreau…” I’m both happy that you’re being exposed to Thoreau and incredibly sad that he’s being referred to as “this guy.”
@@rapid13 Oh yeah that guy, I went to his cabin out by Walden, named the whole damn park after him, think he was big shot or something back in his day and had shots with this guy named Hemmingway and rode a train with a guy named Twain. He also hunted ravens with some dude named Poe. As for what happened to his buddy Crockett, well I think he died down in the Alamo. Well now I've said my rhyme so I guess I'll bid you all a good time.
I distinctly remember this yearning ever since I was a child. I had to keep giving myself the reality check that I didn't know how to survive on my own and that I wouldn't really know how to find my way back home if I ran off to the woods!
As someone who has spent a decent amount of time in the woods, I'd love to see most UA-camrs try to live off the land/grid. Every one of those tasks is much harder than you think, and the punishment for failure is a slow death.
That Wolf Puppet was so cute actually and Daniel I also think about living in the woods and no joke feel like they are calling me sometimes. Guess I am crazy as you 😂
Man, the time I spend outdoors just makes me appreciate running water and blankets and antibiotics. I'd do a little off-grid homestead in a heartbeat, though.
This is so perfect for me, I think about the woods all the time I'm not kidding. I always have these little bursts where I think I'd survive well in the woods and then I return to my normal life and forget about it until the next time.
That reference to “a world that jumped the shark” sent me down a path of existential dread. I mean, what if the world has gone on longer than intended? I’m sitting here watching a man whose job it is to make silly videos that I watch on a tiny super computer that I hold in my hand while my ancestors crossed oceans, fought in wars, and carved livings out of the earth. Weird.
Look up the SMBC comic page on Anthroponuclear Multiple Worlds Theory. Basically, in any logical version of reality, we would have already wiped ourselves out with nuclear weapons. So to continue to exist in a version of reality where that hasn't happened, it has to keep being stranger and more illogical.
Every time something even remotely bad happens to me I turn to my nearest friend and I tell them I’m going to go live in the woods. I am severely allergic to bugs. The woods do not want me the way I want them.
I like to call this feeling “the yearn”. Almost everyone has a yearn, some for a place to live, others for a thing to do, a place to work, or even a kind of thing, or a person. My yearn is for the caves. I want so desperately to live in a cave. The yearn can lead you to do crazy things. Edit: I believe the yearn is a leftover thing from our prehistoric ancestors, from a time back when it was very needed to survive. Nowadays, it isn't needed, but still occurs to try to help us survive, though we've solved most issues the yearn tries to fix.
For anyone who is seeking a way to alleviate the yearn, if it is similar to that Daniel described in this video, I'd recommend going out into nature occasionally on hikes or walks, and maybe even hunting sometimes. It certainly helps to do such things tied to your yearn semi-often.
This takes me back to my childhood (particularly my grandmas house far away) when days were just filled with adventures. Each day I would search for a fine stick to fight an urtica with... The woods will live forever!
I often have to remind myself that the answer is not a hut in the woods (Even though subconsciously I know that it might be, at least it will be better than a lot of whatever it is that society has been up to)
I so feel this. I've lived on the edge of Rome, outside the ring road, for the past 8 years or so; literally saw _beautiful green wavy hills_ of national park/protected farmland almost every day, *and couldn't get to them because they're surroudned by private property.* But then again, I remember that I don't have any money to build a house and connect all the essentials.. also there are deadly wild boars.

Hi there hello
Do you have a democracy for me?
My favorite part is that Daniel didn't even bother filming any of this in the woods
He's making you long for the REAL woods by doing this
I grew up on a farm in rural Tennessee… Now I work in an office high-rise in Baltimore. This video speaks to me on a spiritual level.
Small farm town in NC near Appalachia to one of the larger cities in the midwest. I hear the call back to the mountains every single day.
I grew Central Kansas in the country, wandering through the backwoods was something special and I'll never forget it.
Sorry, hon'.

Daniel Thrasher fans on their way to comment the exact same thing and give the exact same response on every single one of his videos:
