    In 2024, people can practice their chess game by playing thousands and thousands of opponents online at literally any time of day, but back in the 1990s and earlier, you needed to actually find people to play against, ones who actually wanted to play chess, luckily for Judit, she had two sisters, and other family members, who also loved playing chess often, that was quite an advantage for improving your game before the internet.

    • @sophiewang1025
      @sophiewang1025 2 місяці тому +6

      The Polgar sisters' father basically did everything he could to foster their passion for chess and improve their chess skills as a sort of experiment to show that "talent", as opposed to something a person is born with or isn't, can be acquired entirely through training.

    I think Judit teaches well, while little Bodhana shows incredible intelligence, focus and playing skills for a 9-year-old. I just hope that she aims for something much more than women's world champion because such goals don't sound very encouraging.

      @@Overlordsen what this user is talking about is not selling yourself short.
      Many vary talented female chess players limit themselves by playing mostly woman's only chess. Where players like Ju Wenjun, Hou Yifan, Humpy Koneru, and the Muzychuk sisters have a strong sense of domination over the competition within there respective regions, only improving to stay above smaller competition. It's like settling for a silver or even a bronze trophy when you can go for gold or even higher. Judit Polgar sits as the only female chess player to accomplish a rating of over 2700 ELO for this very simple reason.

    As valuable as this advices are, it's lovely to see little Bodhana already know the vast majority of these things. Beating a strong 2400+ player at the age of 8 spells a bright future and her rating increase is reminiscent of Mishra or Faustino. She would have a chance to fight for Magnus' position, but she certainly has the predispositions to be a top open rating player, so let's hope she doesn't waste her potential in women's tournaments. Unfortunately, the organizers are now not making it any easier for women to be really good at the game with these equalized prizes. If only they wouldn't take away from her ambitions and if only she had it herself.
