I agree it was cool but more people would identify with the broadway lyrics because of how much stronger and more passionate the lyrics are plus imho the movie is not good and the musical is superior

Newsies has some of the best lyrics and rhyme schemes I’ve ever seen in a musical. Just listening to any song in the score is like listening to a masterpiece.

Newsies was the "Movie Night" movie at my first sleep-away camp many years ago! I have always held it in a special place in my heart! I LOVED this medley!!! Please do full length songs from Newsies!!!

I've always "kinda-liked" Peter Hollens, never considering myself a true fan, until now. This has reaffirmed my love for Newsies, and I truly appreciate the effort Peter Hollens has gone in to having to record and film each part. The amount and work and time that must have gone into making just this single video is stupendous to comprehend. I also love the seamless transition from Santa Fe to Seize the Day.

Seriously Peter, every time I watch this I think that you should have the lead in this play on Broadway. You’re not just singing it, you’re acting it (as usual with every song), in several characters. Just spectacular.
I know this will probably get buried, but, Peter, your music, your covers, the fun you have with all the music... it has brought me back from dark places. You and your music are one of three go-to's... of which you have worked with, or on. I really hope you see this, and so you know, you have kept me smiling even when at the bottom. I hope you never lose your passion for this. I'm sure it keeps me, and many others, from the darkest parts of their mind.

Love it! My Niece's High Schools theater department did Newsies this year! She was in the Chorus and they got nominated for Best Ensemble/Chorus in the Dallas Summer Musical High school Musical Theater awards! They also got nominated for Best Choreography
, Best Direction, Best Supporting Actor. They won Best Choreography!

I’m guessing some of these lyrics are from the movie, yes? I’ve listened to the Broadway soundtrack a lot (too much probably 😂) and certain parts didn’t sound familiar. It was BEAUTIFUL, regardless, and it made my lousy night SO much better! I especially loved King of New York!
When the Newsies movie came out in 1992, I was just 8 years old. Disney sort of introduced me to the world of musicals through this movie, and I have been such a fan of musicals ever since and have seen so many throughout my lifetime. To this day, Newsies is still my favourite musical of all time and I finally got to see it live on stage because it came to Toronto, Canada after being on Broadway a few years ago! Considering you are one of my very favourite singers, this was such a treat, Peter! ❤ Thank you so much for this lovely compilation! You did an AMAZING job, as usual. I am just blown away. I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE a full version of Santa Fe if you ever feel up to it one day. It is my very favourite song from the Newsies soundtrack. And I loved the snippet you included. It was so lovely! Thank you for this so much, Peter! Truly made my whole weekend. ❤❤❤

Pastrami on rye with a sour pickle. My personal puss on a wooden sickle’ which this isn’t. The same goes for the other sings. Like Seize The Day is ‘Now is the time to seize the day. Stand to the call and don’t delay. Wrongs will be righted if we’re united’. The ‘friend of the friendless’ and ‘neighbour to neighbour, father to son’ was cut from the broadway version. A lot of the songs were reworded. The film version is still full of a few bangers but it’s definitely not the broadway version
@@VictorianOrpheus So then it's a definite mix of versions because Santa Fe isn't fully the movie version. But it isn't fully Broadway either. It switches back and forth. My guess, Peter wanted to appeal to both sets of fans, which I would say he did a pretty good job of doing. Would you not agree?
Pandora Kurtz Technically there’s two versions of Santa Fe in the film; there’s the one where Jack steals a horse for no reason and then the version where he’s in the cell at the Refuge. Just like there’s two in the broadway version; the one he sings with Crutchie at the beginning and the one after Crutchie is taken to the Refuge. But yeah, that’s valid

AHH! Newsies is still one of my favorite musicals to date. I saw the movie when I was little, back in the 90s, played an extra Newsie in a local stage production (with my hair tucked up under my cap so I looked like a boy, HA!) and I still know every song by heart. I was singing along happily until I I realized something was off. I'm much more familiar with the Broadway lyrics rather than the movie's. Thankfully, I know both, so I did okay.

It has lyrics from both the Broadway show and the movie. I thought Broadway would be more identifiable. I hate that I have to be constantly worrying about my titles and if UA-cam will show my video to people. It's stressful!!
