Over $80k and they got rid of the LED taillights and front turn signals. Minor detail for many but you shouldn’t lose features on a refresh or redesign.
I've said it on one or two other channels, but feels like the past 2-3 years manufacturers have really been playing games with giving us full LEDs. It's like you can only get the headlights OR taillights, and when we do get both, they either pull some crap like the turn signals aren't LED, or same with the reverse lights.
They should be banned on trucks anyways so good riddance
And the biggest problem no more v8s and this hurricane engine probably has alot of problems
The daytime running lights are the headlights too. Burn em out faster.
A 29k Prius has full LED lights. lol.

ah yes, the same ole comment🤡🤡

The only time these things ever go off road is driving home drunk after a union meeting. They really are silly looking.
At $80 for 1500, that's crazy; these things are going to sit on the dealer lots for a while until they offer some crazy discounts.
They already are. I ordered a Rebel and got 6k off MSRP
I always said an inline 6 with massive turbo makes the best truck engine. Tons of power and torque. Lasts long time and easy to work on.
Yeah but you didn't mention it's a Stellantis inline turbo six. Does anybody have any long term faith in a brand new Chrysler engine? A ticking time bomb.
Its been out for 3 years already chill man@@Steven-en6uu
@@Steven-en6uuI feel 50/50 with the engine tbh. It had all it needs to be stout(closed deck block while the H.O has forged internals and crank unlike the S.O with a low compression ratio)and a good engine that can last with a lot of power(H.Os case). However, I have atleast 4 issued with it.
1. No dipstick(tho this is 50/50) since it has no dipstick it can go either way tbh, cause I know people who have audis S/C 3.0L V6(yes less power)that don't have one either but are known to be bullet proof and see plenty of 150k-200k+ mile examples out there, but knowing stellantis this can go either way and the aftermarket can just make it a dipstick overtime.
2. DI only. It being direct injection can lead to carbon build up but can be avoided by doing what ford, toyo, and bmw is doing with their 6 cylinders by going dual port and direct so that wouldn't be a issue.
3. Cylinder deactivation.........I very much hope they can just delete this entirely.
4. Hear they had thermostat issues that caused some to blow or have issues so that's something that Def needs working out if anything and could be serious for ram, charger, and later model hurricane powered cars down the line.
The engine has potential, they need to fix these issues first if anything, toyo is also having its issues with their TTV6 blowing up and such so hopefully it's a growing pain and hopefully it'll somewhat end up like the ecoboost and being updated overtime.
@@carboydorifutoparty3976 I 100% agree as we have the 2011 Durango with the hemi and it's been pretty damn reliable as the issues I have with it is that the mechanics half ass did the coil packs so I have a misfire until I fix it, and the other issue I have is O2 sensors which was easy to replace, and I have now replace the original alternator from 2010 when it was first built. The carbon build up issue could be that they are hiding the technology that allows it to remove the carbon or 2 they don't have it as so far there is very little exact detail about the engine other then hp difference and one have a fully forged internals and a higher compression ratio, other then that this engine is the biggest upgrade Fca or now stellantis have done since this engine is now faster then all of the competitors engine except the ford raptor R, as I think this engine is gonna compete well against bmw B58 and maybe bmws S58 but thats a bit far lol. The non oil dipstick isn't new but is something I am seeing manufactures moving to as the time goes on which makes replacing the sensor expensive and a pain in the ass.
@@coolsquad7428 tbh the engine is similar to the S58 atleast in the H.Os case while the S.O is similar to the B58 but could be debatable weaker(tho that's unknown for now). I'd say considering the fact that the H.O ram 1500s were recorded to be able to do low 13s stock there's a high chance the awd 2024 chargers would be just as fast as the G80s considering the weight difference between the 1500-charger which more than likely would interest people. Plus, of dodge ever decides to put a 6.4 in the awd charger would have many jumping it the moment it comes out(just wishing if it does happen)but still, that'd come down to how the aftermarket would hit it plus its gains also.
Just spent two days each in one these and in a F150. This Ram was hands down in every way nicer to be in and drive. Had the smaller standard mirrors. Fords center work table is a nice touch though, but that was the only thing nicer.
lol I have a 2024 f-150 hybrid and the ford is so much nicer than Stellantis CRAP 💩

@@bigamigo4863Actually, it is the #1 worst truck besides the f150 that is existing.

@SouthernStyle07 wrong lol Go take a look at JD Powers most reliable trucks of 2024. Edmunds also has if rated very high as well as pretty much every other. Sorry bud 😢😢
RAM 1500 are the nicest trucks for sure
Best motor. Best trans. Best interior. NOT close. Spanks my 3.5 eco in a race
I almost fell out of my chair when he said $84k.
You can get one significantly cheaper.
Once you take this truck for a ride, you will forget very quickly about F-150 and GMC Sierra, its a promise. And, I don't work for Dodge. I was very impressed with the ride, I mean its super. The I-6 is a power house and sooooo smooth.
Dang it. Ram finally ruined their gauge clusters by throwing in the giant screen. I loved the previous ram gauge clusters because they were still analog and looked very aesthetically pleasing.
They actually look really good in person. You can still have that old analog gauge look on it
I wasn’t a fan at first either but it grew on me, being able to have the gps route directly on the screen was a plus for me
@@loganatorexit They already had a display in the middle showing an arrow and directions when you were 1 mile away. I think it was better before
Analog is still standard on the Laramie, Big Horn and Tradesman. The one in the video has a level 2 equipment option which gives it the digital cluster, 14” screen and passenger screen.
They still sell the classic model if you want that homie.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen one of these on the highway NOT tailgating and weaving in and out of traffic at 20+ mph over the speed limit.
It identifies as a BMW
16:00 AYYOOO WHAT DID THIS MAN JUST SAY!?!?!
😂
It's a man's truck. Now you know why it's so easy to get dates in. 🌭
18:03 Great observation! Yes, the Harmon curve has a "scooped out" midrange 😢 Making the audio seem detailed but thin and as you said "hollow"
Ah, another audiophile 😊
Had a 22 2500 tradesman that came with the alpine system. Sounded better than this ngl
I have a 25 big horn. Has the Alpine system, absolutely love it
Inline 6, smart move. I wish the Tundra went this direction.
Interesting, I love the mirrors. They have better visibility and better for towing. It is a truck at the end of the Day.
First gen of a new engine is always a scary thing, especially on the heels of something like the 5.7 Hemi. Kind of suspect, when the turbos go...and they will...it's gonna be REALLY expensive to repair. The dealer near me offers drive train warranty for life as long as you maintain the truck with them, so maybe that would make the hurricane a safer choice. I appreciate that you showed the lowest suspension level (my wife is short!), but it's still too high to get away with not having step sides. I'd like to see a proper "kneel" mode where this thing really bottoms out for ingress (not driving). Looking forward to seeing the HO version of this truck for comparison.
"some fun numbers there" oh I see you, Chris
420hp / 469lbft
bruh lol
I think a vertical screen in 2024 is wild
I like the new side mirrors, hopefully I can get them for my 2022 1500
I do hope this turns out to be a solid engine but the most concerning part of the engines reliability is the use of 0w20 oil.
The High output motor specs 0w-40, so That is what I would put in the SO as well. The crankshaft and connecting rods are the same in both engines.
I mean- Toyota is getting away with ow-8
@@djplonghead5403 yeah and they just recalled 100k engines for blowing the bottom end
@@NINE-PACK That's caused by a manufacturing process issue with debris being left in the engine. Not an oiling problem.

Alway love your details and thoughts.
How did we let this happen? $80+ K for a truck !!!!
ppl still buying them.... that's what lol and ppl buying to flex that the price doesnt bother them..all it takes is a few suckers at a dealership or two reported sales at that price and kaboom! new standard
Americans voted for it.
The HO engine is gonna be even better. Wait till tunes come out.
I am really liking what Dodge is putting out. As much as i would love to have a Rebel or one of these Laramies. I would have to go with the Ford brand for long term trucking. ☮️💙
13:51 same goes for ford mustang GT the signal sound is like a galloping sound like horse stomp
My dream truck! 🤤
I will give them credit. The back seat is roomy. But it's not worth paying 84k. Had they fixed the issues with the transmission? I had one 7 years ago. Had problems with the transmission. It was a lemon. 😢 Yet, it was a beautiful Laramie. Smooth riding.
The ZF 8-speed is generally an incredibly reliable, smooth, and strong transmission so sounds like you just had bad luck. Often considered one of the best transmissions in the industry and is used by everyone from Jeep/RAM all the way up to Rolls Royce.
Its like a 60's to 70' full size 6 passenger car without the trunk lid.😂 the bed is so small.
Im gonna miss the hemi
Am I the only one who absolutely despises that turn signal sound effect? That weird pattern drives me up the wall 💀
Hides the passenger screen from driver view, but mounts a vertical TV on the dash. Logic
17:20 The speed of the shifts caught my attention. It makes me wonder if it has always shifted that quickly but the analog gauges can't keep up. It drops 2 gears as quick as a truck with analog gauges drops 1.
The ZF8 is one of the best modern transmissions ever
@@AlphaOmega333I know they shift quick and smooth but after years of driving a 19 Ram limited and 23 charger RT I can say I have never seen the RPMs drop so quickly like a DCT. Even when watching 2025 Rams with analog gauges they seem to shift slower (Based on RPM of gauges.)
What a truck!!!
I will keep my 2021 Ram Laramie Hemi Etorque with Rambox.
84K as tested, jeez. Lots of tech in the truck and we shall see with this engine setup. You can probably be happy with it at a lower trim level.
True but dealerships are offering insane deals on theses as up to 10k off the original price.

@@tizodd6 It's downright depressing.
I got my 2022 ram laramie for 52k with a zero percent interest loan, and I thought that was bad lol
This is the low output hurricane?
I like this truck. I dont like the mirrors and i feel like there is too much going on. You mentioned sound a lot and one thing i noticed was that the door chime seems to be higher ptched than previous models. Otherwise, very nice truck
People complaining about these mirrors likely have never towed anything large behind them. The whole point of them is to improve your visibility behind you when pulling say a 30 foot enclosed trailer. If you had the typical dinky mirrors you'd never be able to safely make a lane change because some large trailers completely obstruct your vision of the incoming vehicles behind you on the left and right side.
@@kamilb8232 I have towed large trailers many times. These mirror might provide good rearward visibility, but they are also bulky and excessive for the truck. You likely aren't going to be towing a 30ft trailer with a 1/2 ton anyways, so these mirrors are just a hindrance for owners. In any case, Ford does it better.
@JAKE20fivefive I agree Ford does it better with telescoping mirrors. But even if it's not 30 ft. Say 20 foot enclosed car trailer. You'll see plenty of those with 1/2 tons when going on track days when people bring it their track dedicated toys. Those trailers are incredibly wide and these mirrors would be great over the standard mirrors that would make your butt pucker every time you needed to make a lane change on a freeway.
@c.j.alessi1794 wow how did you get this early?

Has the hood been repainted?
So they forgot to install the "Dual pane sunroof" that's on the option sheet but not on the truck?
No oil dipstick like this engine doesn’t have is the biggest 🚩
84k with options but no sunroof or power steps? That doesn't make sense.
No Heated/Ventilated rear seats for $84k? That would be over $100k Canadian...
This RAM definitely identifies as a BMW. I know people love V8s, but there's a reason all big rigs use Inline-6 motors.
It will be a tough sell for dealers with plenty of remaining inventory sitting on Ram lots right now. Prices have passed the point of sanity and the result will leave dealerships in tough.
You should drive a new or old Cummins
Hey Topher, which one is better this or the Silverado ZR2?
Nice Speedmaster and review... Thank you
Nice sound
Yea I am not a fan of the new moose mirrors. I liked the old ones you could fold.
How many miles till it loses its lifters and spins a main.
At least it's an inline 6 and not a stupid v6
Better than the tundras.
@djplonghead5403 new ones probably the same like the eco boost just trash.
The old 5.7 v8 in the tundras is amazing and way better then anything RAM has ever made tick tick tick tick
7:06 you know what else is massive? 😊
When he said 80k I was done.
Nope nope nope.
Lets be real here. Those extra options don't actually cost the factory anywhere that much.
Nothing wrong with an I6 engine at all, they are quite compatible, but i'll miss the V8
84k ? why not opt for the limited
Remember boys, stay away from them Turbo’s. They’re not meant for trucks.
Stay away from any turbo engines
The Cummins? Barra?
@@carboydorifutoparty3976 any turbo is bad, it just over stress the engine. less life span.
@@Freddie330 your claim can easily be thrown out with the many diesel turbo trucks running about making 800k-1 million miles. Especially knowing popular turbo engines like the 2jzgte are incredibly reliable even on high mileage and do just fine. It depends on how its designed by what manufacturer. Heck, your claim can be thrown at the N54 either na or turbo those things were unreliable one way or another, and there are still those who managed to get 2-300k miles out of them regardless if they were turbo'd or not. Turbos are just another maintenance item thatll go out overtime 150-200k if taken care of. The only way they'll go out faster is if the owner is careless or barely takes care of the car as is which many people do nowadays or if the manufacturer cheaped out on development. It's dumb to say all when there's plenty of factory boosted engines doing just fine, especially not including the good number of na engines that are just as unreliable as boosted engines.
@@carboydorifutoparty3976 turbos can be working just fine in cold weather areas. In hot weather it simply a nightmare. And turbos still can’t beat the reliability of natural aspirated engines

@@kamilb8232 Just stupid "muh V8" nonsense that people are spamming in every truck video.
@kamilb8232 - A N/A will provider better long-term reliability and lower maintenance costs.
@JAKE20fivefive That has nothing to do with utility. Not to mention can argue there may be less maintenance cost on the 6. Less oil capacity and spark plugs. But regardless, utility =/= maintenance or reliability.
@@kamilb8232 First of all the SST has roughly the same 7qt oil capacity as the Hemi. Second, being 2 spark plugs down don't make up for the other maintenance items over the long-term.

All I care for in a truck is a crew cab, long bed, basic V8 motor, tow package and AC. All the other stuff is just fluff yet no truck comes as a basic trim anymore and the cost is out of reach.
Having a 2021 Limited here are my thoughts.
Information listed is about 2021 compared to 2025.
Screen for gauge is useless- our physical one works fine.
Must have physical heated/vented seat buttons.
Center console is lacking the fold-down covers for the slider section.
Wireless charger SUCKS. We have to put our phone diagonally for it to work.
Sound system is good but the middle rear seat will give you a headache.
Build quality is trash. The bottom of the screen (tow haul section) and surround “carbon fiber” material has massive gaps and is loose.
Volume knobs feel cheap and are not mounted well- in contrast to the shifter.
Rear vented seats to almost nothing.
More quality- our right power step works about 90% of the time- sometimes it just doesn’t deploy.
Quality- panel below the tailgate is missing screws
The lack of lock/unlock buttons/slider on the other doors is infuriating! The vertical thing on the door is awful and will pinch your arm if it is resting there.
Sunshade is too slow.
Rear “pro” tailgate (the horizontal split one) doesn’t latch unless you slam it.
Door handles inside feel like the cheapest plastic ever (they might not even be plastic, but they feel cheap).
Otherwise, it is a nice vehicle. Needs more tech. I doubt the quality will be better but for the sake of Mopar I hope so. None of what I mentioned about our 21 is a dealbreaker but it is annoying when it is that much money. Also with city driving our v8 gets about 12.8 mpg and 380 miles on a full tank. (Estimated). Low fuel comes on at 50 miles left.
Edit- forgot one
The limited badge will burn you after sitting in the sun. Way too hot.
Full size pickups are one of the great scourges of the road.
