Watching your videos brings back some of my best memories back in my college days you have the perfect blend of Huell Howser narration style and my Geology Professors knowledge.
Very nice video! It's a shame what the fires have done to the lushness of the San Gabriels. It hurts to see all the graffiti left behind by people that have absolutely no respect for the historical sites & beauty of the area. Unfortunately this National Forest will continue to suffer & burn thru every fire season, here on out. --- It's good to see you and your family still enjoyed it!
@@Rfk1966 Do you know the reason Hwy 39 is closed? I remember, originally it was close due to landslides ... if I remember correctly. That was several decades ago, however. I've always wondered if the permanent closure, has remained in order to keep the crowds down. Beach Blvd (Hwy. 39) was just too convenient.
@@gabepettinicchio7454 I find it hilarious that it's still 'officially' a road with a temporary closure. Despite being closed for over 50 years. When you watch the news crawl showing road closures they still show it as a 'temporary' closure. There is a reason for that, I think they would have to legally de-commission the road and then try restoring the land. The excuse for not repairing it as I read it years ago, was they found big horn sheep up there, and they couldn't disturb their natural habitat. Meanwhile, you will never hear of a bighorn sheep sighting from all the millions of visitors up there. So apparently it was only the Caltrans study, that managed to see one! Amazing coincidence.
Yes, it is a real bummer. Especially if you've seen the area in the '80s, which I have, and it was fairly free of this crap. One thing we've noticed over the past 25 years, the further away you get from civilization, mainly L.A., or away from a major interstate, the less vandalism you see.
This place has been a sanctuary for me when they locked everything up during COVID. Thank you for the video.
You're welcome and thanks for commenting.
I really appreciate how you use labels and graphics. It makes your trip crystal clear for those that want to follow in your path.
Thanks Steve, that's what we're going for!
Thank you for another great tour. it got me to thinking, I haven't been across highway 2 and Wrightwood in over forty years.
Sounds like time to go!
Your Channel by far is the best and most meticulously descriptive routing to some great destinations ! Thank you so much. Happy trails !

That was an awesome video. Nice work!
Glad you liked it! Thank you.
I've hiked up the east fork to the bighorn mine. Your video brought back fond memories. Thank you.
Thank you!

Indeed. In a few years, the only long needle pines left will be ones immediate to the resort towns

Completely sickened, but not surprised by the wretched graffiti. I love your videos!

Dats beautiful
Great video! Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the western slide (8:25) was from 1941. I believe the eastern slide is from the 1960s.
You could be right. I didn't have good info on the slides.
The mine at big horn is awesome
I’m guessing these roads are not RV or Travel Trailer accessible?
Correct
Not true. I’ve seen smaller motor homes/trailers at both blue ridge campground and Guffy before. It’s not advisable though.
Love the music. What's the name?
Music comes from Audioblocks.com
How did they get the ore down?
Much of the ore was processed at the mill on-site. What was processed I'm sure was carried to market on a wagon.
I tried to get into the NASA observatory on top table mountain 🤣
Too bad it’s got graffiti all over. Still a cool place. Great day trip
Yes, very unfortunate. But still definitely cool stuff.
love the area but it's a shame there is so much graffiti all over everything.
Yes, the graffiti is definitely a shame. I remember a day 20-30 years ago when there was none.
San andreas fault is nearby
Yes it is. See: ua-cam.com/video/1vWvHaaMJnM/v-deo.html
