Awesome video, thank you for posting this! All they do is talk about the 100 meters on TV, when their are amazing athletes on the shotput. Really gat to see the quick summary you made for us.
Lauro de Argentina ... realizo excelente labor, pues no solo quedo de 6to sino que rompió varias veces el Record Argentino de Bala, también que en Argentina no hay fuerte tradición en lanzamientos, Esperemos que muchos jóvenes sigan su camino
hey ive been having problems with the rotational and im looking for some help i cantstay in the circle i always fall out of the front by alot, im a discus thrower as well so the smaller shot circle is a bit difficult for me, im 6'1ft 1/2in and im 16 going into my jounier year im not sure if my legs are to long or something that makes it more difficult, i stand throw 39ft with the 12lb im also 210lbs so if anyone can guide me on if my body is no good for the rotation id be very happy for the help
Your coach is correct. The only exception is that in any competition your qualifying throws in that compitition determine the order the competedors' throws in the final rounds. Consistancy, which is an indication of the athlete's abilities at that time, will account for his/her performance.
@Joe Segreto I'm around 6'4 270 and staying in the ring is easy for me, do you step on the toe board when you bring your foot down or do you throw the shot and then step over the toe board
This is awesome! I have just gotten into watching this sport and really liking it the most, along with the Javelin and hammer throw. Im glad to see this video. I'm so inspired by this Sport that I actually want to try doing it just for fun!
The toe board is used as a folcrum by planting your foot at its base. Only the face of the toeboard facing the center of the ring in in bounds. All other faces are out of bounds hence foul.
im only 12 but im 5'6" 160lbs and i throw 23' with a 4 kg 20' with 12lb and with a 6lb (what i throw in meets) i get 27' and im wondering if thats good or not
It's not the glide vs the spin. It was the taller vs. the shorter. Height and reach play a bigger role than whether someone glides or spins across the ring. I prefer the glide because you can unleash more torque into the throw, and reach out over the toe board farther, and control the trajectory better. The glider is more consistent. The spinners can set world records, but they aren't as consistent as the gliders. Hence they got beat this time around.
NBC failed hardcore...everything was supposed to be available online and then Men's Shot Put Final and Women's Discus Qualification never were outside of the live stream.
Height and reach hahs very lttle influence....sheer power and explosiveness are far more of an advantage....taller guys have more of a problem with spin...if Majewski could throw further with spinning....why do you think he glides....
Gliders seem to be explosive but not quite as skilled. Spinners seemed to have a little more skill but maybe not as athletic or explosive. That's just MY opinion. I can standing throw 49 feet but my glide will only made me throw around 51 as I started spinning a month ago and I'm hitting 51 consistently and 53-55 on good throws.
Thank you so much for putting this up NBC doesnt out this up and it really pisses me off. Gotta love those gliders

Great summary. By the way. The two best throws this afternoon were with the classical style: Majewski 21.89 and my heroe David Storl 21.86.

Thank you!! But, it would have been much more amazing if you showed the shot landing! It adds to the excitement!!
Than you ! The tv only showed 3 mins worth of it :/
Great footage - cheers for sharing!

extraordinary timing and body control by the glider who won.
its really all about who gets the most help without going overboard. Some athletes still havent figured that out.
AWESOME VIDEO!
I recently won city championships for shot put!!!! But i was four cm away from the city record :(
is 21.65 good or not i got that as my PB in grade 5

Love this video...and Kolasinac...:))
really? Cause during practice we always use 6kg.
@fashionflavia1 it's in meters not feet, it's about 60 feet
random thought that we should have indoors in winter olympics
cool didnt know that they use different sizes in different places wow
well as my coach says ranks are ink on paper. it the throws that count and how you use them.

@joe segreto I don't think height matters unless you 6'6+ I'm 6,
Tak! Tak!Tak! MAJEWSKI FTW!
25'6" with a 4 kg i keep getting better so i keep changing it
Majewski ...the new al oerter?
bet he could throw a mean side winder lol
you mean 6 lb because i barely throw that far with that size
no 6kg on the shot it said 6kg....
12:19 storl just had an oh shit moment
thats what makes it ironic that the spin should go farther
24'with a 4 kg*
Fouls in all throwing events are not measured
Not really far and not further than his measured attempts.
