I only once in my life time experienced sea lights in the North Sea, during a sailing trip. Our skipper awakened us, launched a dinghy, and rowed around. Then he got into the water himself, and swam around. The light followed every movement. - It was the most impessive spectacle of nature I ever witnessed.
@@queenminks28xd64 Only when there is red tide. I float tubed the ocean one night when the ted tide was like this, everytime I kicked my feet the water would glow underneath me, scared the shit out of me. Kept praying there wasn't a shark near me.
QueenMinks28 xD it happens once in a while. A few years back it lasted for over a month in Carlsbad, California. When you walk in the wet sand, it glows to, and when you kick it, you have flying sparks! Also fun to surf in, glows when you paddle and when your surfboard moves through the water. Sometimes it is more intense then others! It is very cool!
So awesome. I drove to Moonlight Beach when this was going on. We could see it in Huntington Beach, but it wasn't as prominent. my friend that just moved here from WY didn't believe me about the red tide and she was in awe at this video tonight!!
I saw this as a kid and it was all over the beach, the beach looked normal but when you walked on it, it would glow where you disturbed the sand for just a moment then stop... so when you walked it was like the billy jean music video where the ground glows as you take steps... amazing
Way back in the 1950s when my wife and I were teenagers, we went to the beach at night when the red tide was doing its thing. We lived in Imperial Beach - most southwesterly part of the continental US. The waves broke just like in this video - fascinating and beautiful. When walking on the wet sand, the sand under our feet would flash with a glow. And when we walked and kicked the sand ahead of us, it would make a slight spray of glowing wet sand. Loved it. Thanks for the video.
Happening right now in Venice Beach California. I saw it tonight. Unreal. Had to figure out what it was. So beautiful. It's my bday tomorrow. So the best bday present ever :)
Hey there! I'm working on a video for my channel about the bioluminescent algae that lights up the waves like this and found your extraordinary footage here. I was wondering if I may be allowed to use your footage in my video? Naturally I'd give credit and link your original upload. Thanks very much for sharing this and well done!
I've seen this in real life. When I was around 10, I visited my late godfather who lived on the beach in (I think?) Tarzana CA. He had a GORGEOUS open villa with a master bedroom he let me stay in with a patio leading down to the beach. I remember walking around and kicking the water at night to see it glow. Awesome footage. What a wild phenomenon.
Ɓɑdɑss Tenshɨɨ it’s not. I’ve been in the water many times during red tide, have even surfed in it at night, very cool. Nothing happened to me, and now I’m almost 72!
Such beautiful camera work and so mesmerizing yet it’s completely wrecked by horrible choice of music genre, please edit the audio with a more soft and serene track.
Hi, I'm a journalist, working for a website called demotivateur.fr I would like to know if I can use some parts of this video to create a short film/video content about the place and post it on our page and social networks. Of course, you will be credited on screen and tag on it. Thanks a lot :) Cheers
Is there a specific time of the year when bioluminescence happens in this specific beach in sandiego? I want to skinny dip in there when it happens. Please let me know I'm eager to travel out there and check it off my bucket list before I pass away
alot i heard at... La Jolla Beach & Solana Beach... im not sure bout other places n sd but i wana c it too... i also found this... biopop.com/products/dino-pet ($60-70)
I can't see my homes water because everyone at sunset cliffs isn't participating in 6ft rule and must wear a mask thx for the video so I can see my homes culture
Jeff domner, The first time, I collected them in bottles from the ocean. I didn’t know how to take care of them. Now I have a Bio Orb. It has everything: the dinoflagellates, an orb they live in, and a bag of food/water. They need air, too, so I keep the stopper loose unless I want to swirl the orb. PyroFarms.com is the source.
Do you see the red tide every year down there in SD? I live in the Bay and I've only seen it once in Pacifica back in 2012. Would love to see it again, but it's so hard to keep up with. Any suggestions?
Is this your footage, and if so, can I use it? I want to tell a story about how when I was stationed in Cali, I witnessed this. Sadly, I do not have my own footage. Let me know? I'd give you all the credit for the footage.

yeah, exactly what mother nature wants: healthy humans to throw more soda bottles into the ocean
I've been watching that happen the past couple of nights in La Jolla. It's caused by noctiluca scintillans, a species of dinoflagellates.
