"A really bitchin' single rider queue."
Maybe my favorite quote in all of fresh baked history.
Mine is in the haunted mansion secrets where he said "Look at those gargoyles, God I love Disney detail"

Get Ready 4:00
Hahaha! I wouldn’t know, my wife never lets me go without her. 🤷🏼♂️😂
Hello from San Diego! Watching this on /11/2020....When I was a kid, I remember Tinkerbell flying down from the Matterhorn at dusk, I believe just before the parade. I love your videos! I found you thru Best Life and Beyond!! You all have great videos and content!! Thank You!!
"Remain seated please; cinnamon, toast and tacos on the floor!" XD
Omg I literally laughed out loud! Being a SoCal girl, grew up hearing that! I think you version is MUCH BETTER! 😉😉
That's hilarious! I'm going to think of that every time I hear it now...and laugh to myself! :D
OMG I can't hear it any other way now
That’s awesome! It’s kind of what I hear before I took Spanish class.
And, hate to be that guy, in case people are wondering, it should be “permanecer sentado por favor”.
Dakota55 no it's cinnamon toast and tacos por favor (please)
My history teacher worked for 15 years at disneyland as a cast member and was one of the people to actually put up that basketball hoop. And his buddy at the time was the first guy on the scene the day dolly died.
Matt Allen I think we had the same history teacher
Where is Dolly's Dip?
63Malda i’m pretty sure at 8:00
2:34 The Mountain Is A Yeti!
Man, the music makes me want to leave the office and go to the park now.
LOVE the Matterhorn music. I could listen to that all day.
Same!
IDK why but this is one of my favorite rides at Disneyland. My other favorites are Pirates of The Caribbean, the Haunted Mansion and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.
Matterhorn and Small World are the 2 rides that they CAN NEVER get rid of.
Don't forget PoTC and The Haunted Mansion!
Cannibal Bunny True too
Chumbersdee yah they are absolute classics
i can see it now, matterhorn closes in early 2018 to get reskinned into Avengers: mission: BREAKOUT
I know it's a joke but Disney will probably never get rid of this ride as it is one of the most famous attractions they have.
The new moving yetis are the reason that my favorite white jeans will forever have a shit stain in the back of them. Thanks Disney, ilysm.
+ZebraluvsZebras you definitely won the internet for today with this comment!
OML THIS JUST MADE MY NIGHT!!🤣😂
OMG! Your comment was hilarious! I do love the new moving Harolds. I believe the one in Expedition Everest no longer moves because the foundation cracked or something, so it's cool to have one up on Expedition Everest.
this comment is a whole ass mood
Hahaha 😂
I remember hearing the rumor of the basketball hoop in 6th grade, before the internet! 🤯
Without a doubt one of the best, most innovative rides ever made. So glad that only Disneyland has it.
You're right. We get this one all to ourselves.
Walt Disney world has expendition Everest is at Disney's animal kingdom
Ahhh only true Californians know the struggle of when this ride was closed for hella long time
Meth Sicle what about space mountain being closed for two years
Big thunder mountain railroad was closed one year
yah and now (Jan 2021) *the whole damned park* has been closed for almost a full year.
This was Great! Thank you Fresh Baked!
You're welcome. Thank you :)
Nope, nothing smooth about the Matterhorn. My hip is still out of place from our visit last year 😂
We were here a couple years ago waiting for the ride to open one morning. As we were waiting in line, a lady walked by and asked why the ride wasn't open yet. Without missing a beat papa says, "there is ice on the tracks, they are trying to get it thawed off". The lady says, "really"? Totally believing it. Lmao
The Matterhorn is a perfect example of one of what I think are called "Walt Moves". Walt sees something, he likes it, it's going in his park. Once he likes something to such an extent, there's no changing his mind, and good luck changing that man's mind xD
Good point !
The "Hidden Mickey" is just the former Skyway Hole that has been covered up a bit.
pepole see hidden mickys all the time where there are not any. its like seeing the "Illuminati" everywhwere.
triangles are seen everywhere becuse you connect any 3 random points not in a stright line and you have a triangle.
hidden mickys are seen do to the fact that disney uses circles and arches alot. there are very few "sharp" angles in disney. the rounding corners and shapes adds a whymsical feel to things
eventuly a couple of those shapes stack and happen to make a genrial micky shape.
there are real hidden mickys but they are always very clearly supposed to be micky
i like these vids of yours hope to see more secrets and history of disneyland :D
Great video! :D Also, I am kinda glad that the cars were redesigned to have indevidual seats because it was awkward having to sit on someones lap in order to ride...
I always thought I was the only one who noticed the big mickey on the matterhorn, I never heard anyone else talk about that it really helped clear that up. Thanks!
My favorite Disneyland ride. I almost wish they'd make an alpine village down at the base of it, but I know there's no way for there to be room for that :(
The first time I went on this ride was in 1965. Ten year anniversary of the park. They had a singer near the ticket booths on a ledge where it looks where they play at today. He had lederhosen and accordion yodeling songs and getting the crowed into the mix. Glad they finally brought it back. It was one of the best memories at the park back then. When they added the tandem car it slowed down the ride a whole lot. It also made it rougher in the turns with that join bar holding it together. Loved taking the sky way through the mountain. I understand the loading house in Fantasyland was torn down. The other I believe located in Tomorrow land may still be there.
I was at the park the day before they shut matterhorn down and got rid of the older tandem cars. I rode matterhorn over ten times until the park closed, I still miss those cars. I think I love those cars and the ride because it was one of the first roller coasters I went on and being able to sit closely to my parents helped me with my fears as a little child.
I can ride Big Thunder Mountain Railroad over and over -- day or night. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, too. But when it comes to the Matterhorn, once in a blue moon is fine.
Wonderful theming...always a feel-good experience...always fun!
And I love all the videos of Fresh Baked riding it....hilarious!
Great job, thanks!
I remember the “E” tickets!! Was soooo glad when they got rid of the tickets!! You bought your booklet, the “E” tickets were also the first to go and finally you had to figure out what to use your “A” tickets on!!
I love these. You do such a great job explaining the full history of the rides at Disney.
This was great!
Can't wait to go this summer!
Thanks so much!
I do miss those old lap seats. best ride to take a date on
I really enjoyed your video. Thanks for posting.
Yay!!! I've been waiting for this video ever since you announced! XD
Me too! It's been too long.
YES!! This is the best video on the Matterhorn! I had no idea about a lot of that stuff, thanks for the info! I can't wait for more Secrets and History videos! Fresh Baked!

Great information thank you for this video!
Excellent video. I would love to see one on every ride in the park. Well done.
Thank you Dave for your awesome knowledge and historical facts on Disneyland's Matterhorn!!! I learned a few new things on the world famous attraction! This is the best Matterhorn video that I've seen ever!
Thank you Randy!
Great job, FB team! Loved it!!
Very informative, I didn't know a lot of these facts.
I've watched a number of your history videos. They're excellent! Well researched, edited, and narrated. I know this takes a lot of time and appreciate the amount of effort you put into it. Thank you and keep up the excellent work!
Love the yodeling in the background music.
Been waiting on this video. Since u hinted on twitter you were working on it. Fresh baked!!
That yodeler in the soundtrack's really working it.
this was uploaded on my birthday! the Matterhorn is on my absolute favorite attractions, thank you for this amazing video!
I'm glad they changed the seating in the cars. The last time i rode the matterhorn i was with my niece and sister-in-law, i definitely wasn't riding "tandem" with them!
LOVE IT!!!

Me too :)
I would just like to say how funny this is but also cool!
Great video, David! The Matterhorn is quickly becoming my favorite ride and I've been watching as much as I can find on it. Nice No Doubt reference! I realized once I had gotten off the ride where I'd heard that footage before. Love ya guys! Keep up the great work 💞
I just watched all your secrects in one sitting. Do more please!!!!
Awsome video
great video ! as always :) i hope you make more rides secrets and history!
we'll get them all eventually :)
I really enjoy these videos that are completely about history and secrets, keep them coming. And great work! I love fresh baked!
Thank you Tia. We'll be starting on our next one fairly soon I hope.
You guys should do more videos like this! They rock!
FRESH BAKED!
We will. Thank you!
that is awesome about the no doubt song. I always wondered what that was from
FRESHBAKED is DISNEYLAND!!
Wow. I actually learned some stuff from this. Thank you.
Great job on giving the history. I loved the old photos. I rode it in 1972 when the inside was "unfinished." I remember being surprised that the inside didn't look like a mountain, but seeing all the supporting structures and seeing all the other bobsleds whizzing around made it scary. I guess I rode in the original bobsled design. I like both the unfinished and the finished versions of the ride. It is truly one of a kind and definitely a Disney treasure.
I'm so exited! I'll be there tomorrow!!!
good timing. Rain has passed. Should be a great visit!
Inside of the original Matterhorn, I remember when being pulled up the hill you could see an old cement mixer, and a puddle of water at the bottom. Also, the ride use to have areas where it was designed to make extra noise. When a car would approach one of the breaking hills it would make the sound of chains shaking. I remember the hollow mountain being much more exciting. Thank you Fresh Backed Disney for a great video.
Loved that Yodeling at the end :)
Rough ride indeed . when it had two passenger cars.my wife sat in front of me. The sled whipped around the corner then up. My wife flew back in between legs . She just about killed me. Guys you know what I'm talking about. It almost ruined the day. My wife felt so bad. I recovered and we had a great day. After all its Disneyland the happiest place on earth.
i'm glad your testicles healed well.
Awesome video! Great job, Dave! :)
Thank you!
I am a new sub and have always loved Disneyland. Watching your videos has shown me secrets and history I never knew! I actually never heard about the basketball court in Matterhorn. Keep up the good work Fresh Baked, You all are awesome!
Love single rider line!
More Secrets and History please!
Great video!, I am a Walt Disney fan since I was a kid, I once read in a book that, while construction at Disneyland was in progress, Walt had an appointment with several important investors at the site, but at the time the meeting had to take place, nobody could find him, afterwards, they found him sharing a lunch with some surprised construction workers at the top of the yet unfinished Matherhorn.
Former cast member here... love your videos! I watched one last night and teared up because it made me miss WDW so much! :) Great job!
Love hearing from cast members! Current or former. Thank you for watching :)
Please make more "secrets and history" videos on disney park attractions. love them!!
Excellent, as always. Missing the Matterhorn in anticipation for May when it reopens!
I love matterhorn!
It would be fantastic if you did an updated version of all of these .Thx 🙏🏼
Growing up in Kentucky and going to college in South Carolina, I've only ever been to Disney World in Florida. I've seen so many videos of Disneyland on UA-cam and what I wouldn't give to visit it just one time!
Great videos!! They're full of so many interesting factoids and info :)
Thank you! And thanks for watching! Here's to hoping you can make it down to Disneyland some day.
I was so scared of the Yeti on both tracks I would cry every time I just saw the mountain. And I remember
Sitting with my dad on the two seated seats, I'm sad they changed that.
Great video about this really fun, (but yes hilariously rough), ride!
This is my favorite ride in the park!!!
nice29 dude34 same, now that tower of terror is closed
Love it guys. Everything involved with Fresh Baked is awesome, but Secrets and History are beyond my favorite. Well Done!! I Need MOAR!!! = ) haha
thank you! Moar coming!
Very well done! I really enjoy your History videos. -Adventure Dad
Thanks for the short documentary, I used to love the Matterhorn Bobsleds before the last refurbishment, now it's just a little too rough but still ok.
Ben Hodge It is a bit rocky, but I do still love me some Matterhorn.
Ben I agree with you. Not a fan of the new sleds
Persons on the skyway gondolas would also sometimes dump popcorn and other things onto the riders on the Matterhorn ride.
Very concise and informative. We first went there when I was 9. I got off the ride crying. In the turns toward the tight i was so compressed by my sister and Mom i couldn't breathe. It terrified me.
You don't get the name "Harold?" Harry is short for Harold, and I don't think anyone will argue that the Abominable Snowman is hairy.
y’all should do one of these videos on splash mountain !
Agreed
I remember being scared to death on the Matterhorn when I was a kid because they didn't have any seatbelts, rails or anything to hang on to!Those rockets that flew sky high in Tomorrow land were designed by crazy folks too because that ride didn't have any handrails or anything either.I haven't been there for 20 years cuz I live in Mississippi now but I hope other folks have something to hang on to now on these rides.
Great information :) :) I just learned something *PAW*
Hey vianna I love you channel can you do a update on drawing vids
Once again you hit it out of the park...lol. Great video!!
Thank you Eric!
Well at WDW there's expedition Everest that it like a bigger version of this
I still remember when they had one seat belt for each tandum seat and they would often let three kids cram onto one seat. This was in the original single sleds (f I recall correctly, they put the individual seat belts in when they did the major rehab where they added Harold and started putting two sleds together).
Incidentally, as someone who had an annual passport for years, the Tomorrowland side really is faster.
I didn't know about the single rider line! BOO! I could have went on twice!
Awesome video. You should do secrets and history on all the rides
oh we will...eventually.
I love disneyland resort in Anaheim California because love it so much it's closer for us
FreshBakedDisney You might know this already but in the Wells Expedition area, there's some rope that actually makes up a Hidden Mickey. Just wanted to let you know. ;)
0:27 I swear I can hear my mom calling my name
Lemonsqeeze hahahaha
I know a fun fact! My mom and grandma say that the Matterhorn used to be a slow ride with no Harold, I think sometime in the 70’s (I honestly don’t know) that is when it became faster, and added Harold!
Awesome video! I'm definitely going to look for the "Wells Expedition" equipment, next time I go. Your next video in this series should be about Pirates of the Carribean. :7)
