  • CEO of Linebooker, Naude Rademan, discloses that in some sectors the rail crisis at Transnet has led to a trebling in transporting of goods by road. This has had a severe impact on border posts, hubs like Richard’s Bay, ports generally and South Africa’s road infrastructure - with many red flags now being vigorously waved across the economy. Rademan spoke to BizNews editor Alec Hogg.

Just deal with Transnet and enjoy a mix if arrogance, ignorance and apathy.
This is without throwing criminality and corruption in to the mix.
When you try to assist them and get into the inner workings you realise just how out if their depth those "managing " things are.
If it wasn't so tragic and destructive it would be comical.

Sad to say it, the only way out is privatization. Unless govt has a 500billion _rond_ lying around.

The biggest takeaway of everything is that if tax payers can't sink a regime before a single presedential term is over, it's not a potent enough democracy.

Just imagine how much more profitable the mining companies would be. How much more their investors would earn, and how the country's trade and GDP would increase if TRANSET was fixed, and in a working condition. Imagine how many jobs might be created as companies can start afford to employ more people, as business grows.
VOTE the incompetent ANC government out.
If you're a mine owner, on the board of a mine, a shareholder or if you own mining shares on the JSE (or your pension fund does)... you owe it to yourself vote an incompetent government out and a more competent one in. A government that has the knowledge and drive to focus on fixing TRANSNET!
Now think of any other industry that depends on cheap, fast and reliable transport infrastructure to anywhere, but especially the ports for export (in dollars) - this includes farming, manufacturing, wholesale, etc. YOU NEED TO PUT PRESSURE ON GOVERNMENT (or get rid of them). It is in your own (and the country's) best interest.
