    I know most people hate the live action remakes, but Shere Khan was actually handled pretty well in the JB live action film. Elba did a great job playing him.

      Agreed, live action Jungle Book was an exception to the bad remake trope.

    This version of Shere Khan is by far one of Disney’s most dangerous and terrifying villains, especially in a Disney remake. He’s shown that he will harm anyone who gets in his way, especially as he almost killed Baloo, Bagheera, and the Wolves to get to Mowgli.

  • @speedracer2008

    Shere Khan is the perfect example of a trope, called The Dreaded. He is feared, even when he isn't on screen. His first scene ALONE establishes this. All the animals back away in fear at his appearance and even Akela, one of the few animals not easily intimidated by Shere Khan, is barely able to keep it together when he tells Mowgli to hide behind him, clearly concerned for what the tiger will do to him. In addition, later in the film, Baloo immediately freezes when Bagheera tells him that Shere Khan is after Mowgli, clearly aware of how dangerous Shere Khan is. That's the best part of Shere Khan. He can strike fear into anyone, just with the mention of his name. This fear is entirely justified, as Shere Khan shows that he is willing to harm anyone to get his claws on Mowgli.

    This must be the most powerful and most menacing version of the Tiger, This iteration of Khan took on the wolf pack, Baloo & Bagheerah without breaking a sweat. This Khan was more active durring his hunt for the Man-Cub and scared me when I was younger, the 1967 version & the original book Shere Khan Didn't have as many feats as the 2016 version.

    My favorite version of Shere khan

  • @prehistorichero2755

    This is my favorite version of Shere Khan, because since in the real-world, tigers were known to have sheer vengeance on those that get in their way, like how the Siberian Tiger ambushed and killed a poacher who injured him, Shere Khan’s behavior feels more unnatural as because of human interference with the ecosystem, such as the Red Flower, this turned this Bengal Tiger into a monster that would die from lack of following the law of the jungle. In the real world, animals became more aggressive and evil whenever an ecosystem is disrupted, such as an invasive species or habitat destruction.

    There's also the deleted song 'The Mighty Hunter's" from the original ending of the Jungle Book by Bill Peet which was a duet between him and Buldeo the hunter. Basically it would've featured the tiger and the hunter singing about just how much they hated each other and deeply wished t kill one another. And it also would've added some insight as to why Khan hates mankind so much, I mean.....WHO WOULDN'T when you're being hunted by a man like that? Agree?

    • @tiagoking1312
      @tiagoking1312 2 роки тому

      I personally consider Buldeo a kind of Captain Ahab in the original The Jungle Book. He hate and saugh to capture/ kill Shere Khan, and even had superstition ideas about him, just like Ahab was with Moby Dick. It's a pitty that in any movie or series (beside the Shanon anime) they didn't included that veteran indian hunter... At least, in the 2016 live action, while Mowgli was going to steal a torch of the Man Village, I saw briefly a old man seated near the big firepit, this man fallows the characteristiscs of Buldeo in the book (and also a bit of his deleted version of 1967). I bet that Buldeo exists in that live action universe and had some intrigues with Khan in the past. Another possible Buldeo also appeared briefly in the 2018 Warner Bros version, also near a firepit and talking about Khan with the hired european hunter Lookwood.

    • @jasonvazquez7061
      @jasonvazquez7061 2 роки тому

      @@tiagoking1312 The thing is, whenever I listen to that song, I always wonder....why does Buldeo want to kill Shere Khan so badly? I know that in the original book, it was mostly just so that he could claim the reward on the tiger's hide, but here, it seems to be FAR more personal. You got any idea as to why?

    • @tiagoking1312

      @@jasonvazquez7061 Well, tigers where considerad a problem in India in 1800's (epoch that the book and movies/series seems to pass), mainly the ones who attacked the cattle and even man, such Shere Khan himself. So, many farmers and hunters holded a kind of vendeta on them (even today it still ocour, but less than before). Shere Khan was considered a big problem around the Man Village in the book, in the movies/series universes, it is only implied. To complement the hate of Buldeo towards Khan, perhaps, at some point in the past, the lame tiger made, indirectly or directly, something that deeply hurted Buldeo, such killed one of his family. Who knows Khan killed Buldeo's wife, in the book universe, and that was the why that the hunter hates him so much.

    • @jasonvazquez7061
      @jasonvazquez7061 2 роки тому +1

      @@tiagoking1312 I remember reading in an old Disney children's book that the reason Shere Khan hates man so much is because a hunter once shot him. My theory is that Buldeo was the hunter who shot him in the leg crippling him for life and in turn, the tiger may have killed someone close to him like a wife or brother.

    • @tiagoking1312
      @tiagoking1312 2 роки тому

      @@jasonvazquez7061 Wait, Shere Khan in the disney universe don't is crippled, only in the original book (is also explained that Khan born with a crippled leg, so was not fault of man or a trap). So, that disney book that you readed was not official. Perhaps was whrited by an author and he just asked to disney patrocinate him.

    This Shere Khan is awesome. He seeks power and wants to be on top. His weakness is pride, his hate for humans, and his lust for power. Mowgli used that to his advantage in his battle with Shere Khan.

    Rudyard Kipling named this character after the Great Afghan Pashtun King of India Sher Shah Suri (because of him killing a tiger with his hands he was named Sher Shah). Because of British enmity towards Afghans he made it a villian character.
