In France, this version is the best deal from Tesla, 2k€ more than the Standard range and 9k€ less than Dual motor variant
How much is the 2-steater version? Is it available in LR RWD?
@danielmorosan The 7- seater is only available on the AWD-LR version. It costs €2.500 more.
I live in Germany and have had both AWD and RWD cars. For the MY I opted for the RWD because range is more important for me and it is dynamically more than enough.
I have the iconic picture with Millenium Falcon in front of the illuminated ski slopes in Hemsedal as wallpaper on my good old Thinkpad Yoga since 2015. I'll have to visit it one day.
Tesla Bjørn cult member?
I took the trip from Oslo harbour to Hemsedal in April 2023 with a 2022 MYLR.
According to Teslamate, Our car did it at an average of 168 Wh/km. This was with 2 adults, 2 kids, skis (inside the car) and luggage. Temperature was around 0 C.
Trip back to Oslo was 155 Wh/km, but that included preheating for charging at Gulsvik.
Just bought one!! Fantastic car👍
"You nailed the WLTP consumption! 👍 With that same efficiency, I could reach 464 km on my Model Y's 60 kWh battery, which is still a pretty decent range."
In Belgium, this LR RWD is 3000€ cheaper then the AWD, and 4000€ more expensive then the standard range.
We have snow ⛄️ in Umeå, Sweden. Winter conditions here. I hate trucks overtaking other trucks. Especially now in winter.
Good that sunday drivers can benefit from such a powerful car. 130 wH 😮.
@Bjorn The MER chargers are the Alpitronic HYC50 (50kW charger)
Also called Hypercharger Mini
Tesla 4 the win like always 👽
@Teslabjorn can’t see it later ok the video when actually driving but at 1:50 the side impact protection arm doesn’t appear in place. As a Cybex user for my own son I regularly almost miss this important step too. Glad to see the T2 works for you, I have the original Anoris and my son wouldn’t take to it so had to get another seat 🤦
It is impressive how low the temperature difference between the batteries is! Was 1 degree? The ioniq 5, a car that many dream of, had differences of almost 20 degrees Celsius!
In Denmark the price difference is 40.000 dkr, or 10%.
Same in Spain. Over 4000€ difference when I bought it.🤔
No, it's only 30k
Reasons for rwd.. lighter, more range, cheaper to buy and cheaper to insure. If you have snow, invest in snow tires.
In Norway they can simply afford both!
Nice views with some news
a pretty new SUC in hemsedal probly open in september
Before 2000 nearly no one in Norway had 4 wheel drive. Now all norwegians thinks its necessary. I simply dont get it. Before the cars was 1000 kg, now its 2250 kg and in daily commuting a rwd electric car on good wintertires is more than good enough and often better to drive from march to november on summertires.
Agree. The model S sold very well without AWD, and people loved the winter handling. Less weight and less parts to go wrong as well. But, for the $1000 dollars extra the AWD is a bargain... RWD version should have been $4-5K less..
SUV`s have higher ground clearance and safer to car`s battery. If you hit the battery somewhere and it damages some, you are maybe not allowed to drive it before you change "new" battery!
Wish it was available when I bought my Tesla, now I have to settle for LR AWD 😅
What about insurance costs. The dual motor is quite expensive in insurance in Denmark.
This. We first looked at dual motor model y and insurance was almost 2x as much as the model 3 rwd we ended up buying. Have no idea, but insurance on the dual motors is a lot at least with our insurance company.
Danish insurance companies really to step up their game. Its so stupid.
Insurance costs scale rapidly with horsepower in Denmark, so I believe the RWD should be better
Don’t really see the point with LR RWD in Norway, especially when the range difference is relatively small compared to the AWD.
Why save that tiny amount of money just to gain a few extra km of range, but get a car that is less fun to drive, slower, charges just as fast as the AWD, is worse on snow and ice (which we have quite a lot of), and is less desireable in the used car market when selling it.
With a higher price difference it would make more sence, like the new Model 3 (especially before the RWD LR was introduced - then it differed (and still do) 85.000,- NOK).
As long as the range of the LR AWD is as adequate as it is, I’d say saving the 10.000,- NOK to get the RWD is ridiculous.
May be different in other parts of the world with different needs and different prices, of course.
Hi Björn, nice test, I was wondering how you talked about the price difference for the longrange is only 10,000 NOK compared to the 4x4 version, and the price against the EU is only €39,000 even with towing equipment. Is it better to buy a new Tesla Y in Norway?
10:05 Alpitronic Hypercharger HYC 50 is my guess.
I wonder how much active battery heating really helps, now you can disable battery heating during dc charging in service menu…
LR RWD is great, but on EVs, there are many other benefits from two motors than just all-wheel drive.
I love how Isabel seems to be brought up as Tri-lingual, brilliant. I can only just speak English, not good !
Looked like the LSP wasn't activated on the child seat. Not enough clearance on the model Y?
other than not having a second drive motor, is there a definitive list of differences between the Y LR AWD and RWD? I have seen references to things like window shading, audio system and max charge speed and Tesla does not seem to provide a summary of feature differences between the two variants
For MY it's just front foglights. Model 3 differs on more items.
it's crazy how many different replies I have seen saying one random thing or another being different...any person said it was the cargo cover and someone else said it was matrix headlights while someone else said it was the HEPA filter. I went ahead and got the AWD rather than guess as to what is actually different. I did like the idea of the RWD being 10% or so more efficient but it's just nuts that can't see a definitive spec from Tesla. I know they change things all the time and I love that (especially when compared to traditional auto makers) but how hard is it to somewhere publish a spec
How was the drive compared to highland 3, seat comfort? Noisy, comfortable? Baby shark❤️ she reminds me of my daughter when she was her age . Really appreciate your videos.
I got both cars the highland is noticeable better, the suspension on the highland performance is incredible compared to the old versions :D
@@kenion2166I drove 2024 Tesla Y first, and I really liked the space inside, but the whole car was noisy at lower speed over potholes and in the end I didn't like it as much as I thought I will. After a few weeks I drove Model 3 2024 and I loved the way it drives, the sound insulation compared to Y was so much better, but I didn't do the final decision as I think it would be too small for me. Currently I drive a Touareg and I didn't have a saloon or a car so low to the ground for over ten years. I like the seats and comfort of the 3 and space of Y. That is why I am in a perception.
@@carlosorff Just wait for the Y refresh, should be released "soon"
Are you coming to the SuC opening in Bodø ?
When is the opening?
@@PierandCamilla I dont know. It seems to be finished construction. I live close to it
Does it have the torque dip as the standard range rwd?
I am curious how that CYBEX baby seat works ? is that pillow really as affective of holding child in place as a proper safety belts in an event of collision ?
Same. A head on collision would most likely throw the child forward causing damage to chest and head? What happens if you roll the car? Would a child even stay in the seat? Nah, I’m sticking to rear facing seats with annoying but safe should harnesses.
It has airbag.

@ but what about shoulder straps ?
@@bjornnyland I feel better knowing that.
Hey confused between Mercedes EqA or Tesla Y long range which one to go for?
Model Y
@@bjornnylandthank you any specific pointers as you had driven & analysed them both?
So what temperature is the best case for EVs?
25 to 30 degrees celsius
23~
35°C
Child seat without airbag? Well yes of course, because rear facing seat until 6-7 yo as those are safer than any forward facing seat - even one with airbag. Just ask Swedish PLUS testers 😁
If they tested the Cybex Anoris T range we could but they haven’t. It has scored better than almost any seat ever on the ADAC test which has both rear and forward facing within the sample.
Tesla pictures all trucks to Tesla semi?
❤❤❤
In denmark there is 40.000dkk difference between the two lr models
I bought a used Model 3 this summer, and I wonder why more people like the Model Y? It is more expensive, less efficient, and is slower than the Model 3.
More space
HEPA filter
Hatch opening
Ground clearance. Ease of entry.
I have both. Model 3 is more fun and efficient. Model y has more room, more practical and higher so easier to get in and out if you’re a bit older or just taller.
@@tim66612343 Trueee, I just test drive the 3 and man, hated the boot opening, I had squat to see the interior. Loved the Y, higher, amazing space, way better acoustics and no middle pillar.
A lot more efficient? The difference between AWD and RWD (LR) is only 35km. The 533km range is with 20" wheels. The 19" is 565km. I would take the AWD any day.
Agree.
Actually the standard range is quite fine. I drove my wifes 2024 this summer basically the same roads in Norway and it goes ~400 km (which takes time with the speed limits - so you are stopping also without charging).
My car is the model 3 LR awd. and it is a benefit in Denmark during winter.
What Bjørn forgets is it does actually snow in Denmark (and freezes most nights in the winter). The snow just melts again within the same day or shortly after.
In and around the larger cities in Norway they also salt the roads. So the difference Norway-Denmark is mostly in the country side.
Well, in the long run it's way more expensive to replace 4 tires every time. I live in Portugal, temperature is always good so RWD makes more sense.
@@olebermr The AWD is not permanent AWD . It is normally RWD and the front motor only licks in when needed for power. The front tires typically last a lot longer than the rear tires, so it is not true that you need to replace all four tires!
@@HansKruse I have a 23 LR AWD and thinking to change it for a RWD. I’m not liking the efficiency of my awd
@@YannCavalcante That does not make sense. The difference is rather small. I', driving all over Europe and have done 50.000km+ in one year and the LR AWD is very very good. It could be more comfortable with regards to the suspension but that is all. No other complaints.
tesla makes logical sense
But your heart needs to be in it too!
@@sargfowler9603You can have another car for heart purposes. Tesla for daily logical reasons.
@@stal5861 I can only afford one car!
Wrong 😂😂😂. Byd seal is the best 👍
Looks so cheap honestly😆😢
I notice how a lot of reviewers of Teslas are now saying the ride is awful and they're quite noisy.
The Highland has been a vast improvement, let's hope Juniper follows suit
@@sargfowler9603 it depends on what ppl. want, some ppl. absolute love rough and hard suspensions cause it makes sporty driving insane fun. Other ppl. prefer a boat with zero feedback. So Highland with adaptiv dampers is definitely the way to go
@@sargfowler9603 Most reviewers based their reviews on older Model Ys, newer ones 2023 onwards have incorporated various improvements to the suspension and noise isolation. Bjorn measured the decibels inside the cabin of a new Model Y and found it to be on par with the highland when previously it was much louder.
❤❤❤
