Considering where I would be using these kinds of speakers, I’d go for the sound core. I’m not spending $500. Bucks to have a speaker that’s at a pool, on a boat, at the lake, bouncing around in the back of a truck, etc. Sound Core at half the cost is what I’d do. Sound quality and volume is plenty for anything outdoors. And indoors for that matter.
I dig mine, man. I bought it the same day that it was released on the 29th to replace my Motion Boom Plus that was stolen from my house when it was burglarized on the 13th of April and it's a great upgrade.
23:16 ← this is where you really hear (in my opinion) how much more serious the little Bose is (unfortunately, it's also much more expensive...). It's the winner of the test for me. Not cheap (the most expensive of the three), but I think there's a reason for that. From a good quality source I think it sounds the most accurate (aptX vs. SBC / AAC ...)
Don’t do it. Watch the comparison video between the BoomPlus 2 & the W-KING X20 on Jay’s Straight Up Reviews. The X20 was 5 or actually closer to 6 db louder on the decibel meter & was much more cleaner & detailed with good stereo separation in comparison to the BoomPlus 2 which just had a muffled, almost dirty sound to it. I own an X20 & trust me when I tell you that for $224.99 you won’t find a speaker that plays as loud & sounds as good at volumes of 80-100% volume. It’s a beast.
I'd be curious to see testers/reviewers checking for frequenzy response of speakers like this. I'm actually more curious about Bose Soundlink Max, since it doesn't specify anywhere how deep it it's supposed to go, but it's definitely one of those things that sets portable speakers apart, imho. I don't care much about loudness, I care about if I'll miss out of part of a music track because the speaker can't produce the notes.
Same here! Back during the Bicentennial Epoch, to attain credibility and respect with the buds one had to know the specs of the audio, video & computer componentry otherwise be dissed as a poser instead of a power user which was quite prestigious!
A very good review. You touched on a lot of things and also placed the speaker in different environments as well as versus a few speakers. Very informative.
Thanks for the Discount Code! I already placed my ordered for full $250. Just cancelled and reordered with a 40 dollar discount. Thank you and great review!
The W-KING X20 is $224.99 right now on Amazon. It’s literally the same size as the BB3, is rated at 200 watts, & gets louder & performs better outdoors.
Ranking of overall sound: 1) Bose 2) JBL 3) SoundCore To my ears the SoundCore sounded the weakest when it came to the mids. Hence why it sounded the least clear, dare I say even muffled. Boxy too. I’m not sure if you fiddled with the customizable EQ yet. Because I’m sure that would add a little more clarity/fill in the sound a bit more
Bose max has better sound. Bass is more clean. Plenty loud enough. Boom 2 plus is just overall best bang for ur buck. Wont dissapoint. But the bose sound quality is on another level. If u can afford it the MAX is the best sound in my opinion. Quality over quantity.
One sounds good, but still overpriced. The other is priced somewhat reasonably, until you listen to it & compare it to other speakers. Can you put 2 & 2 together to figure out which ones I’m talking about?
Having left and right speakers sharing the same sealed space is surely not ideal and would cause problems with the sound being muddled and poor stereo separation
I just got the Bose Max while making this review. So it was just a last min add in. I needed more time with the Max. I have that now, and will be putting that longer term review together. Cheers
At the end of the day it all boils down to prices. With the minimal differences in terms of sound but with big difference with price, i go for souncore. JBL and Bose speaker are overhyped and overpriced by all means.
It is an absurd assertion that since they spend a lot of money on marketing their products are not good.Do you know how much Nike spends on marketing? Does that make their shoes crap? Two things can be true at the same time.Yes they spend a lot on marketing. Also true is their speaker are some of the best bang for the buck you can get.
Everything you sell EVER needs promo or people would never know when you released a product not having a promo is dumb. Soundcore is doing everything literally the right way.

Boom 2 plus for the overall win
Soundcore for the win! Bang per buck it's not even close. I'll take two and link them in stereo!

It would be good to see where all the peaks and dips are. It's not all just about the bass response
These are not audiophile grade speakers. They are made for casual listening. You are not going to get ever nuance out of your music
A very good review.
You touched on a lot of things and also placed the speaker in different environments as well as versus a few speakers.

Thanks !!!!

"who would listen to music blared out for 20 hrs".. Jesse's party scene from Breaking Bad
That jbl though....where is stormbox blast vs boom 2
That's what I'm waiting on

It is it’s really impressive
One sounds good, but still overpriced. The other is priced somewhat reasonably, until you listen to it & compare it to other speakers.

I love my Bose SL max. You get what you pay for.
Having left and right speakers sharing the same sealed space is surely not ideal and would cause problems with the sound being muddled and poor stereo separation
I'm waiting for this Speaker... But i think its still not here in our country
Where is the Bose max ? Why not the same test and no conclusion for him ?
I just got the Bose Max while making this review. So it was just a last min add in. I needed more time with the Max. I have that now, and will be putting that longer term review together. Cheers

Soundcore is a LOT less expensive.
Which has better bass Boom 2 plus or jbl extreme 4?
I have not heard the Extreme 4.
@@ScottsReviews how about the extreme 3 ?
I think bose is wonderfull work small but louder for boom plus 2 ı buy it
how many watts is the bose max?
Most people dont know it but it's 50 watts
Bose Soundlink Max FTW
Sonos move 2 or bose max pls ?
Bose Max ;)
Bose Winn small better sound
The soundcore sound is so mid based , its annoying
The money that Soundcore pours to bribe UA-cam reviewers could have been invested in producing better speakers that don't need promo
coulda used big oval woofer like the boom 2 and it would be dangerous
I own both the Bose max and soundcore boom 2. Boom 2 wins for the price and sound quality. Paying $400 after tax for the max just isn’t worth it.

Srry i have to say the Bass on the bb3 with dedicated sub is clean and deep.
If you have to choose between soundlink max and boom 2 plus. Which one would you pick in terms of sound? Not considering their price?
I'd choose Bose Max for Quality and better clarity sound ;)
too much face, more on the product instead
