I fucking love Black Star, it's amazing how for once the side character who wanted to become the strongest... actually becomes the strongest and eclipses the main character by a mile. And another thing that's great is that his whole self worth arc and rival fights are resolved halfway through the manga, so after that, the mangaka just goes HAM with him. Once he beats Mifune he's so far above the curve that he basically just becomes a force of nature, he keeps finding new ways of humiliating the opposition each time he shows up, he fodderizes main villains, witches feel his presence and go "oh shit it's Black Star let's fucking bolt", it gets to the point that SATAN HIMSELF is the only thing that really scales to him, and even Satan thinks he's so cool that he wants him as a homie. Truly, after that Mifune fight, the sky is the limit... that is, until Black Star randomly decides to WILL HIMSELF into being able to fly mid-fight (AND SUCCEEDS), after which there are no limits, the only reason we don't see Black Star get strong enough to punt the moon into another Solar System is because there weren't enough manga chapters left.
It's so fucking dumb and I love it.
Black Star is my absolute favorite for that exact reason. Motherfucker GRABBED LASERS, and just THREW THEM BACK. WTF!?!

Its fucking hilarious how OVERPOWERED he is, and he's played like a joke character until he actually fights. He's like Vash and Kenshin in a way like that. Two very overpowered characters who are clowns until its time to throw hands then they decide its time to be serious.

Ohkubo is a master of writing. Seeing that soul eater is a sequel to fire force, the power of doing anything he wants probably stems from Arthur's imagination amp.

Essentially, his back was broken or something but he begins using his muscles to hold his spine in place and force it to work as it normally would, because of course he could do it.

EDIT: chapter 111, technically 110-111, I think. His arm and spine are broken but through adrenaline, muscle, and sheer f&%king will, he kept going.

Black Star became my all time fave character as I read the manga. He was such a badass in the manga. Forgot to mention his durability, the dude stood up using pure muscle after Kishin shattered his back. When Ichigo got his back broken by Tesla he couldn't do shit and was crying then we have Goat Star getting up like nothing

I think that Black Star's toon force abilities like flying and grabbing lasers are a side effect of him embodying the Madness of Power when becoming a Warrior God because even Asura was stating that Black Star was reminding him of the Great Old One of Power and in the series we are shown how Madnesses can alter physics and defy the World's Natural Order like when Excalibur hit a pebble and its trajectory randomly changed due to the Madness of Fear's effect on the World
