Great progress. Been enjoying your partners channel as well. She’s answering a lot of questions I had about construction. You guys have wonderful content. Cheers🐺
It could be a good idea to start a living desert willow woven fence around areas you want to protect when you get to planting. The woven living fence provides some shade and evaporation control, is easily expanded, and provides some natural resources for the property. These resources would be useful for self sufficient and sustainable living.
@@GrowTreeOrganics If you're doing the method of propagating cuttings straight into the ground, using cactus or agave should help them root easier. When using cactus or agave, you strip the bark off of the las inch of the cuttings, and dip the ends in the flesh/ jelly before sticking them in the ground. Some might not root, so doubling them up in the pattern you want is suggested. It's best to leave a few leaves on the top and to begin weaving them immediately (within a few days) after planting. During growing they will graft together. With willow, I've seen it done even during their dormant season, so that may be a possibility with other trees you have.
Yea we'll definitely be doing a few methods of propagating, which I also want to have a set up for tissue culturing which will help with hard to clone plants and such!✌🏾
I like the multi level water harvesting. In my experience letting the soil reestablish it drainage helps prior to seeding. You’re lucky enough to have rock in abundance. Your property is awesome.
So is that structure going to be your residence? I think it is going to have some really great insulation with those rocks, adobe and wood. Very exciting indeed.
It's spring cleaning time in New Zealand. Ig you guys are moving into autumn now. Ty for clarifying the outline of ur plan foe us. Great videos. Walapini looking great keep it up fam👌
Have you considered the water usage/needs of the plants? Willows are phreatophytes, which will cycle relatively more water than some other species. Keep it in mind. Addition: the reason? To have a tree work against what you are trying to accomplish. You can fill in the rest.
Yep, definitely why we need more water catchment points as I noted! But definitely another thing to consider, the trees planted, water usage, and such. Why we'll be working with a lot of native , drought tolerant, and heat tolerant varieties!✌🏾
He’s talking about the desert willow… if I recall, it’s not a true willow… it is literally a native to az but it lives along washes and arroyos. They are relatively common in Phoenix. They don’t need much water. But, it’s good to plant around the roots of trees as the roots can contribute moisture to surrounding plants. As a general rule.
I am wondering about the native grasses and other flora for this area… I’m relatively close to you. I’d love to know some of the grass variety names. Maybe you could do a video about that. I just took over a place that has a lot of infrastructure… the previous owners kept the land clear… they did some good stuff but didn’t really know much. I took the property in July and there were a lot of diminutive weeds all over that I did not ID at all… too much to do. By the time I moved into the property, nearly the entire property was filled with huge tumbleweeds. I cleared many of them out… but am probably going to leave some over the winter… my temporary neighbor is moving to his own property and told me he hoped he didn’t get tumbleweeds…. I told him not to clear large swaths of land and gave him some poppy seeds. I showed him how all the grassy untouched natural areas had no tumbleweeds as he didn’t believe me. But, I heard it from a UA-camr and I can see the evidence of that truth. The tumbleweeds served a purpose though and I’m going to see about using them as berm bases possibly. But if anyone needs em for a western film set… hit me up. lol
Yea, I'll get more into the grasses come planting, which will be during the winter! It's only human labeling that puts nature in a negative light, especially when it comes to invasive plants and weeds!✌🏾
My older videos explain, visually the concept development. This is a totally a new idea on the earthship concept though. Over 8 years experience with all this!✌🏾
Beavers can be a blessing or a curse. A budding family took out a couple of huge cottonwood trees and several ornamental ones, then decided to build their lodge in my favorite underwater viewing area. They made some nice clothing.
if all 1 Floor´s would be under the earth it would save soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much energy ............ #HObbitHOuse ...

@GrowTreeOrganics where can we find her channel?
Is there a link somewhere that I missed?

We may do something similar with the juniper branches!✌🏾

Appreciate it. We definitely wanna correct the soil before planting high value crops!✌🏾
This place will be full of green grass year round in no time.
Indeed it will!😁✌🏾

I think they may be the few who will survive what is coming. 😂
well it's where we happen to need to be to operate the business here. But thank you very much!✌🏾
@@GrowTreeOrganics 👍
Note sure about the insulation, but that will be a huge thermal mass.
Definitely is!😅✌🏾
Love that you're taking the time to observe.
Observation is crucial!😅✌🏾

@OfftoShambala Thank you for informing this wetlander.
It's counterintuitive to think of a plant, any plant contributing moisture through its roots

@@GrowTreeOrganics You are right. I just started a marathon of your older videos, this building is incredible!
Awesome thanks for watching!✌🏾
UA-cam is really messing up a lot of vids by putting thumbnails in the middle for like what feels like 30 seconds lol wth is up with that?
No idea?✌🏾
Beavers!🥲🙏
No beavers here, unless you count us being the beavers, we are busy beavers so to say😅 ✌🏾💜🦫

Won't the pools be mosquito magnets?
We're in Arizona, it's too hot and dry. But we also have quite a diversity of insects, bats, and such that take care of those too!✌🏾
