I think they both have their strengths and weaknesses. I love the simplistic visuals of the original but I also quite like the improved animations in the redesigned cutscenes of the remake. Characters are a lot more expressive now. The new orchestral score from what I'm hearing sounds pretty nice. In terms of the environment, I actually prefer the original. Perhaps I'm just being nitpicky and biased but I just prefer the way it looks. Especially when you look at the hang gliding sequence and even more so with the land of the giants part. The use of fog/mist and god rays really adds to the atmosphere and gives off a more mysterious, ominous and unsettling vibe for me. It really fits the whole doom-and-gloom aspect of it. The washed-out colour of the original along with the melancholy vocals heard in the background adds to the bleakness as well. The new one still looks fine but it loses a lot of that subtlety in exchange for more detail and clarity it seems. I feel like with a lot of these remakes they often overlook these things which may seem trivial to many but it truly does make a difference in the kind of impact they can give to the players. But overall they both look great in their own ways.
The characters expressiveness didn't really benefit it though. They mostly just started to look like cartoon characters. All wobbly arms, it didn't sit right with me. But the environment was very beautiful I suppose.
@@Electivedrop Are you talking about the remake? Because its facial and body animations are certainly an improvement in that version. I don't see anything cartoony about their movements. Both games utilised motion capture but the remake just appears more natural to me and I think that has everything to do with the resources they had. They could have implemented the newer animations from the cutscenes with the original art style and I think it would have worked in its favour. But it's not necessary because I don't think the game needed this remake to begin with and the old animations still look fine to this day, even if they are somewhat basic in comparison.
@@niloticshadow yeah I personally think the characters in the remake have somewhat of a childish vibe over them, despite the animation being more smooth. Overall it didn't blend well.
@@Electivedrop By the end of the day it all comes down to whatever your preference is. I still don't see what's childish about it though. They both emphasise the use the use of body language since they don't speak any real dialect for the audience to understand. The remake hasn't exaggerated or simplified anything. It's just using a different set of animations similar to what was made before but with more attention to detail. Maybe its a different story with the other cutscenes but I haven't given them a look. I'm just basing my opinion on what I'm seeing here and so far it seems fine and remains true to the original.
@@niloticshadow the ending was actually changed slightly and I'm surprised noone has really mentioned it. Maybe I shouldn't reveal how it was changed, but it wasn't for the better. To me, the lower res of the original just makes it more charming, and frankly, I prefer the more vibrant color palette of the original, compared to the drab brown tint they gave the remake. I'm glad that a new group of players will enjoy the new version of the game though.
I like the remake! I'm going to play it today and I think the cinematic cutscenes are really gorgeous and the environment looks really nice too! The updated visuals are really stunning in the remake as well!
@@mohamedkaroui8753 I'm afraid I have to disagree. The realistic aesthetics go better with the doom-and-gloom. Although I would have preferred it if they kept the fog and god rays. But since they didn't remove the original everyone can play the version they prefer. That's how it should work for every remake/remaster.
same here. most pointless thing ive seen in gaming for a long time. i was confused when it got enounced. why not spend the efforts to make a sequel instead.
Old graphic was trash. No one will play this game except fans. And it was in old consoles. Now they remaked the game with better graphics and for new consoles. And got new players like me
@@garethsmith6611 My understanding is that it's being made by a different studio (Josef Fares is not the director either) so I suppose they sort of have to prove themselves a bit and prove the current appeal of the IP to get a sequel a decade later. And if you're making a bigger budget sequel, it's good to have a current version of the original game to match it.
Am loving the remake just as much as the original. It's been that long since i played the OG that i forgot what was in the game so it's like playing a whole new game for me. I do wish they had included something that references the fact that you have both games on your account like a loyalty bonus or something. Just a thanks would have been cool
The remake looks brilliant. Many reviews are saying it is poorly optimised unfortunately, so I'll wait until the developers fix it and for the next sale before buying. Shame to release broken.
I thought they'd make a Sony 1st party style action adventure game out of it, but it's literally a 1:1 remake of a 3 hour long game... I'm not interested.
Looks great but these graphics are still nothing special (by 2024's standards)... The PS4 could've handled this game for sure and the Pro model could probably go for a 4K/30fps output easily. I'm all for making titles that (FINALLY!) render the PS4 obsolete, but this is still not it. Publishing it only for the "Next Gen" hardware is a cheap and pathetic (considering there are slim-to-none, REAL "next-gen" titles to market) selling strategy.
Still baffled that this remake even exists. It's completely unnecessary, as the original masterpiece still holds up so darn well, with its unique art style. When this remake was first announced, I was so confused... just why?

just use reshade to modify the visual including color pallete, sharpness, etc

Remakes like this one males me happy to replay games. I get to replay the game with better visuals and have the nostalgia of the original game.
I love the cinematic cutscene from remake
Wait, are they moving a dead giant's arm... by pushing the arrow stuck in it? That's awesome and gross.
Play the original or the remake, doesn't matter. It's a fine game. Don't miss it.
The original is cartoonish and has fairytale aesthetics and the remake is realistic.
Indeed and the realistic does not much with the game style. I prefer the original, it's less dark and less painful for the eyes...

That was my feelings watching this video, I hope I can find some time to play the game, it's in my to play game list 😊
Both versions look great.
Don't think this game really needed a Rework tbh

Well, maybe it didn't "need" a remake, but I'm so glad that it did.
Seriously, it just looks so much better and the characters seem a lot more alive.
Now it looks like every other game.. the original game had a unique look to it. The new graphics made it lose its charm

The original terrain looks more adventurous.
it's color palette.
The old one has more atmosphere and fits the story far better. A little bit more details are ok but the remake went too far
In the remake they really needed to take a chill pill in some sections. It was just far too much stuff everywhere.
@@Electivedrop I am absolutely on your side
Truly remake. The difference is breathtaking
This game fucking kills me every single time
The remake looks brilliant. Many reviews are saying it is poorly optimised unfortunately, so I'll wait until the developers fix it and for the next sale before buying. Shame to release broken.
Interested to check this out. Never played it before
The original verison is extremely cheap.
One of the finest story games. Don't miss it.
Am I alone saying the original was far more stylistic and aesthetically pleasing?
Just finished the original one for the first time, without knowing there is a remake verion of it available. Wtf
Best Remake
The art style of original was way better, The gameplay only suit with that style. They should have stick to that In new release.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍❤❤❤❤❤❤

I believe higher resolution textures for the original would be enough, and they could make a BROTHERS A TALE OF TWO SONS II instead of this Remake.
How would they make a sequel with only ONE brother?? Wouldn't make sense to have a sequel
I am gonna live with my childhood again 😍
If you can get over your nostalgia (and I know that's hard) you will realize that the remake is definitely better in most aspects.
It just looks like a modded version of the original.
ur blind or just like to talk shit for no reason ?
nice
Just saved me some money. The original is way better. The colour tones are all off in the remake by the looks of things.
The most pointless remake of all time. No one asked for this yet we got it.
I feel like Until Dawn is way more useless
Remake is Oversharp!!! and darker!
I prefer the original!!
This game reminds me of the PC rpg “dungeon siege” that game should get a remaster I think. 😎
i dont like the new color tone
More like remastered 🤔
15 euro for grapichs only no thanks
The original is better and its music is more emotional. They changed the music of the remake, unfortunately I couldn't get emotional.
This is a remastered not remake
Sem necessidade

just read the steam reviews, big yikes. poorly optmised, low fps and game breaking bugs :(

Pointless remake.
Always wanted to play this game in diarrhea shitbrown. So excited to see this finally remade for the Xbox 360!
