Something that I love and truly appreciate about this podcast so much is the respect shown for the writers of the show. I feel like so many other shows glorify the actors while ignoring the writing staff! What made The OC so special was that you could tell how much care and attention to detail the writers put into each storyline. Loving this podcast more each week!
This line followed me as I became "parent" to a teenager. I told her this line and the profoundness made her break down sobbing. And I felt that OC moment flash in my face.
I love how this episode is longer than the latest ones! I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I could listen to these ladies and their guests for hours and hours
What Mindy said about people who watched it as kids that hated Julie and then as an adult realised she was right... that's me. Fave character hands down.
Season 1 of the OC was one of the best seasons of any show that I’ve ever seen. In some ways maybe it was ‘too good’ as they burned through so much storyline - it was like 3 seasons of storyline within 1. I liked all of the main characters.
@@davidkerr4117 I would probably go for Sandy (my favourite TV dad), although there was tough competition from Summer, Julie etc. I thought Seth was great in season 1, was annoying (too selfish and whiny) for much of seasons 2 and 3, and then was great again (there was real character development) in season 4 (which I think was underrated). Who was your favourite character?
i agree. listening to them talk about each episode i keep thinking "this was season 1??" or "that happened in the 5th episode??", etc... makes me wonder what they did for the rest of the show! 😂
@@monie802 definitely. By the end of episode 8, there had probably already been one season worth of storylines (or close to it). It must be very rare for any first season to have as many as 27 episodes.
@@laurayezagelian9042 agreed and maybe a few, slower / quieter episodes thrown in there, would also have been good for the show in the long run. Not every episode had to be 100 miles an hour with a very fast and furious storyline. For example looking at other shows that I was a big fan of, the Gilmore Girls and Scrubs, each season would have a few ‘low key’ episodes which would still be entertaining enough, but without a particularly major storyline advancement, allowing them to ‘pace themselves’.

How am I just finding this podcast?!? Iconic! The OC brings back so many good memories for me, early 2000s was such a special time. Thursday nights, 9pm, FOX. 🍊🤍 So good to see Rachel and Melinda, and all the familiar faces in these special guest appearances. Gonna ride this wave of nostalgia for as long as I can! A few days ago, I discovered Mischa and Rachel's Instagram accounts, and now I find out that this channel exists, so exciting! I'm a bit melancholic, I moved away from my hometown months ago and I haven't had the chance to make new friends, I live in the countryside. Now that I'm craving some company, The O.C. gives me back the comfort of another time, seeing the show again makes me feel somehow surrounded by friends. I'm going to watch all the videos on this channel one by one. Thank you :_
So cool to hear Stephanie talk about the genius and leadership of Josh Schwartz as the Showrunner and how he trusted the cast and writers to write their own influence into the show. You don't tend to hear that much on the set of a major TV show.
Great Podcast!!! All 3 of you ladies are so Beautiful!!! I didnt know that Rachel Bilson's Dad Danny Bilson created the 1990 The Flash tv show which makes it really funny and hot where she as Summer wore the Wonder Woman outfit for the Chrismukkah episode! lol
Stephanie is brilliant! So much behind the scenes knowledge, can't wait to watch the Gossip Girl reboot when it comes to the UK. I hope Stephanie comes back for an episode with Josh.
That's pretty crazy, the whole time watching this I was wondering how she already had such a high position and was able to write these stories at age 22-24. I guess she was actually in her 30's! She probably could have played one of the teens on the show.
Been rewatching the first series of The OC recently and nice to come across this podcast, nice to see its hosted by 2 popular cast members who can give behind the scenes stuff. Will follow these podcasts while rewatching. :)
❤❤❤🤗🎬🍊👏🎙Yes! Christmas episode! Hi Mindy, Happy happy day to you too!! I loved this episode!! Welcome the screenwriter Stephanie Savage on this podcast episode 13! It is so great for having her who talked about The OC...🎄 It's amazing and wonderful!! Thank you!!! Beautiful conversation you guys!💕😍😘
Yes you have to get Alan Dale on, for people who grew up in the UK in the 80s/90s he’s well known for being Jim Robinson in Neighbours the long running Australian soap! He had a heart attack and died in that too so when he had the same fate in The O.C. I thought it was ironic 😂 I loved watching The O.C. when it was first on and I’ve watched it more or less once a year since it finished ! I’m so glad it’s so popular now
I totally respect the writers here. I will say that they technically did not invent "Christmakkuh"; they only made it popular. It came from a Jewish family who one of the writers knew. As a Jewish person, I knew about Christmakkuh before the OC. Sorry to burst that bubble. That being said, the writers did an excellent job on this series.
Loved this episode especially the ending with Ryan’s stocking…so cute 🙂 Stephanie looks SOOOOO young and pretty and I enjoyed listening to what she had to say ♥️
Does anyone else notice the blue balls in front of Seth when he’s sitting on the couch with Summer and Anna when waiting to go to the party and then again when he’s laying on the couch after when he has the Seth Cohen starter packs? Hahaha coincidence? Wish I started this podcast sooner and could’ve called in for a fan question Rachel, Melinda, and Stephanie!
I'm just catching up on these episodes! Some of them seem to be missing. Does anyone know where I can watch the missing episodes? I know there were two with Adam Brody but they aren't on here anymore. Please help!! :) Thanks!
