I don’t care what anyone says about Mischa but she is the OC and made it what it is today! Yes Ryan was technically the main character but Marissa really took the main character role. Season 4 seemed so quiet and dull without Marissa. Mischa is an amazing actress that deserves the world. Sad world we live in that she received a disgusting amount of hate during her younger years just for entertaining the public😢

Ok, I never write comments but.. Watched the whole episode of the interview. What a beautiful and inspirational person you are, Mischa! As you said, life is a story and the best we can do is to accept it, own it and learn from every situation. Loosing the hope on the way is a dark part ot it. And how hard it is to actually Believe that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. In my eyes, your life trajectory is simply iconic. And I am happy to see that it is getting more and more recognized. Wishing you a plenty of happiness, stability, and health.

Season 4 was refreshing and fun after the dumpster fire mess that marrisa became. Other characters actaully had a chance to thrive and finally have fun with the script.

Little sad lol. I always thought they protected her like a little sister type of relationship. I mean they had so much chemistry it makes sense that was why… but Ben should not have gotten with someone who was under age. What’s up with that.
I agree completely, but sadly, I feel like it was so normalized back then that everyone thought it was no big deal and a lot of horrible things were allowed. Like a generational issue. Nowadays people realize how fucked up some things are, and they speak up and call out that behavior (thank God), but it was way different then. I am 33 years old, and I remember my own mother being fine (and pretty much encouraging it) with me dating guys a few years older than me (21, 22) when I was like 16/17 because it was also normalized in her youth, and 'they were more mature' and she felt I would be safer than with a kid my age, and I saw nothing wrong with that. Now I realize that I wasn't safe at all, and that a lot of things I experienced were wrong, but... It took me years to understand that. If I could talk to my younger self, I'd tell her to RUN, but it's hard to see the red flags when you're inexperienced, young and immature. ☹️

@@Winskl9010Why are you so unnecessarily rude to someone who’s just sharing their experience? Weird lol. Of course not everyone was okay with age gaps like these but it definitely wasn’t as big as a topic as it today. Many young actresses were dating older guys and it wasn’t pointed out as much as it is today when it happens.

@@rocketpit101Of course. Just in general there’s a lot more social backlash around these age gaps nowadays compared to 20 years ago. Never said it wasn’t a topic before, there’s just bigger awareness around the issue today.

This surprises me to be honest. They kept it a secret really well and I didn't think the onscreen chemistry was that obvious.
I saw chemistry from the first episode, and if you look at some of the promo stills or BTS videos, they looked like they completely adored each other.
Watching the OC for 3rd time and I think I love it even more now than before. And I loved it then! Such a good show!! Mischa you are and were so beautiful - inside and out. I wish you well.

I literally stopped watching after Marissa died.
She madeee the show and so sad they subjected her to so much scrutiny after the fact. She looks amazing now!
There’s a reason they only lasted 1 season after her being cut off. And I don’t think like some people that her character couldn’t have a good ending. She was playing a 18 years old girl, a screw up one, we know. But we also know that so many teenagers have problems and then overcome them. Look at Brooke Davis, started as a screw up( less than Marissa, I know) but became a fan favourite, and a well developed character. If it was to end they should have let her come back and do the time jump when we could see her better and happy
I love Sophia bush development in her character over the season so much growth and I thought her and Peyton was BFF it seems Brooke and Haley was
You can tell she's done some good therapy.
You can just tell when someone has gone through therapy and is genuinely healing.
Now it's more clear why she left, Marissa was my favorite character and Mischa is a great actress, I wish her the best. The only one thing she can be blamed is the choice to let Marissa die, she could have come back just for the last episode of the fourth season. Marissa deserved better.

I am NOT The OC's target audience. There were 100s of other similar shows that I had absolutely zero interest in. HOWEVER, The OC caught me, and hearing this, I think I know why.
I think it was more of an ordeal for the people involved, it was real and it was art.

I liked her character the best, I actually liked season 3 when she went to another high school. I liked her new friends there. Seth and Rachel weren’t doing much that season. I wish Marissa could have had a happy ending!

In my teens the oc was my religion but why does it sound like she is blaming everyone. She should blame her parents for agreeing for her to act at this age if it broke her so much?
I've always thought of Ryan and Marissa as the teenage version of Jax and Tara from Sons of Anarchy.
In the first half of the first season the guy who played Ryan would look stupidly in love whenever she looked at Marissa and he wasn't really that good of an actor, so I knew it was real lol.
Wait she and Ben actually dated? I could kind of sense it back then just because they had such amazing chemistry. Although knowing now she was only 17 and Ben was 25 when they did is crazy! Let alone completely illegal. 🫢 I’m so happy to see she’s doing a lot better now. I’ll always be a fan of her. We share the same birthday. The OC wasn’t the same when she left and the writers constantly did Marissa dirty. She deserved better. 💗

16 is too young to be a breakout star. Speak to reality in this case. Mischa (and her enormous popularity) became responsible for hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of pay cheques, ratings, advertisements etc. It's just too young and clearly affected her terribly. I actually think she's always seemed like a genuine Indie-style cool girl.
