  • I never get tired of feeding this rabbit. Whenever he's in the yard and I come down our steps, he (or she) will run over to see if I've brought any food for him. This morning, I sat on the steps while he ate some bread a few inches away from me. Check out his ears - one is turned towards me so he can be ready to run if he sees or hears me moving while the other ear is turned towards the yard to detect any potential threats from that direction. Wish my ears could move around like that!

Excellent video, James! I can one hundred percent relate. I do the same thing, and have been for months now! I can now hand feed them, pet them and lie down with them. I had the unforgettable experience of having my favourite, Jaxie, breastfeed her babies right in front of me! I sat motionless in tears as I watched. I'll never forget it and we'll be pals forever. It's really rewarding to give these cute little critters a vacation from stress. I find they do the same for me too. Keep up your great work and say hi to your little pal(s) for me. Sub'd. 🙂

Thanks for your comment. Your connection to your wild rabbits is awesome and I love the fact that you've been able to pet them and lie down with them! Being a part of nature up close and personal like that is a special gift that not many people experience - and it definitely helps relieve stress. Glad you got the chance to experience it. I'm still working on getting my "pet" rabbit comfortable enough with me so that, one day, I can give her head a rub.

@@JamesBiggs-Kayaker Have you ever tried lying down during your feeding sessions? I found this really helped a lot, and gives your pal a better eye to eye view with you and I think they feel less in danger when you're down low. My Jaxie eats literally a foot from my face and sometimes she'll just stare away at my ugly mug for a long time. Once, I saw her let out a huge yawn - it was amazing, I could see all her teeth and the close up view was great. I just think that spending time with them repeatedly is the best thing. I've been with mine now for about 8 months or so. How long has your pal known you? Do they have a name? 🙂

P.S. I had to log in here to tell you (you're the first I've told - it just happened)...try lying down. I was just rewarded by doing so with a kiss on the nose! lol. Amazing! 🙂

Hi there. This is cottontail rabbit which are very common in our area. Hares are larger than rabbits and have longer ears and hind legs. Hope that helps.
