Ruthiel's story has come to an end, acting as a warning of the dangers the other prisoners are in for. His devotion to his god proves meaningless in the face of time, something that he got to experience far too soon. Very cool prologue to the dungeon
Yeah, Ruhiel's story took a cool turn I did not foresee coming. Always enjoyable to see that kind of thing happen. Appreciate your kind words and summary, friend.
Haha, nailed it! It is a very specific way to play, but more importantly, it is just *one* way, there are like an unlimited number of ways to enjoy these games, you can build your system and pick which tools to use (similar to playing with legos or programming).
Great work as always Quantum, i'm a great fan of your videos. Just one question: in one room (ruin site type) i've found a Solo Monster (Mighty Ambusher). Following Shadowdark rules, how can I decide which one to pick?
Hey, thanks for the kind words Coraz0n :) My answer: I would roll further to figure out what the Mighty Ambusher is. Options within the Shadowdark rules would be to roll on the Ruins encounters (pg. 172) and go with the first thing that works or roll up your own Ambusher using the Monster gen tool (pg. 190). Or you could roll an oracle prompt and use it to interpret what you think it is. If one way sounds better, go with it! If youre not sure which way, you can always roll off to determine which option. Hope this helps!
The sound quality is a bit better this time around. I think the music could be dropped down just a bit lower to hear you better since you then to speak quietly. You PC got lucky as gas really wanted to do him in! A minor nitpick on the age since he is an elf who are long lived, maybe the aging was equivalent to 400 or 4000 years instead of 40 years, whatever you feel gets an elf to venerable age. What's the oracle die you were using to help you determine outcomes? I think it was blue or green? Thanks for sharing this.
Hey Vintoks :) thanks I appreciate the feedback on the sound quality. I agree that the music was a bit too loud, will tone it down in future videos (and remember to edit with headphones!). Good catch on Ruhiel being an elf, I was thinking in terms of human aging. I am officially retconning after the fact to something closer to whatever the equivalent age increase is in elf years (looking up age in OSE, "nigh immortal" is the closest I saw to an age range, so we can say 4000 years in this case). The blue oracle die I'm using is called the "Fate Mill" die from Towerhouse Creative. I have a link to their etsy store page in the video description above. Its a bit pricy, but imo worth it.
@@Martinkasmer hey Martin :) check out The Librarians Apprentice and also Notorious. I’m planning on doing a video soon on journaling RPGs that includes TYOV.
I'd be interested in that as well! Just discovering solo RPG and I'm curious about journaling solo RPG, wondering if there is a way to mix in classic solo RPG and journaling RPG.. 🤔

Ryan, can you suggest some journaling solo RPGs? I have TYOV and I want to know more of those.
