@@Whit3Br3ad Oh yeah don't get me wrong I love Scarlet and Violet. But they definitely took some steps backwards, like I miss the catching mechanics from PLA, and the ride Pokemon handled better in PLA too. And the online gameplay for Scarlet and Violet is still kind of a mess.
Same for me as well. I remember being so fed up with the village theme after 80 hours of playing it. Now when I hear that song it's weirdly super nostalgic for me.
It's weird, we were all dunking on Arceus when it came out, but now that Scarlet/Violet is out, I think Arceus is the better game in a lot of ways. It runs better, looks better, the way Pokemon are leveled around the open world feels more cohesive, better character customization options, and the way catching works without having to battle is hard to go back from. I do think that Scarlet/Violet have a better overall story (not a high priority for most people, I know) and better character design for the NPCs, as well as being more colorful and diverse in terms of world design and new Pokemon. But it's interesting contrasting the two games and seeing what each one does well/poorly.
Honestly I think the biggest weakness of Arceus is it's pokemon selection. If it had more interesting pokemon in it I'd probably still be playing it to this day.
I love Arceus story, when you get kicked out of the village and the main character had to call in favor from friends he met along the way was pretty intense.
yeah i love how ray is laughing at the pan shot and how bad it was and then i think about scar/viol and how much worse it was. what a difference a year of hindsight makes.
@@notscorchingsands9718 It was never confirmed he died from that, though. The games have sort of hinted that he went into hiding out of shame, not that he committed suicide.
Great job again, Light! Couple things: Ray's Pokemon voices sent me to the moon and has anyone counted how many Pokeballs Ray just threw away? Such a good playthrough!
Light is so damn funny! Great work! Loved the playthrough, you made a so-so game into a fantastic game. If only game freak took longer to make it... still, Ray manages to bring out the best in the worst games ❤️
After sitting on it for a year, and dealing with whatever the hell Scarlet and Violet was, aside from the crap render distance and framerate issues, PLA was actually a pretty great game. I may go back and replay it from the beginning.
This game was/is incredibly fun. Despite the performance issues due to the Switch being a potato, the game gave me hundreds of hours of entertainment. I can't wait till they make another Legends game, or I hope they do.
Hey Ray if it makes you feel less old I flunked out of college before you began your time with RT (referring to chat bullying Ray at 1:20:20 or so :P )
Yes remember no one dies in Pokemon except raticate lavender town marowak the 10ft dude from X&Y's flabebe everyone when yvetal is awakened wow actually thinking about it Pokemon has a higher killcount than than irl current population
I hope that the next Pokémon game is another one like this. It was so good and there are some small issues that they could make better. And maybe they could actually make it look better than this one (major copium I know)
the game-i imagine it has some lovely meaning. ray-it doesnt its just my dads name. the cambridge dictionary-a narrow beam of light, heat, etc. travelling in a straight line from its place of origin: A ray of sunshine shone through a gap in the clouds. Light rays bend as they pass from air to water.
Some day, I don't know when, but some day there's going to be a Pokemon game with current gen graphics that runs at more than 5 FPS, and I might actually play it. Maybe. It's kinda hard to think that Pokemon Stadium 1 has better visuals overall than Legends Arceus or Scarlet and Violet. And yet Stadium 1 didn't have all the jank animations to it. What happened? How does an N64 game run smoother than a Switch game?
This game honestly makes no sense, you can catch the legendaries, but then you can catch them again in Diamond/Pearl. They tried to make a connection with the ancestors, but I think they just stopped there
4:14 "No one ever dies in Pokémon, relax."
*10 Months Later.*
"I hope there's a flamingo in gen 9".
Rays dad definitely works for Nintendo. CONFIRMED
Man this feels weirdly nostalgic. It's only been a year.
Same. I keep teetering back and forth on replaying it 😅
Probably because this game is kinda better than Scarlet and Violet
@@matthewcloyd8413 had a lot of fun in S/V but I had a lot more fun in PLA

That clip of ray wondering who's ageroed and he turns the camera and sees psyduck coming at him was hilarious to me.
Damn, this is a big comp, big applaud to light for having to suffer through ray's stream
Didn't even notice it was 2 hours holy hell
Thanks, I really enjoyed it!
I hope they do more games like this, this gameplay loop is the most addicting imo

New pokemon game worse than old pokemon game, in other news water is wet.

My complaint with Sc/Vi is that it's a "1 Step Forward, 3 Steps Back" deal.

1:17:42 This entire playthrough is full of great laughs but this bit with the shellos laughing at his failed throw never fails to crack me up 😂
Love the little clips of Light editing. Makes me laugh every time
Thank you!
@@GameBoiLight Appreciate all of your hard work sir!
Man, I love that Oshawott sitting in Arceus's lap... The artist is amazing.
Thank you! ❤
Ray: dude, no one ever dies in pokemon. Relax
S/V: are you sure about that?
Giovanni jumped into water

Mallow's mom died.
So did Stoutland.
Plus in the games, a guy died in a car accident
SM has the highest kill count
38:00 alpha buizel wrecking ray with a hyper beam is wild XD.
Just wanted to say that the timing for the captions keeps getting better, thank you on behalf of everyone who uses them
2 hour highlight of a fun ass game? Great start to a Friday!
Edit: That prediction at 2:10:31 though!
I just noticed that at 32:09 in the reflection of the water you can see the wireframe of the ground's model.
29:31 What a fantastic edit
Thank you!
it's even funnier because the subtitles say "Persona music" LMAO
Can't believe it's been a year since DADDY69 played this. Such good streams smile
2 hour long highlight? Thank you Light for this gift!!!
Thank you for watching!
I loved this playthrough so much. It literally made me buy the game he looked like he had so much fun. No regrets
Ray aggressively verbally shitting on himself is top-tier content.
POG thank you light for the big edit + glasses for the captions!!!!!!
You’re welcome! It’s Jamie that does captions!
@@GameBoiLighti am a fool!!!! thank u jamie

Thank you!!
great timing and even better work light, i just fired up these streams yesterday to watch them for the first time :)
Enjoy! They’re a hoot!
2 hours of good ray content. sweet.
I couldnt be more happy to see an upload
This video was peak, I wish i saw it sooner lol good job ray, and excellent editing!
That Floatzel at 38:10 deserves an award for comedic timing lmao
hearing ray call cyndiquil store brand charmander gets me every time.
Have not enjoyed a Pokémon game as much as I did legends arceus in a long time. Ecstatic to see such a long highlight reel from ray.
I like how Ray struggled with the large Buizel, but I immediately found an alpha that was over four feet.
this edit is great love all the little things added in.
Thank you!
2:10:30 He called it for Flamigo
God I wish I could experience this game for the first time again
Monster comp. Can't wait to watch it while I do homework!
Pokemon highlights are always the greatest. Second to Yakuza obviously
big comp, well needed though, honestly a good breathe of fresh air in the pokemon games
This was a great comp
Thank you!
I'm surprised 3 hours of this comp wasn't trying to find the buizel
If I remembered correctly, one of the first Buizels Ray caught was a 2'8 one but he released it. Making the whole hunt that much funnier.
NO WAY! Now I have to go back and laugh at it.
2:10:27 flamigo!!
Legends Arceus Highlight? You mean tall buizel hunting simulator
29:30 absolutely love the JoJo's reference. Keep it up.
Damnit, now I want to play arceus again.
You should it’s a great game.
3:35 , not even 5 mins in LMAO, Light you're amazing

14:30 same thing happens in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon. Honestly kinda prefer it this way, way less tedious xD

Saw Ray picked French and then woundered why I can now read french
2:13:20 LET'S GO
2:10:32 He's Cracked!
1:08:00 Turns out, everyone.
29:30 "Persona music" on the roundabout joke in the cc
That Taco Bell skit made me f*cking snort 😂😂
God makes me wanna play Arceus again what a great game. Looks like ass sure but *man* is it fun.
That's basically the Pokémon motto at this point. Looks like shit but man is it some fun shit.
I can agree on ray when he said the wsseal quest was hard 😂😂😂😂
Is there a highlight video for scarlet/violet?
2 hours 14 minutes!??? Let’s goooooo!
2:05:30
25min in getting fat Buizel side quest. I wonder at what timestamp will Ray get that big Buizel.
I feel like the only one who didn't have a problem with buizel

This game got me so excited for Pokémon scarlet. The art style in this game was so much better than what we got
