I love the talking dog . . . As well😂. She thinks you’re talking to her and she is responding. It’s like talking on the phone-baffling to the dog, who thinks she should respond.
Such a nice job of demonstrating constructive techniques, rather than just one specific painting. It's like the saying ... of teaching a man how to fish, rather than giving one catch. Thank you.
That is a wonderful painting! I'm just getting back to pastels after about 30 year (!) hiatus. You are a fabulous teacher, clear and very inspiring and of course your paintings are just gorgeous! Thanks soooo much!
This is fantastic.. I was eager to watch the middle part- (I am a silver level Patreon member), and looked all through the September 22 posts but couldn't locate it. I read through all the comments here also hoping to see a reference...still didn't find one. Hate to bother you..can you post a link to where to find the missing middle of this great tutorial? Thanks Karen!
I'm a brand new at pastels and learning so much from your videos!! I have experience with other mediums but pastels fascinate me and I want to combine my watercolors as underpainting with soft pastel. Thank you for your tutorials! I wish I had known about your classes when I lived in Atlanta!
Karen, your videos are absolutely fabulous! You have that rare combination of amazing talent AND outstanding teaching technique. Thank you so much for sharing your work and methods with us.
I'm always fascinated by the way you make it look so easy, yet the results are always so full of great stuff. Looking at this painting, I've realised how much depth you create, so maybe I will be trying to emulate that!
maybe I can't see your original picture very well but that yellow space appears as a lighter value to me than the sky.....I do struggle at times w values however and seeing them the same as others. Learning a great deal from your lessons- TY
The buildings 👍 and go thebattenyion drawn from the sky t o trees and what to do about fussiness. Beautiful work 🤗❤ thank you for the videos you upload they help 🤗🤗
Thats wanderful love that underpainting painting...And I said that because some of your underpainting are really beautiful painting...would you consider one of this days to make just a a show with UNDERPAINTINGS...gRACIAS...
Hi Karen, Thanks for the video, its very interesting for me to watch your process but when you skip all the intermediate marks, I'm too new to understand how you get from the underpainting to the finishing marks....I guess I really need a step-by-step without skipping anything....I hope I can find some videos where I can paint along so I can learn from you, but maybe you only do that in your workshops
Is it possible to achieve these results with round pastels? I understand you use Terry Ludwig pastels which are square shaped . I wonder if I am just spinning my wheels using round pastels to get these kind of results.

How can you spray the workable fixative and stay in the same room? The fixative I have is so toxic I have to spray it outside and wait for it to dry.

Wonderful.. just lived it! Do you use any fixative over the finished work for preservation? & which brand?
Thanks for watching! I don't use a final fixative at all!

Most of the time I do but I will use softer pastels with a very light touch.

Sorry for the delay in responding! I use Blair very low odor workable fixative.

I am using Uart sanded paper for this painting.

Workable fixative?
I use Blair very low odor workable fixative
@@KarenMargulis Blick Friday tells me they no longer make it! What now please?
Do you ever use pastel pencils?
No I have them but only use them to lay out the painting. I use hard pastels such as Nupastels for fine details if needed,
@@KarenMargulis I have a good set...I want to try them out too. Maybe fine detail.
