James, you have one of if not the best recreational aviation channels on the Tube. It's obvious that you and your family are tied to the sky like many of us. Hope you keep posting videos for a long time to come. i will likely never make it to your part of the country so your videos are the next best thing to being there.
Nice video! I live in the foothills of the Sierras a hundred miles south of your location. As tempting as it is I don't fly into these zero-options areas, especially in the winter. Each of us has different risk tolerances and I'm glad yours is higher than mine! Thanks for posting.
Thank you James! I usually only fly the mountains like that when they are on fire, yours is a much better perspective! Beautiful plane, nice flight. Happy New year!
I'm almost afraid to watch your videos. My father flew an Ercoupe across the Hawaiian islands when he was in the Navy durring the Korean war. I've flown sailplanes and paragliders, and your adventures with your plane strike a deep cord. Keep up the facinating work.
Happy New Year, James, Diane, Charles and the rest of your family, from the UK! You are blessed with such wonderful scenery compared to what we have in North Manchester.
Wonderful scenery yes. Have Your friend James do the same filming above your Scottish Highlands. I was privileged to be driven through them. Wonderful enough from the road. From the air? Stunning l imagine. Cheers from Sacramento.
Very nice. I saw you have been up there on radar24, I figured you were working on a new vid. Unfortunately we have been IFR for most two months solid ! Still hoping for a good day. In meantime, working on another of your incredible 3D printed models. Just unbelievable the detail you are producing. I hope people are noticing.
Another great video, James! At 2:53 you can see the ladders/stairs used to access the fire tower! Imagine hauling groceries and equipment up there! BTW I respectfully disagree with another commenter who dislikes the music. I think the music accentuates the grandeur of the scenery and generally adds a lot to the video. That said, your videos are works of art of your creation and you should produce them however you wish!
Well thank you! I read up on the fire lookup, I should have added some narration on it. I think this one was installed in the 50's, using a helicopter. But the earlier incarnations were all hauled up by muscle. I will try and find a link to that source.
Morning James, from Sunny Rosamond. Beautiful views, specially the Yellow tennies...the rudder pedals look like the pedals in my 1960 Bug Eye Sprite !!!, maybe a little more room, but not much... i don't think those fire watch and antenna complexes are manned during winter, are they ? Looks like you had reasonably smooth air but that's pretty high up for the Ercoupe. All in All, a wonderful video. Thanks for posting, Great views with my morning coffee ! All the Best, Ron
Thanks, Ron! The fire watch is definitely not manned. That would definitely be something to be up there in a winter storm! And those antennas don't require full time presence, I would think.
At 2:52 what is this structure? Fire tower? TV repeater? Something for Beale? And just a suggestion. If you wear sunglasses, it will help your vision in later life.
@JamesGood I got my sunburnt a little at an air show a number of years ago after not wearing sunglasses. Once they stopped stinging a few days later, I noticed that I saw more "floaters" that wouldn't go away (which are dead or damaged cells). UV blocking sunglasses will definitely help long term eye health just as sunscreen helps skin health 👍
It was a factory kit. You pull the cables off the mixer (still installed in mine), and install the rudder bar, connect the cables to that instead. 1 hour job to install, apparently. My Ercoupe came with it installed, and I like them, so kept them.
Haven't been in an ercoupe yet, it seems to me you might have to sort of lean your legs for the rudder pedals? Is that an illusion? I find your choice of background music excellent!
@@JamesGoodRather agree with this critique but l am beyond impressed with the video. One more critique, constructive if you think your viewers would like it, more captions naming places and stating elevations. Cheers.

Thank you for the lovely comment, much appreciated.
James! I find your scenic flights amazing! Thank you!
Thanks! It's fun to share them!

Thanks, James. I needed that.

Thank you! What do you fly? HNY to you as well.
Glorious winter scenery 🙂
Fly safe.
Happy New Year James! Beautiful flight!
Oh! James, you've done it again... Great video... fly safe
Great day for a flight!!! Thanks again, James!

Would be great to have 805 out in Hawaii sometime. Thanks for sharing!

Happy new year, Mike!

Yes, it’s a fire lookout tower. Completely iced up!
I hadn't heard that sunglasses will help your eyes later in life. I will research, thanks.

Turn co-ordinator not working?
Correct, it died some time ago. I just use that instrument for the slip indicator now. I will put an INOP sticker on it.
@JamesGood Earnest Gann movie "island in the Sky" with John Wayne was filmed in the winter Sierra Nevadas. It's streaming on Pluto
Thanks, will look for that!
Camera work is nice, stable and good video... what are you using?
Thank you! It's an iPhone 16 Pro.
Nice video, thanks !!!
Hey James, I thought the Ercoupe didn't have rudder pedals???👈🤔 🇨🇦

Yes, I think it's an illusion. It's all quite naturally placed in reality. I'm 6' tall, and it doesn't feel cramped.
The music is super annoying. Great flight video though.
Repetitive nature of background music becomes irritating very quickly … much prefer your narration … love your videos though …😀
Noted, thank you for the feedback!
