Joe once said in an interview about this song, never write a solo sitting down, because you may not be able play it standing up. That's why he is sitting on a stool for it. Wise advice from a master.
I know .. Have composed some solos when sitting down that (at least) I think was good... But pretty damn hard to play standing up.. !! So wise word for sure..!! 😃👍
Greatest solo I've heard in a long time. Not only is it insanely fast, but unlike other shredders and non-shredders' solos who just go for speed, it has great melody and sound!
Besides being a phenomenal player technically, Joe is a masterful composer with outstanding melody. He can play fast, slow and sound great..the man is a genius..seen him live 3 times with front row seat one time.
Same here man but he's had years of practice and was professionally taught for a while so simpletons like us are pale in comparison nobody can play like satch except for satch ;)
For those wondering why he sits and plays during the solo - he wrote and practiced the solo while sitting down, and he can't play it standing up now. He admitted that he shouldn't have wrote it that way.
This was always my favorite song on the album. The simplicity of the main riff followed by the unbelievable, textual, liquid solo always blew my mind. Seeing it just confirms my belief!
amazing. I always wanted to see a live performance of this song and always wondered why they never did it live. This is the only instance I've seen Satch have to sit in an almost classical guitar position to tackle a solo. He played it pretty much note-for-note as it is on the album. KILLER song. thanks for posting.
people don’t realize his songs are songs. no words, but a bigginihg middle and an end and the songs are in our heads. Love this dude. Thank U Joe!! one OG to another OG! ❤
I’ve seen Joe three times. When he follows Steve Vai’s playing and then casually destroys the fretboard like it’s a walk in the park, incredible is an understatement.
Thanks for being a great friend to me and I really appreciate your support 💓 and I will always make you feel great 💖 kindly drop your Joesatriana8@gmail.com@gmail.com
I've been around his music since i was in the womb thanks to my mum and dad. Yes they went to his show while my mum was pregnant with me :P And yeh, I know what you mean. For me, at least, it's like family in a weird way
Surely the best live version I've ever listened to of Crushing day. Ironically it sounds so much better, the solo line so much sharper and not fuzzy and digressing, as the live versions I own on G3 live albums...:-( This live supporting band is amazing, I hope he invites them again. They are spot on. JS is the master.
Saw them perform live @ the Bronco Bowl. He threw out pics to the crowd. Never seen anything like it, still have over 200 songs spread across the CD's. Talent beyond belief, none of his music will ever hit my Ipod or Droid phone, this dude and his band deserve that! And I will never ever steal his songs, copyrights he has earned. I feel guilty even sharing these videos~
It's the DVD that came with the Professor satchafunkilus CD, which contains: The making of Professor Satchafunkilus... Surfing with the alien (live) Ice 9 (live) Crushing day (live) Behind the scenes in LA & SF The opproximate running time is 40 minutes.
when satch plays standing up,he plays the song and adds stuff to it like bends or whammy bar.when he sits down,he's playing it technically.which means that he feels like he does in the studio sitting down.
I fucking LOVE this song!!!! It is so amazing that he can still play those lead lines so well and he is in his 50's. I hope he and guys like Vai can play well for as long as they desire to.
Dave LaRue on bass, enough said. I’ve seen him with Joe, Petrucci, Morse, the Dreggs, Travis Larson, opening for the Aristocrats, and solo in small clubs, simply the best. His Jaco covers are phenomenal. And Bach, why not.
when i was child.. joe and steve, those were the artists i listened :) still a dream to play my brothers songs. these two Joe and steve are my inspiration. i truly hope to finnish those tunes some day :) Eli, Joe ja Steve on ollu mun koneessa jo ihan lapsena, kuuntelin näitä veljen kanssa. toivon että jonain päivänä mulla on vielä varaa omaan kitaraan ja saan tehtyä edesmenneen veljeni biisit..
i just love how when that amazing solo at the end comes on they dont show him playing even half of it. besides that minor setback in the video i say that satch is a guitar god and this is one incredible song/performance
Incredible as always , I’m a guitarist as well and am blown away by the solo , wow , ridiculous Joe king of melodic fast solos . Also you all should check out Damian Salazar guitarist , this guy is unbelievable , he is no Joe , but man that kid can fly on the guitar
unlike some guitarists with egos, the fact that Satch doesn't mind sitting down just to make the music perfect make me admire this guy even more
"Don't write a song sitting down.. You might not be able to play it standing up" is what he said about the song.
@@valtonen77 he could've chosen not to play this song, but he did nevertheless
Concordo muita simplicidade..isso faz a diferença..joe sensacional
Because he’s not just a shredder. He’s a musician
So true
Joe once said in an interview about this song, never write a solo sitting down, because you may not be able play it standing up. That's why he is sitting on a stool for it. Wise advice from a master.
Ya he says it before he plays but on the 8 min video .
So you would rather have never heard this solo is what you're saying.
Very interesting;I've been a fan for 35 years,I never heard that.Thanks.
I know .. Have composed some solos when sitting down that (at least) I think was good... But pretty damn hard to play standing up.. !! So wise word for sure..!! 😃👍
Or he could just adjust his guitar strap?
Greatest solo I've heard in a long time. Not only is it insanely fast, but unlike other shredders and non-shredders' solos who just go for speed, it has great melody and sound!
He's got "soul" 🤘
Besides being a phenomenal player technically, Joe is a masterful composer with outstanding melody.
He can play fast, slow and sound great..the man is a genius..seen him live 3 times with front row seat one time.
Listening to a genius like Joe motivates me to practice and makes me wanna quit guitar at the same time.
+Summat Wrong ..you are right . Same applies to me too. ha ha
I hear ya!
Summat Wrong .
Same here man but he's had years of practice and was professionally taught for a while so simpletons like us are pale in comparison nobody can play like satch except for satch ;)
i already quit...

This was always my favorite song on the album. The simplicity of the main riff followed by the unbelievable, textual, liquid solo always blew my mind. Seeing it just confirms my belief!
It truly is beautiful. It matches the title of the song and says so much without words!
amazing. I always wanted to see a live performance of this song and always wondered why they never did it live. That solo is just gold.
No matter how great Marco is: Jeff will always be Joe's best drummer.
Great song. I'm a one man band on youtube.
The solo blows me away every time.
where have you been all my life Joe? this song is awesome!
One of the most difficult songs of Satriani to perform, for songs like this Satriani is and will be the best of the best
All of Engines of Creation is lightyears ahead of this. There's one difficult part, that simply takes practice for a couple days...
@@Borlos. I had to look up the track list to understand the joke, that was a good one! 😂👍
@@klorand no entendí :v
I can't say for sure he's the best, but there for damn sure isn't anyone better.
Masterpiece.
2:26 For a second, I thought it was Jimi Hendrix drumming in the background XD
Thomas Hoevers you found what I found haha
Same here!
HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
Fast fingers and the right hair cut, I’m in love!
I’ve seen Joe three times. When he follows Steve Vai’s playing and then casually destroys the fretboard like it’s a walk in the park, incredible is an understatement.
Vai has demonic speed, Satriani is angelically fast
This song is so radically awesome in every single aspect it's ridiculous..!
20 years I haven't listened to it....still in love
You know the solo is good when you have to sit down to play it!
im shocknggg!!! is so great!
i like the how he play the guitar...

This is so awesome. I always liked how Joe works his pinky small finger! Too cute to watch.
My all time favorite piece of JOe Satriani!very fast and heavy!wow!
Great song. I'm a one man band on youtube.
He sits down! No wonder I've never been able to play this - great song, fantastic player. Love and respect to the legend
lmao have you mastered it?
To be fair, standing up or sitting down, not sure I ever stood a chance with this one. What an amazing solo. Love it!!!

One of the most difficult solos to play.
Great song. I'm a one man band on youtube.
I can never get enough of this song...killer soloing!
Perfection, one of my favorite tunes.
Amazing solo!!!
I sometimes forget how bloody good Joe is. I had to sit down to watch that lol.
Joe, finally look like that 'Surfing' album cover! Lucky you man!!
Every time I see Live Satch, I just think "is simply from another planet".
I've only just heard of Joe Satriani but I'm converted!
Top 5 Joe song... great driving song at night.... =)
What an amazing guitarist - and person. I had the chance to meet him once after a concert and he was so nice and obviously very intelligent.
One of my favourite songs x
I love how he needs to sit down for this
Solo is so powerful, he has to sit down, risk getting a stroke
SATRIANI YOU ARE A GOOOOOOOD GUITAR MASTER
YOUR'S SONGS ARE AMAZING
One of Dimebags favourites!
king of guitar respect
Joe Satriani is the only Joe Satriani I would ever trust to play such a "Joe Satriani" solo.
Satriani is a good mix...a virtuoso, a lot of creativity, melodies, tunes.
He has created his own style, like all the greats.
I'm Speechless... The best without a doubt...
And one of his better songs... what a SOLOs!!!!!!!
i love you joe satriani
One of his very best speed pieces!! Thanks for the upload!
Joe at his best ! Awesome Joe
i was listning to this back in 86
Joe,master at what he is doing!!!
The master at his office!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah!!
I love Joe Satriani, he's so goooood...
Absolutely wonderful, creativeand Joe Satriani!!!
One of the hardest songs to play in my opinion. Only the master can play it perfect!
What can I say ? Satch remains the Guitar Master, the authentic guitar hero and the best forever !
purely amazing!
te amo profesor Satriani❤❤
A solo so difficult even Joe had to sit down.
He wrote it sitting down!
I was gonna comment the Same!
timjenkins502 my favorite piece of work from Satch. And Vai's least favorite. But who cares what he thinks

Simply Genius.
Love it.
This track feels so good, crank it up.
A beauty to behold
Bloody hell! There's no wonder he doesn't do that one live very much. Absolutely impossible. And he wrote it!
El himno a Gus Rodriguez, saludos hasta donde te encuentres
This song is so hard, seems like even Joe is having a tough time nailing those licks down.
Pritam Tamang yet there are numerous unknown players who can play this without breaking a sweat.
RD400D78 Good point.
Wow, this is the 1st piece by Satriani I've ever learned, back in '90 I believe....and he's still got it!
Great song. I'm a one man band on youtube.
A blessed genius
@Hadsatriani Joe can do what he wants, I think we both agree he's amazing......right?
lol even joe needs to sit down to play that shredfest! Cool how it goes from small room to concert quite inspiring.

Woah! This is what I wanna see outta Joe. If youre gonna play instrumentals it has to be badass from the get go

le suena como si fuera en estudio, en varias cesiones, masterisado, editado, y todo, no se equivoca y las melodías son geniales
13 people had their cats jump on them just as they were about to click the "like" button.
10 seconds of greatness...2:44- 2:54..how many notes did joe play??sweeeeeeeeet!!!!!
