My fave book period is Prodigal Summer by Barbara Kingsolver, it’s fiction, about our relationships with the land and nature and others and it really is just such a sweet, beautiful story where nature feels like one of the central characters. Highly recommend!!!
Honestly any book by Kingsolver, she’s a biologist and a gardener and a prolific writer and I just love her and wish she was my auntie lol

I read Braiding Sweetgrass for one of introductory wildlife classes and it was very eye-opening and makes you appreciate earth, the environment, wildlife, and relationships much more than you can imagine. I also had the privilege of hearing Robin talk about TEK ( traditional ecological knowledge) and indigenous peoples connection to place. Highly recommend to everyone!

I recommend My First Summer in the Sierra by John Muir, who is one of the fathers of conservation in my area. It's a fun one and he just describes his adventure while hiking new forested areas and talks about his spiritual connection with nature. It's so good.

‘The drunken botanist’ by Amy Stewart. It sounds like it is somewhat similar to the featured ‘The hidden histories of houseplants’. The author has a lot of knowledge in botany and anthropology. The book tells the stories of most popular plants to make alcohol from😅. The book goes plant by plant in alphabetical order. In the very beginning Amy says, that if you have a favorite plant, the humans already have tried to make alcohol form it 😅. Each entry is full of botanical knowledge and cultural background of the most popular drinks. Very entertaining. And makes for nice conversations at parties. 😊

My husband bought me a book called Growing houseplants and it’s a book from Kew Gardens which is a Royal Botanic place here in the UK. I was always hopeless with houseplants before but it inspired me to try and do better and ignited my passion for it.

My first, and one of my favorite, planty books is "How to Make a Plant Love You" by Summer Rayne Oakes. It's so good and was a great introductory book.
I also love "Root, Nurture, Grow" which focuses a lot on different propagation methods, and also has some general care, an index of different houseplants and basic care needs, and even some DIY projects thrown in too!

I’ve been reading it outside on nice days and it’s really grounding and touching. It’s made me cry in the park a few times. 😅❤ I also love colllecting plant books and specifically on magick. If you are interested, I would suggest “Garden Witchery” by Ellen Dugan - one of my fav. books. 🌿✨

I never knew you were a Thrifter. I could tell you were a major bookworm. I feel like the older books were more informative starting out in my collection deffinetly learned by their latin names than common lol. I felt like the new the books are not as informative but more decorative and focus more on the popular plants but not Persay exotics.
