  • One of the most feared fighters of WWII in the Pacific theater. Building pack 12 stages 93 through 100 of the massive Agora Models 1:18 scale Mitsubishi A6M Zero fighter partwork model kit. Finishing the model and trying it out, good tips on applying the water slide decals.

Thanks Steve, I think the next aircraft on the docket will be the Agora Apache which releases a bit later this year, I might have another super rare and awesome partwork on the way soon.

Those decals remind me of the Takom decals in our 1/16 tanks. Awesome to see this one come together. I have to say this one is my favorite partwork to date and I'm excited to finish it. Got pack 6 on the way!

They are some fantastically tough waterslides as evidenced by me not needing o use the backup set.

It’s amazing when you think of the advancements in technology, the second war war had. The zero was the most advanced fighter in the world at the beginning of the war, and by the end, it was as outdated as a biplane.

That's how it goes, and you are so correct, at first they couldn't counter it, then later with better tech and planes and tactics it was dogmeat.

Great job Ian, she turned out looking amazing. Also thanks for the tip of using an insulated travel mug for keeping your decal water warm.

Good Morning, Pits! Beautiful Model and Results. Now, you've already thought of this I know but how about texturing and painting those Base Topper panels into a runway. Concrete, asphalt or dirt? You're an Aces Modeler so it would be simplicity itself for your Skillset.

Those base panels are a bit plain, I was actually thinking of getting a vinyl print done and sticking it on them, either of a Carrier deck or water.

Are your landing flaps, rudder and elevator working?

Yes but they do not make any extreme movements similar to a real airplane.

Its a lovely kit but the price aint happening. I cant help but to notice that the entire cockpit details look essentially identical to the 1/18 scale toy kits that were sold for $50 and up years ago but with new molds and rear fuselage inner frame details, the wings interior are totally new. Who knows, the molds from the exterior could have been used as a great place to start. Mine is hanging from the ceiling in another room but was very well detailed. Some of those kits were really toy like and had minimal details.Others like the Avenger, Hellcat and Zero that came later were very well done. I was an avid collector, p38, p40 zero, thunderbolt Me 109 early and late models. Foke Wulf 190d, spitfire, avenger, hellcat, corsair, me262 night fighter, a Mustang, not sure what else. I love the folding wings on the Hellcat and Avenger, too cool. I just wouldn't spring for the Dauntless but have seen it as an unfinished kit on the web.I also got a 1/24 harrier likely from the same series of kits as I never went for the modern jets available like the F116 Hornet tomcat which was very expensive, around 2K or the helicopters. i love the harrier, fly it in DCS so I had to build that kit. Its in the short pile of kits awaiting my attention along with some interesting kits an HE219 night fighter and a Mitsubishi jm23 jack interceptor. I had to give the Jack a try because I bought the Revell kit twice and could not get that engine and cowl to fit and tossed the kits. This time Its either tamiya or hasegawa that is making the kit so i expect a well made kit. Love the plane because it has all of the lines of a pre war air racer. Your kit is awesome but a bit rich for my budget.
